Afternoon Ed's and happy new to all

Have any names of potential signings been let out the bag?

I feel that we desperately need a midfielder and a striker

Who would you guys like to see come in? I know January is always a difficult market but I feel like there are deals to be done

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

{Ed002's Note - Most of this predates the change in Manager:
Sander Berge (DM) if Declan Rice leaves - lots of interest from elsewhere - unlikely
Morgan Sanson (CM) interest may have left with MP - Marseille are awaiting to hear
Joe Allen (CM/AM) his agent has said there has been a general enquiry from West Ham
Bilel Hassaini (RW) - a player in limbo - I would just forget him
Everton Soares (LW) Lots of clubs have been looking at Everton Soares but none are interested at the Gremio asking price of €120M nor the for sale price of around €80M. I would not hold your breath at all. Over hyped with an agent happy to let a third party hawk him around to clubs who are open to the slightly odder arrangements. Never going to happen. (Agent is Marco Cruz - but assistance is coming from Kia Joorabchian}
Olivier Giroud (S) an enquiry has been made with Chelsea - but there is interest from a number of sides.
Gabriel Barbosa (S) could be very high risk but his agent is testing the waters about interest - could not settle in Italy and wants out - preferably back to Flamengo but they are struggling to find the money}

1.) 02 Jan 2020 14:36:05
Thanks Ed, much appreciated!

I’ve seen that Barbosa (Gabigol) played with Felipe Anderson at country and club level and that may be a dealbreaker for him to come? If we signed him and a midfielder to replace Sanchez and take the load off of Noble I’d see it as a good window.

{Ed002's Note - The problem with Barbosa is he has shown no ability to perform outside of Brazil. Having played with FA would make no difference really.}

2.) 02 Jan 2020 16:24:52
Any interest in any of our players? Yarmo leaving?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of right now. Size wise West Ham currently can add three players to the squad without selling (but I am sure Moyes will have noticed that it is an aging squad so at some point a plan needs to be put in place for a cull).}

3.) 02 Jan 2020 20:54:40
Cheers, Ed!

4.) 03 Jan 2020 10:33:28
Hi Ed, come over to the WHU to ask this, you mentioned Gedson Fernandes being offered to 3 prem clubs, media reporting he is in talks with WHU today, any truth in this?

{Ed002's Note - The player isn't in talks but West Ham were one of the three clubs.}

15 May 2019 12:02:05
Not sure on what your view is guys - But i'm absolutely sick to death of seeing Jonjo Shelvey linked to us. He's not the sort of player we want/ need, awful attitude and temperament. if he was half as good as what he thought he was, he'd be twice as good as he actually is!

There's a long, long list of players i'd like to see in a West Ham shirt before we resort to him. Noble makes him look bang average.

1.) 15 May 2019 15:13:19
I’ve never really got the Shelvey hype either. Benitez is no fool and he let Shelvey wallow out of his first team for ages.

2.) 16 May 2019 00:04:58
Each to there own point of view, but for me I'd say yes to him, he has the range of pass that we miss, the boy can ping the ball about for fun . Unless Jack gets and stays fit then I'd bring him in .

3.) 16 May 2019 08:26:54
Totally agree, Shelvey bad attitude, overrated and inconsistent. If he wasn't a Hammers fan probably never even hear about him. I'd steer clear, unless was a freebie and worth a gamble. But he's not getting into a team fighting relegation for a reason!

4.) 17 May 2019 03:33:33
He was injured for quite a while with a bad injury and took a while to win his place back Because of the emergence of longstaff and form of Hayden he also had ki and diame to compete with.

Papers are linking Hayden with us and many other London clubs as he wants to return south maybe the eds can shed some light on this?

Geordies have been raving about how good shelvey has been since he's got there I'd say this has been his worst season yet because of that injury but he does have a great range of passing, doesn't shirk a tackle can score and create. Take him out of a defensive Benitez side and put him in a possession based Pellegrini side with better players you could see all his qualities, That's what I think anyway.

{Ed001's Note - he actually didn't get back in because he was not training properly. He has a few issues with attitude.}

5.) 17 May 2019 10:08:40
West ham love a challenge ed lol or a waith and stray :)

{Ed001's Note - that's true. If you can get their heads right you can pick up a quality player on the cheap. However Shelvey is not a quality player. He is slow, cumbersome, has an awful temperament and could pick a fight in an empty room. He also has a real problem with concentration, does not work hard in training, injury-prone (another thing the Hammers seem to like in a signing) because of his lifestyle, does not look after himself outside of training, hence his well documented weight issues and will give the ball away with those Hollywood passes of his far more often than they will get through. They do look good in a highlight reel but over 90 minutes he is a liability. He was horrible when we had him at Liverpool and he has regressed since then.}

6.) 17 May 2019 10:12:57
Appreciate the info. I would hope he's quite far down on the list in that position just a case if we can get our first choice targets maybe.

{Ed001's Note - would it not be better to look at an academy player if you can't get anyone better than Shelvey? Sometimes it is better not to buy than just buy anyone!}

7.) 17 May 2019 10:57:27
Agree with Ed, gone are the days when we thought Bowyer and Dier were a calm partnership.

{Ed001's Note - they were certainly entertaining, but usually for the opposition's benefit!}

8.) 17 May 2019 11:01:24
Thanks ed :)

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

9.) 17 May 2019 13:58:12
Well for me Noble is still doing the business and it's a good point you make of promoting from within it's just a case of if they are good enough. We have Cullen, Coventry, Lewis in the youth set up maybe one of those could step and become Nobles long term replacement. Also edi Fernandes returning from loan contrary reports on if he's staying or going.

Ceballos looks like the most exciting player we have been linked to in that position that would be my priority if he would come here.

Kessie also been linked with us and who ever gets Sangare is getting a special player in my opinion .

{Ed001's Note - Hammers have an excellent youth system, may as well use it.}

10.) 17 May 2019 14:31:37
Think it’s old newspaper talk he ain’t for us like Ed said bad attitude doesn’t want to track back and picks up cards regularly.

11.) 20 May 2019 23:26:54
Ed is spot on about SHELVEY. COYI.

Seeing reports Arnie won't be starting due to transfer "speculation"

Listen, I love the guy, absolutely adore him, but you're 29 years old. Either come out and say look boys, we've had a good run and I love the club, but I need to move in the interest of my wife and 2 daughters and earn the money in China (if we were all offered double our current salary, we'd all move, its the way the works works)

Or come out and squash the bull that your browser keeps spouting and commit to the club.

This. "oh I think it's best I don't be named in the squad because of speculation" is shocking. We all know players have the power these days. Address the rumours Arnie and give us an answer. Either way, if you do it the correct way, and you want to move to China to earn the money for your family, I'd like to think the majorly of legit West Ham fans would thank you for your service and the memories and wish you all the best in the future.

Please just go about it the right way.

1.) 12 Jan 2019 03:51:39
I think you have your answer. He wants out if he is suggesting he don't be named because of speculation, otherwise the speculation would mean nothing to him. Not that bothered if he goes if we get the right price.

2.) 12 Jan 2019 09:08:23
The ONLY occasions when he should not be available for the match day squad are injury, or if you are not selected.

Anything else should be breach of contract.

Naive, I know, but that’s how it should be.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 11:34:00
Just seen he’s playing.

4.) 12 Jan 2019 11:35:16
Well he has been named.

5.) 12 Jan 2019 12:02:55
I hope he scores a few and settles down, or scores a hatful and inflates his price if he really wants out.

6.) 13 Jan 2019 08:27:05
Bit of a waste of space wasn't he? Played like a star player on FM who wants a new contract.

7.) 13 Jan 2019 19:55:08
ARNIE performance yesterday spoke volumes of the man behind the mask he's a self centred player we really don't need at our football club and grateful I am of his performances this season it's him who should be grate ful as the club who was willing to take a chance on him when others wouldn't have done and rescuing from a relegation (happened) threatened club and turning him into a C/ F of a high standard and we should be doing EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE TOLD TO DO SO BY NOT HIM BUT HIS BROTHER yeah righty oh my old China it doesn't work like that I'd let him rot in the stiffs but then we are doing ourselves out of a lot of money and we cannot afford such luxurys so just get the deal done as quick as possible and move on . COYI.

10 Jan 2019 19:15:36
The rumour that Pep wants Rice worries me more than the Arnie rumours.

1.) 11 Jan 2019 10:14:12
I called this a while ago! . If Pep comes in i don´t see how Rice could turn it down! . let's be honest he´s going to win pretty much f all with us and a good chance of winning everything with Man City plus he´d be on a min 100k pw straight off the bat! . and for the club a 50-60m bid i think they would accept that!

2.) 11 Jan 2019 10:31:53
Can only hope he decides to stay a year or 2 more with us to increase his experience before he heads off.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 03:54:23
I recall suggesting previously that he wouldn't stay his whole career and some disagreed with my comment. No players for life anymore and even less likely if your not a Champions League team. Glad I grew up in the era of Trevor Brooking and Billy Bonds, my son supports West Ham but his favourite player is Lionel Messi. Don't think he would ever get a West Ham players number on his back sadly.

4.) 12 Jan 2019 09:11:29
MP should tell him now that he is captain next year.

5.) 13 Jan 2019 20:02:42
A move to city isn't the right move for RICE yet but in two years it probably is I remember a young SCOT PARKER who I knew quite well through his father mickey moving to CHELSEA and not getting a game now I know he only moved to triple his earnings and money was the only reason he moved so if I was west ham I'd say gives us your all for 2-3 years and we will broker a big move for you well something along those lines and help you basically you scratch our backs and vice versa. COYI.

05 Jan 2019 10:35:20
Speaking to someone who knows Shelvey's dad - he's saying it's practically a done deal? Any news on this mike?

1.) 05 Jan 2019 11:34:08
It does seem this swap deal rumour involving Carroll is getting stronger.

2.) 05 Jan 2019 12:01:53
IT would be a FANTASTIC deal for WH, WHOEVER would sanction this deal at. NEWCASTLE. Should be taken straight to a Mental House Institution, The only way this could happen is a DELAYED payment for Shelvey until the summer, THEN it’s possible but a straight swap without money would belike WH winning the lottery. IRONMIKE.

3.) 05 Jan 2019 12:10:23
I think that would be a great deal
I like shelvey he could turn out to be our next noble.

4.) 11 Jan 2019 22:01:45
I really can't jump on the SHELVEY bandwagon I've seen him loads of times and he's hardly a game changer if we are going to IMPROVE we have to aim higher than SHELVEY as I think we should and could aim a little higher than him also his liking for a card worries me I'd steer clear even if I'm desperate to get rid of Billy the fish. COYI.

Evening gents,

Haven't posted for a while, but I'd just like your opinions on the below (Ed's if you could weigh in on anything you've heard as well it would be great) .

Anderson to Napoli - personally i'd like to see Anderson stay, he's unbelievable on his day, he just needs the right mindset and I feel this is something Moyes will do well, get him working hard again.

Diop to Spurs/ United - a step backwards for me, our best defender after Ogbonna, inconsistent this year, but the quality is definitely there and he's still very young in CB years. I'd also like to see him stay.

Lanzini - Not even half the player he was before the injury. He can't influence a game like he used to, and I think this level may be too high for him now. I love what he's done for us and the goals he's scored, but it may be time to go?

Players to push and build a team around - Haller, Diop, Anderson, Bowen, Soucek, Rice, Fornals (revelation in the second half of the season) .

Players to move on/ sell - Sanchez (muck), Yarmolenko (Better suited to another league and injury prone it seems), Lanzini, Balbuena.

I think we need a RB and a LB as I don't see Cresswell as being good enough for this level, and Fredricks is too injury prone. Ngakia is too young to be expected to be first team week in week out. Soucek needs to be signed permanently, he's very good. Another striker.

What are your views guys?

{Ed001's Note - Lanzini needs time mate. An injury like he has can take 12-18 months just to relearn how to run normally, let alone kick the ball.

Fornals I agree is a quality player, I was very excited about you buying him and you need to hang on to him.}

1.) 21 Apr 2020 14:30:26
I agree he needs time Ed - however if we’re forced into selling players due to the situation, I would rather see Lanzini go than Anderson or Fornals

Is there any rumours on potential ins and outs that could happen this summer, if the transfer window goes ahead as usual?

{Ed001's Note - nothing at the moment mate, not sure what is happening sorry.}

2.) 21 Apr 2020 22:41:29
TK. I agree with much of what you have said, although I would use Ngakia, if he’s old enough he’s good enough.

3.) 30 Apr 2020 05:14:29
I'd sell lanzini who I don't think will be the same player after that injury as ED said it takes a long time to come back from that sort of injury and some are never the same we have to keep FORNALS on ANDERSON I'm not sure his heart has ever been in west ham and I think his mindset was to use us as a stepping stone to a bigger premier league team and it hasn't worked out so he either rolls his sleeves up and gives us a go or he can go but I'd be amazed if RICE wants to leave and that would hurt but SOUCEK is decent and if RICE did go it would give us a massive war chest to spend and replace RICE with a quality player to play with SOUCEK. COYI.

20 Feb 2020 16:06:49
Just read a stat that Rodri completed 178 passes last night

West Ham as a team completed 169 passes.

1.) 21 Feb 2020 07:15:32
Truly believable. We couldn't keep hold of the ball or make a simple 5 yard pass.

2.) 21 Feb 2020 07:20:03
Nothing will change until we start changing formation and he drops the players that don't perform matsuaku, noble, lanzini, cresswell, snodgrass and haller. Yeah some will disagree but let's be honest, these players are carried every game.

25 Jan 2020 16:09:30
You have to laugh.

Currently losing at home to a championship sides B time. With a manager who was deemed not good enough, Charlie Austin, who David Gold openly questioned and stated wasn't good enough, and diangana who was deemed surplus to requirements this season.

You absolutely hated to say it. You cannot blame David Moyes, you have to look at Pellegrini and the board. Obiang and Kouyate were not replaced. We have no energy or athleticism in midfield and it's glaringly obvious.

1.) 25 Jan 2020 16:58:09
No pace or power in midfield and full backs worry me. Well played wba for again showing us our deficiencies.

31 Dec 2019 13:21:42
Congratulations to Mark Noble for winning hammer of the decade. Thoroughly deserved many times over!

I've seen a lot of people saying Payet should have won it. Payet is probably one of the best players I've ever seen pull on the shirt, but it takes a lot more than quality and ability to be a true hammer.

Well done Mark, big 3 points tomorrow please, a true legend in my eyes!

{Ed002's Note - I would have thought Payet's exit would have done for his chances if nothing else. The lady from MArseille is saying everyone is really pleased how he is playing at the moment.}

1.) 31 Dec 2019 15:41:29
Bless her lol.

29 Dec 2019 21:24:33
So we've appointed Moyes - what's everyone's general thoughts?

Just getting them running and playing with a bit of heart would be a good start

Hopefully he can get lanzini, yarmo and Anderson back into form like he did with Arnie last time he was here. Just looking solid at the back and a higher work rate would be a vast improvement.

I can't grumble about the appointment, we could do a lot worse!

1.) 29 Dec 2019 22:24:10
Probably got a cut price deal to get moyes as he's been here before IMO we should have gone for a fresh face . COYI.

2.) 30 Dec 2019 01:19:25
The problem is they didn't plan this properly. Ancelotti was there a couple of weeks back but the board kept giving Pelle more chances till it became untenable and then you have to move to get someone who will a. is available b. is interested. Given who is available and more importantly who would be interested, I think Moyes was probably the best we could get.

I’ve seen this being reported as well.

Unfortunate as he’s a quality talent, but we don’t need any players that don’t want to play for us. If that’s his attitude, then thank him for his service and wish him the best of luck.

The year is 2035 - Sander Berge is now 35, West Ham sign him on a 3 year contract, 100k a week. The Sullivan effect.

We'll probably offer £20 million, £19 million of it being "addons" paid in 200 instalments over 20 years for Sander Berge.

Then David Sullivan will come out saying he moved heaven and earth to try and sign him, we'll then end up signing Nigel Reo Coker out of retirement to cover in midfield.

I’d welcome this - absolutely better than any of the midfield options we have outside of Noble and Rice.

Good on the ball, big, strong and not over the hill in terms of age.

I’d like to see this done with an option to buy at the end potentially as he’s definitely not getting the playing time at Chelsea.

Ajeti is only 23 and hasn't really been given a chance. To be fair to him, he runs his socks off when he comes on.

The rest, I agree - Sanchez is one of the worst players i've ever seen in claret and blue.

Wilshere's contract should be terminated, paid out - wipe your mouth and move on, him being around the club, constantly injured and cashing large pay cheques probably winds up the other players (especially when he's videoed hiding in washing machines) .

Masuaku should be utilised as a winger, not a defender. He is decent going forward. Hopeless as a defender.

Yarmo - tough one to call, but I think it would be better to get rid if we can, enjoy watching him play as he's quite unorthodox, but he's injured far too often.

Only one problem Stevie, as big and strong as he is, unfortunately Antonio is made of glass and will only play 1 in every 4 or 5 games.

I think this would be great, and love antonio, but he can’t be relied upon anymore.

Disagree with Snodgrass, he’s a good squad player and has done well this season and last. He’s not the quickest, but he works harder than 99% of the squad and can whip a dead ball

Agree on shifting all the others though!
