Not sure on what your view is guys - But i'm absolutely sick to death of seeing Jonjo Shelvey linked to us. He's not the sort of player we want/ need, awful attitude and temperament. if he was half as good as what he thought he was, he'd be twice as good as he actually is!

There's a long, long list of players i'd like to see in a West Ham shirt before we resort to him. Noble makes him look bang average.

1.) 15 May 2019 15:13:19
I’ve never really got the Shelvey hype either. Benitez is no fool and he let Shelvey wallow out of his first team for ages.

2.) 16 May 2019 00:04:58
Each to there own point of view, but for me I'd say yes to him, he has the range of pass that we miss, the boy can ping the ball about for fun . Unless Jack gets and stays fit then I'd bring him in .

3.) 16 May 2019 08:26:54
Totally agree, Shelvey bad attitude, overrated and inconsistent. If he wasn't a Hammers fan probably never even hear about him. I'd steer clear, unless was a freebie and worth a gamble. But he's not getting into a team fighting relegation for a reason!

4.) 17 May 2019 03:33:33
He was injured for quite a while with a bad injury and took a while to win his place back Because of the emergence of longstaff and form of Hayden he also had ki and diame to compete with.

Papers are linking Hayden with us and many other London clubs as he wants to return south maybe the eds can shed some light on this?

Geordies have been raving about how good shelvey has been since he's got there I'd say this has been his worst season yet because of that injury but he does have a great range of passing, doesn't shirk a tackle can score and create. Take him out of a defensive Benitez side and put him in a possession based Pellegrini side with better players you could see all his qualities, That's what I think anyway.

{Ed001's Note - he actually didn't get back in because he was not training properly. He has a few issues with attitude.}

5.) 17 May 2019 10:08:40
West ham love a challenge ed lol or a waith and stray :)

{Ed001's Note - that's true. If you can get their heads right you can pick up a quality player on the cheap. However Shelvey is not a quality player. He is slow, cumbersome, has an awful temperament and could pick a fight in an empty room. He also has a real problem with concentration, does not work hard in training, injury-prone (another thing the Hammers seem to like in a signing) because of his lifestyle, does not look after himself outside of training, hence his well documented weight issues and will give the ball away with those Hollywood passes of his far more often than they will get through. They do look good in a highlight reel but over 90 minutes he is a liability. He was horrible when we had him at Liverpool and he has regressed since then.}

6.) 17 May 2019 10:12:57
Appreciate the info. I would hope he's quite far down on the list in that position just a case if we can get our first choice targets maybe.

{Ed001's Note - would it not be better to look at an academy player if you can't get anyone better than Shelvey? Sometimes it is better not to buy than just buy anyone!}

7.) 17 May 2019 10:57:27
Agree with Ed, gone are the days when we thought Bowyer and Dier were a calm partnership.

{Ed001's Note - they were certainly entertaining, but usually for the opposition's benefit!}

8.) 17 May 2019 11:01:24
Thanks ed :)

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

9.) 17 May 2019 13:58:12
Well for me Noble is still doing the business and it's a good point you make of promoting from within it's just a case of if they are good enough. We have Cullen, Coventry, Lewis in the youth set up maybe one of those could step and become Nobles long term replacement. Also edi Fernandes returning from loan contrary reports on if he's staying or going.

Ceballos looks like the most exciting player we have been linked to in that position that would be my priority if he would come here.

Kessie also been linked with us and who ever gets Sangare is getting a special player in my opinion .

{Ed001's Note - Hammers have an excellent youth system, may as well use it.}

10.) 17 May 2019 14:31:37
Think it’s old newspaper talk he ain’t for us like Ed said bad attitude doesn’t want to track back and picks up cards regularly.

11.) 20 May 2019 23:26:54
Ed is spot on about SHELVEY. COYI.

11 Jan 2019 23:56:34
Seeing reports Arnie won't be starting due to transfer "speculation"

Listen, I love the guy, absolutely adore him, but you're 29 years old. Either come out and say look boys, we've had a good run and I love the club, but I need to move in the interest of my wife and 2 daughters and earn the money in China (if we were all offered double our current salary, we'd all move, its the way the works works)

Or come out and squash the bull that your browser keeps spouting and commit to the club.

This. "oh I think it's best I don't be named in the squad because of speculation" is shocking. We all know players have the power these days. Address the rumours Arnie and give us an answer. Either way, if you do it the correct way, and you want to move to China to earn the money for your family, I'd like to think the majorly of legit West Ham fans would thank you for your service and the memories and wish you all the best in the future.

Please just go about it the right way.

1.) 12 Jan 2019 03:51:39
I think you have your answer. He wants out if he is suggesting he don't be named because of speculation, otherwise the speculation would mean nothing to him. Not that bothered if he goes if we get the right price.

2.) 12 Jan 2019 09:08:23
The ONLY occasions when he should not be available for the match day squad are injury, or if you are not selected.

Anything else should be breach of contract.

Naive, I know, but that’s how it should be.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 11:34:00
Just seen he’s playing.

4.) 12 Jan 2019 11:35:16
Well he has been named.

5.) 12 Jan 2019 12:02:55
I hope he scores a few and settles down, or scores a hatful and inflates his price if he really wants out.

6.) 13 Jan 2019 08:27:05
Bit of a waste of space wasn't he? Played like a star player on FM who wants a new contract.

7.) 13 Jan 2019 19:55:08
ARNIE performance yesterday spoke volumes of the man behind the mask he's a self centred player we really don't need at our football club and grateful I am of his performances this season it's him who should be grate ful as the club who was willing to take a chance on him when others wouldn't have done and rescuing from a relegation (happened) threatened club and turning him into a C/ F of a high standard and we should be doing EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE TOLD TO DO SO BY NOT HIM BUT HIS BROTHER yeah righty oh my old China it doesn't work like that I'd let him rot in the stiffs but then we are doing ourselves out of a lot of money and we cannot afford such luxurys so just get the deal done as quick as possible and move on . COYI.

10 Jan 2019 19:15:36
The rumour that Pep wants Rice worries me more than the Arnie rumours.

1.) 11 Jan 2019 10:14:12
I called this a while ago! . If Pep comes in i don´t see how Rice could turn it down! . let's be honest he´s going to win pretty much f all with us and a good chance of winning everything with Man City plus he´d be on a min 100k pw straight off the bat! . and for the club a 50-60m bid i think they would accept that!

2.) 11 Jan 2019 10:31:53
Can only hope he decides to stay a year or 2 more with us to increase his experience before he heads off.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 03:54:23
I recall suggesting previously that he wouldn't stay his whole career and some disagreed with my comment. No players for life anymore and even less likely if your not a Champions League team. Glad I grew up in the era of Trevor Brooking and Billy Bonds, my son supports West Ham but his favourite player is Lionel Messi. Don't think he would ever get a West Ham players number on his back sadly.

4.) 12 Jan 2019 09:11:29
MP should tell him now that he is captain next year.

5.) 13 Jan 2019 20:02:42
A move to city isn't the right move for RICE yet but in two years it probably is I remember a young SCOT PARKER who I knew quite well through his father mickey moving to CHELSEA and not getting a game now I know he only moved to triple his earnings and money was the only reason he moved so if I was west ham I'd say gives us your all for 2-3 years and we will broker a big move for you well something along those lines and help you basically you scratch our backs and vice versa. COYI.

05 Jan 2019 10:35:20
Speaking to someone who knows Shelvey's dad - he's saying it's practically a done deal? Any news on this mike?

1.) 05 Jan 2019 11:34:08
It does seem this swap deal rumour involving Carroll is getting stronger.

2.) 05 Jan 2019 12:01:53
IT would be a FANTASTIC deal for WH, WHOEVER would sanction this deal at. NEWCASTLE. Should be taken straight to a Mental House Institution, The only way this could happen is a DELAYED payment for Shelvey until the summer, THEN it’s possible but a straight swap without money would belike WH winning the lottery. IRONMIKE.

3.) 05 Jan 2019 12:10:23
I think that would be a great deal
I like shelvey he could turn out to be our next noble.

4.) 11 Jan 2019 22:01:45
I really can't jump on the SHELVEY bandwagon I've seen him loads of times and he's hardly a game changer if we are going to IMPROVE we have to aim higher than SHELVEY as I think we should and could aim a little higher than him also his liking for a card worries me I'd steer clear even if I'm desperate to get rid of Billy the fish. COYI.

31 Jul 2018 18:57:02
Not sure if anyone else agrees, but the more I watch Snodgrass, the more I'm starting to really like him. nice little assist just now for Martinez.

I honestly think he'll be a very good squad player this season, i'd definitely look to keep hold of him!

1.) 31 Jul 2018 19:35:25
It seems as if MP might agree with you, TK.

2.) 31 Jul 2018 20:52:57
Too slow so can't get past anybody.

3.) 31 Jul 2018 22:24:28
I agree, but he isn't the only player who lacks the pace to take players on, Noble can't either. The key point is whether they can adapt to Pellegrini's one touch football, because if they need too much time on the ball and if their movement off the ball is poor they are going to be a liability. time will tell. There are a few positions, no doubt Pellegrini would like to improve but the finances restict him. I think there will be a few coming and going before the window closes. Hopefully we will see a quality midfielder or two come in and a striker.

4.) 31 Jul 2018 23:02:40
Spot on HAMMERSFAN regarding both devoud of any pace and if you play in midfield you can't be pedestrian. COYI.

5.) 01 Aug 2018 00:20:48
Of course a midfielder can be slow - Pirlo rated as one of the greatest ever and he was very slow! Great player though.
Noble plays fantastic passes as does Snodgrass- Pelle knows his stuff, trust him.

6.) 01 Aug 2018 12:11:11
Pirlo was a free role and a one off noble is great now i know that glen.

7.) 01 Aug 2018 12:11:38
Pirlo wasnt asked to track back.

All wrong for me today from Pellegrini.

Wrong tactics, wrong formation, wrong team selection, wrong substitutes.

Why in would you take a striker off when you're 1-0 down and chasing the game? It's not as if Haller is tired, he hardly touched the ball and is static 90% of the game. He needs to take some tips off of Jiminez in how to run the channels and make space for other players.

Noble gave the way away countless times today and I felt sorry for Rice, constantly running back clearing up Noble's s**t.

I'm sorry but Pellegrini has to go - they're not playing for him anymore. Change is needed NOW.

1.) 04 Dec 2019 21:37:28
Nobody listening I'm afraid. We were very poor again. Haller don't care, terrible body language but then he is getting no service. We have beginnings of half decent team. but wrong leadership so we must have changes.

02 Nov 2019 16:57:24
Thought Anderson played fantastic today despite the result and the rest of the team.

Defensively we look a complete and utter shambles. Poor tactical choice of putting Zaba on instead of Fredo. Zaba got turned inside out multiple times. Midfield looked uninterested and disjointed. Not sure where we go from here. Balbuena was a horror show defensively today.

Up top, Haller is trying but not a lot he can do with the service he's getting. Ajeti was a passenger when he came on. Absolutely useless.

Lanzini looked bright when he came on.

1.) 02 Nov 2019 17:06:10
Interesting I thought Balbuena was far better than Diop and that Diop has been poor for weeks. Also thought Anderson was terrible first half as while he ran back a lot he never looked like going past anyone or creating anything till the game opened right up at 0-3.

28 Sep 2019 16:54:32
Wilshere has been extremely poor since coming on, his pass completion must be below 10%

Yarmolenko has been absolutely fantastic though!

1.) 28 Sep 2019 17:08:00
TK you are totally on it there in fact I was anticipating Bournemouth winning that with Noble going off and sorry but think Roberto is a total worty.

2.) 29 Sep 2019 22:57:47
Apparently we are close to agreeing to sign a boy who scored 35 goals for UTD at U-16'S level in a season but has turned them down MIPO ODUBEKO is his name might be a RASHFORD or GREENWOOD and not a FLETCHER. COYI.

14 Sep 2019 19:01:16
Sam Byram having an absolute blunder against city. playing incredibly well against the champions and team that spanked us 5-0 at home.

How much did we sell him for again. £750k? absolutely horrendous business from us.

1.) 14 Sep 2019 19:18:37

2.) 14 Sep 2019 19:29:33
Totally agree he was outstanding never had a chance at West Ham with the injuries I thought it was as low as £450K probably worth £10million on that display.

3.) 15 Sep 2019 07:46:59
i thought the fee of £750k was ridiculous when I read it, they may as well have given him away, perhaps Delia Smith offered all her recipe books as well in the deal! Why have we wasted time and money on the likes of Carroll, Reid, Wilshere etc on immoral wages and horrendous injury records when the likes of Byram and maybe others haven’t been afforded the same treatment? My son in law is a Forest fan and whilst he was there, couldn’t understand why we loaned him out, he thought he was outstanding at times, although yes he had injury problems, but he wouldn’t have been on £90k?

{Ed001's Note - bit of an over reaction after one game isn't it? The lad has serious problems staying fit, it was time the Hammers cleared those kind of players out. It is not just the wages that drain the club, it is higher insurance costs and paying for surgery, rehab etc.}

4.) 15 Sep 2019 08:31:26
Ed, it’s just my opinion, you have more inside info at your disposal than the average poster on here! It just bloody angers me at 5 star treatment of certain individuals that contribute very little, are they not inflicting higher costs on the club then?

{Ed001's Note - yes but Byram was not good enough when he played and you all moaned about him. Now he has gone and had one good game and you all are whining he was allowed to leave! The club can't win. He is not a top class right back, he just had a good game in a very limited role. He would not be asked to play like that for West Ham, so would not perform like that. If he could even stay fit, because there is almost no chance of him staying fit in the long term. Even at Norwich he is only a back up and will only play while Aarons is out injured.}

5.) 15 Sep 2019 09:38:54
He no longer plays for us - ‘nuff said.

6.) 15 Sep 2019 13:03:41
No we’re not all whining it was 2 comments, what’s the point in having this site if we can’t comment, you sound like you want to stifle comments and you are the one who’s always right! It’s about opinions Ed!

{Ed001's Note - if I wanted to stifle comments I would just delete them, get a grip for heaven's sake! I was giving my opinion, just like you gave yours, or is it only allowed if it agrees with yours? It is not me trying to stifle opinion.}

7.) 15 Sep 2019 16:01:55
Calm down one and all and opine away!

8.) 16 Sep 2019 08:56:15
Who moaned about Byram?

The only issue was his fitness as when he did play he always done alright! Very feisty player and the general opinion of mist West Ham players is we let him go too cheap!

9.) 16 Sep 2019 10:43:08
He is not good. enough for West hsm. He was terrible in pre season. Let's see later in the season he has had one good game. More than he ever had for us.

10.) 16 Sep 2019 22:08:16
Ed is spot on BYRAM looked out of his depth when given a chance not a great chance but he was given game time in his defence it's extremely difficult to make a name for yourself when you ain't given a 10 game run in the first 11 but Frederick is starting to prove he's a very good R/ B he was always thought to be and ED is spot on again when aarons is fit he plays so if BYRAM ain't good enough to start for NORWICH then he ain't good enough for us in not trying to get on ED'S Xmas card list but judge him after a run of 20 games in the starting 11 we will never see because he won't start that many IMO. COYI.

11.) 19 Sep 2019 14:05:46
Completely agree Worya48. While I agree with some that he did not get his full chance at WHU, when he did he was only OK. How much moaning have we all done about all the injured players on our books, Sam Byram was one of them and we got rid. I do not think any of us fans have any grounds to say the club did wrong here. High risk and was only a backup, plus we had Johnson coming through!
He is not better than Fredricks, plus I believe we have a sell on % on him, ed? 100% correct decision. It's Norwich's gain if they manage to get a good player out of what was only supposed to be a cheap backup buy, they took the high injury risk on, which NONE of us fans wanted at West Ham
Good luck to Sam at Norwich though, he's a good lad.

{Ed001's Note - I believe there is a sell on yes.}

27 Jul 2019 13:56:02
Are there any streams up for today's game gents?

1.) 27 Jul 2019 15:12:58
C&H said it was “likely” to be on Facebook via the WHUFC official site, but it’s not up yet, if it’s going to be.

I’m really pleased with the attacking XI we’re starting today.

Johnson (at his natural RB)

(I’m glad that MP agrees with me that Wilshere, Lanzini and Fornals can be in the same side! ) 😉.

Howe would be my number 1 choice

You never see bournemouth players strolling around the park - and he's done a lot better than Pelle with a lot less. He should be able to get the best out of our squad.

From what I saw on Saturday, minus a few players (Rice, who I thought had a fantastic game, and noble who put in a shift) The starting 11 looked lazy, lethargic and disinterested. Wee're lucky we had Antonio on the bench. and the 2 goals absolutely flattered us.

Lot's to work on.

I think the full back partnership is pretty nailed on as well! Fredo and Arthur both put in very good performances and they have pace to burn

Anderson is an absolute joy when his head I switched on. Haller reminds me a bit of Kanoute, great player!

I'd like to think Fornals is more of a replacement for Noble in the long run than Lanzini

Sitting slightly deeper and upping the tempo with the transition from defence to attack with Lanzini sitting behind Arnie

Just my thoughts.

Agree with a lot of the above, however.

It’s far too soon to play Reed, he hasn’t played football for years now. There’s a difference between being fit and “match” fit. He’ll get torn apart against these premier league players at the moment. He’s probably our best centre back, but he needs to be eased back in at the moment, not thrown in the deep end.

Rice for me hasn’t looked right since the England game. I think he’s a confidence player and it’s at rock bottom at the moment and it shows in his performances. Although Anderson’s final product wasn’t great today, him and Snodgrass were the only players who looked even remotely bothered today.

The defence and goalkeeper were completely abject today. Diop looks lost, balbuena is out of position every single time, and Roberto can shot stop. but that’s about it.

Haller is probably wondering what sort of mistake he’s made leaving Frankfurt. they won 3-0 the other night.

Lots to work on - a relegation dog fight is the last thing we need.

Hi Craig,

If you create an account on the west ham website you will get notifications on when the tickets are released etc. I got tickets last minute to the United game, i'd assume it would be similar with Chelsea.

Just get on the website as soon as they're released and you should be fine. There's also ticket exchange through the website as well which is another option!

Wish you the best of luck in getting the tickets for you and your dad mate, but hopefully we stuff you and big fat frank haha.

That’s because they were sizing us up for 30 minutes. Then they decided to switch gear and pumped us. Cress and Wilshere worst players on the pitch.

Fredericks had a blinder, lanzini played ok, Haller did well with what he got given, looks a class player but had nothing around him.

City are absolutely quality, and they will do that to a lot of teams this year, just unfortunate it had to be us on the first day.

Lots to do!

Fairly decent performance, nice to get 5 different players on the scoreboard.

Quality finishes from Lanzini, Fornals and Diangana. Nice finish from Antonio and nice to see Haller on the score sheet.

Wilshere a bit quiet, and Anderson needs to work on his end product still, but it’s all positive!
