Morning all,

One for the Ed's if you're able to help me - what sort of additional money would we be looking at by qualifying to the champions league? Is there a rough estimate of the breakdown of what money we'd recieve for

- Qualifying
- Getting out of the group Stage
- Making it to quaters, semi, final etc?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated - cheers.

{Ed002's Note - It is something like this:
For qualifying for the Group Stage: €15M
Assuming West Ham win their 6 group stage games: €16M, if they win four and draw 2 it will reduce about €12M
Getting to the last 16 will bank the club around €10M
and another €10M for getting to the quarter finals another €10M
Getting in to the semi-final will boost the coffers by €12M
Each finalist will get €15M
And WHU will get a further €4M when they lift the cup in Saint Petersburg on May 28.

Given a little rounding, West Ham winning the CL next season will €82M and the benefit of attracting considerably more sponsorship.}

We can all dream Hahaha.

2.) 08 Apr 2021 22:22:15
Is that all, damn not really worth going for then is it 😂.

14 Jan 2021 19:25:58
I've just seen Boulaye Dia score a bicycle kick and celebrate with the ⚒ arm gesture.

Is it happening? Ed's, any news on this?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained there is interest.}

1.) 14 Jan 2021 20:37:13
Dia looks the most suited to Moyes style of play out of the strikers we've been linked too and I think his hard work would endear him to the fans hope we get it done quick!

2.) 14 Jan 2021 21:41:35
Looked back, he has been doing that celebration for some time. It has something to do with slavery in some African countries. Saw a picture of him doing it from 2019.

3.) 15 Jan 2021 09:38:59
Pissing myself at Ed, like an angry dad. “I’ve explained the situation, now sit down and eat you veg” Hahahaha. We are like exited kids if this is a goer lol.

4.) 19 Jan 2021 02:17:07
Another name being mentioned is Alassane Plea from B Monchengladbach though we will be priced out for him.

03 Jan 2021 15:33:49
Happy new year to all - apologies for the delay, first January in a long time where I've looked at our position in the league and not sighed with frustration!

Ed's - do you have any news on players we're looking at bringing in/ moving on. Or concrete areas that Moyes is looking to reinforce? I'm assuming a ST has to be number 1 priority, and potentially now GK with Fabs recent injury?

Any updates are as always, greatly appreciated!

{Ed002's Note - They like all clubs have looked at plenty of players but a S is the priority and, in January if possible.
Boulaye Dia (S) Reims striker who would need to considerably improve his strike rate but has been of interest to West Ham, Brighton, Everton and Marseille. Says he wants to play for Lyon.
Mariano Diaz (S) It is true that Real Madrid have the representatives of Mariano Diaz offering him around on ideally a loan to buy option as they continue to clear the decks ready for a summer spending spree. Diaz is an out and out striker who had a very good season at Lyon three years ago but is simply not good enough for Real Madrid where the goals return has been well below average. He has rejected loans to several clubs already inclding West Brom and Brighton - West Ham may offer solution but commiting to an obligation to buy may not be wise.
Marcus Forss (S) Brentford Striker being considered by Borussia Dortmund and West Ham. New contract so he can be forgotten.
Olivier Giroud (S) Numerous clubs have an interest but will stay at Chelsea until the summer.
Moussa Marega (S) seen by West Ham as a cheap option able to sign on a Pre-Contract in January. But perhaps no longer first choice.}

Seeing lots of rumours about the Marseille CB - Duje Caleta-Car

Any news on this Ed? Apparently the player has expressed he wants to join us, £25 mil bid + add ons?

Apparently if he joined he'd be the best CB outside the top 6, I've only watched him play a few times. Seems solid and can play out from the back.

{Ed002's Note - Duje Caleta-Car (CB) Manchester City have made a general enquiry about availability of the left sided CB - previous interest of Seville has gone. West Ham have asked the lady from Marseille (who is in London at the moment over another matter) to meet with them on to discuss Morgan Sanson and Caleta-Car. Marseille don't want to sell this summer, the player wants to play in the Chapions League with them and expect Manchester City will follow up next summer. But they need money.}

1.) 04 Oct 2020 00:11:22
He is not coming he had a change of heart after terms agreed he wants champions league football . Shame.

04 Sep 2020 08:14:28
I've also seen a rumour that Soucek will miss the opening game against Newcastle due to have to isolate after coming into contact with someone who had the virus 19

Just our luck aye!

1.) 04 Sep 2020 12:47:04
I seen this so him and Rice may be missing for the Newcastle game. Might end up starting the season with wilshere and Noble in midfield against the pace of st maximin and almiron won't be looking foward to that if it's TRUE.

2.) 05 Sep 2020 17:39:22
Surely any player who might have the virus can be tested and get the results through pronto?

I’m sure both Soucek and Rice (if he’s still with us) will start v Newcastle.

3.) 05 Sep 2020 18:23:14
You would think so Marko weather they have to follow the guidelines regardless I have no idea.

4.) 05 Sep 2020 23:21:11
I am getting very anxious that Chelsea or city bid big money at the last knockings of the window leaving us with no time to get a replacement in and we all know that player is RICE and we will get left with NOBLE SNODGRASS and CULLEN to play alongside SOUCEK I'm preying not. COYI.

5.) 06 Sep 2020 01:49:27
No way they can sell Rice now never mind at the end of a window with no replacement. We will go down without him.

I've seen Declan come under fire within the media for being too conservative and not "passing forward"

He is literally under instruction by Southgate to sit in front of the defence and not move or give possession away. We've all seen his driving runs and passing ability throughout the season so we know it's not his fault. If he decides to start passing/ driving forward with the ball, he risk being dropped for not following instructions.

Extremely frustrating to watch.

1.) 22 Jun 2021 19:21:12
Let’s face it, I can only think of 3 players that have come away with any credit in last two games, Pickford, mings and foden ( foden because he was the only one going forward) .

After Scotland game I think Southgate should of been sacked, that was the most boring, negative performance in years and frankly unacceptable, everybody passed it sideways or backwards and mings summed it up in the interview after saying the goal was to get out of the group, that says it all about the mentality of the team.
Fair enough to look at Kane but he has had no service to work from and has been totally isolated, I am with sourness that rice and Phillips are the same player, play one or the other and not both to create 6 defenders.
I think I will be turning off tonight if the first half is similar to the other night.

2.) 23 Jun 2021 10:48:34
Well, at least we got to see 30 mins of the potential that England can play, moving the ball forward, looking confident. What happened in the second half is anyone’s guess, would love to have heard Southgates half time talk, maybe he was worried about going forward!

Next Tuesday will be the start of the games where you have to win ugly, the nitty gritty of not conceding goals and stout defending, a team that’s not scoring but also not conceding, get your cash on 0-0 at full time.
Still not a Southgate fan but maybe the knockout stages will work as fans will accept winning ugly.

26 Apr 2021 13:13:26
I personally think if Antonio is serious about playing for Jamaica, we have to sell him/ let him go as soon as possible. He can barely play a game a week at the moment without his body breaking down. Imagine him going off to a tournament. Fantastic player but his body just won't allow him to play

We need 2 strikers in the summer as an absolute must. I have a feeling Moyes is going to have a clear out with the below being up for sale/ moving on

Anderson (if we can find a buyer)
Yarmolenko (if we can find a buyer)

1.) 27 Apr 2021 21:42:13
Agree with all on the list, although I’d also lump Antonio in. Hopefully, with Antonio lumped in we could pull back £40m for the 6, plus it’d free up a fair bit on the wage bill.

2.) 28 Apr 2021 22:12:00
Definitely should keep Antonio and bring in another 2 strikers. He won't get injured as much if he's not rushed back and we can manage his game time.

Wouldn't like to be a tired defender and see Antonio coming on! He's bullied defenses all on his own at times.

06 Feb 2021 19:29:04
Yet it again, we all have front row seats to the Mike Dean show. This is my game and you're all playing it.

1. It wasn't a red card
2. He has to make the game about him, he had to go over to the screen and look at it 30 times before making a decision, everyone look at me.
3. Loves last minute drama

We didn't deserve much from that game as we didn't play well at all. Michy injured with hamstring again. But Mike Dean is an absolute disgrace. He just loves making drama out of nothing.

1.) 06 Feb 2021 19:42:58
Yes saw Antonio signal to come off in the centre circle, seemed to be missed by the commentators. Hopefully just tightening.

25 Jan 2021 09:58:30
I've seen reports we're trying to sign Odsonne Edouard from Celtic before the end of the window - he looks a real player, exactly what we're crying out for to lead the line and give Michy some competition.

I saw a quote online about this deal which I thought was fantastic - "I love how everything about this deal is perfect. The player wants the move. Both clubs wants the move. The deal should be done in 3 days. But since it's West Ham it will take a week and go to the final hours of the market where it will fall through"

I really hope it's not true, but it would be typical West Ham. Let's just hope Sully has turned a corner and we get the deal down nice and quickly like Bowen, Souck and Coufal.

1.) 25 Jan 2021 11:13:02
TKH, I saw he had only 18 months left on his Contract at Celtic, only minus side is, it said Brendan Rogers may be interested in him as he was with him at Celtic!
Vardy is out for a few weeks after his Hernia op, also playing for Leicester seems a more attractive proposition for him as he said he was interested in playing for a top 6 PL side!
It almost sounded like a come and get me to Brendan Rogers? So sounds he is more Leicester bound than London, but can only remain hopeful, as he would be a decent acquisition for us! I would certainly be pleased with that signing🤞🤞🤞⚒⚒⚒⚒.

2.) 25 Jan 2021 11:44:37
Well Chelms if we beat Palace tomorrow and other results go our away we'll be 4th. that makes us a top 6 side doesn't it? haha

All sorts of names flying around at the moment. I just hope we get something over the line to help Michy out.

12 Jan 2021 15:32:55
I'm reading Blackburn's Adam Armstrong is a realistic target - is there any legs in this?

He looks like exactly the type of striker we want to bring in. Young, quick, grafter, and exciting to watch. Reminds me of Danny Ings!

Out of contract in the Summer so wouldn't break the bank either.

1.) 12 Jan 2021 16:20:46
Hi Tk there was some chatter on this with ed2 a day or so ago, the feeling was that he may not be DM typical choice, at 5'8 ( i think) he may not have the airiel ability DM likes, but we will see.

2.) 13 Jan 2021 17:41:21
Armstrong could be a good fit. British, rarely injured, worls hard, similar to Bowen.

When I saw this news, I thought, Chelmsford is a lucky boy, Christmas has come twice for him!

It’s a shame because he has the ability, but if it frees up funds to get Josh King I’ll be happy overall. We probably still owe Frankfurt £10mil ish in payments, so we’ll only actually be getting 10-15 mil to re-invest in a player.

Shifting Anderson on would be the best business we could do this window, although I’ll doubt anyone will want a winger who doesn’t even make the squad for Porto.

Chelmsford. to say he is "worst forward that ever played for us" you must have an extremely short memory. May I remind you of a few, Bennie McCarthey, Savio, Miaga, Chamakh, Zaza, Calleri. and that's just the few I can remember sitting at my desk. To even suggest that he's the worst we've had is completely unjust and extremely unfair. May I also remind you, he is our top scorer this season. Fair enough a few have come in the Cups, but you can only score against what's in front of you.

I get it Chelms, you want to see a guy throw himself around on the pitch, whether it be fruitless or not, I get it, as a West Ham fan I also love to see players leaving everything on the pitch and covering every blade of grass, but it just isn't his game. He's a technical player which was evident when he banged in that bicycle kick. I'm not saying Haller is without fault, but the criticism you give this guy could almost be seen as a hate crime haha!

Hope you had a good new year - looking forward to more discussions in the second half of the season!

At least the money for Rio was used to build the old Dr Martens stand at Upton Park. Rice's sale will go straight into DGS back pocket.

Also the many clubs that have bought players in, have sold players to raise funds and make space.

Unfortunately we put Lanzini, Anderson and Wilshere up for sale - Due to their form and lack of playing time last season, its obvious why clubs aren't queueing up to sign them.

It’s quite clear that Haller is being played to try and recoup some of the money we paid for him when we eventually sell him in the summer - he’s still our top scorer this season across all competitions with 7 goals.

The setup from Moyes was utterly baffling. The midfield section was especially strange. Lanzini changed the game, Yarmolenko had some good work out wide and got the assist for Soucek. Why were these players not starting? The most negative team selection I’ve seen from Moyes since his return, which is disappointing considering we were at home to Brighton.

Bowen and Rice particularly poor today. Everyone has an off day and they are usually are top performers so I’ll let them off, it is Christmas after all.

Work to do for next week! We need to stay in the top half, I’m not interested in being involved in another relegation scrap.

Thanks Nick - i'm glad somebody agrees with me!

I still think Haller is a good player, I just think, with the system we're playing at the moment he needs to drop deeper. Instead of trying to flick the ball on he needs to come deeper, hold the ball up and bring Bowen, Fornals and Arthur into the game. He has good close control and can hold players off.

There is no sense in him standing up top and challenging for headers which land at the feet of defenders. If he comes short, and gets involved in the play slightly deeper, you'll see a completely different player.

I agree with majority of the comments however. you cannot expect to win a premier league game if you’re going to miss 3 sitters. Bowen had a fantastic game but missed a sitter from Coufals cross. Fornals made an absolute hash out of that header and Haller fell over his own feet one on one with the GK.

You cannot expect to beat any team, especially Man united if you’re going to be so wasteful with these golden opportunities. That’s exactly what we were today, wasteful. Whether the ball was off the pitch or not, that’s not the reason why we lost the game - the game should have been dead and buried after 45 minutes. We only have ourselves to blame.
