Seeing lots of rumours about the Marseille CB - Duje Caleta-Car

Any news on this Ed? Apparently the player has expressed he wants to join us, £25 mil bid + add ons?

Apparently if he joined he'd be the best CB outside the top 6, I've only watched him play a few times. Seems solid and can play out from the back.

TKHammer

{Ed002's Note - Duje Caleta-Car (CB) Manchester City have made a general enquiry about availability of the left sided CB - previous interest of Seville has gone. West Ham have asked the lady from Marseille (who is in London at the moment over another matter) to meet with them on to discuss Morgan Sanson and Caleta-Car. Marseille don't want to sell this summer, the player wants to play in the Chapions League with them and expect Manchester City will follow up next summer. But they need money.}

1.) 04 Oct 2020 00:11:22
He is not coming he had a change of heart after terms agreed he wants champions league football . Shame.

04 Sep 2020 08:14:28
I've also seen a rumour that Soucek will miss the opening game against Newcastle due to have to isolate after coming into contact with someone who had the virus 19

Just our luck aye!

TKHammer

1.) 04 Sep 2020 12:47:04
I seen this so him and Rice may be missing for the Newcastle game. Might end up starting the season with wilshere and Noble in midfield against the pace of st maximin and almiron won't be looking foward to that if it's TRUE.

2.) 05 Sep 2020 17:39:22
Surely any player who might have the virus can be tested and get the results through pronto?

I’m sure both Soucek and Rice (if he’s still with us) will start v Newcastle.

3.) 05 Sep 2020 18:23:14
You would think so Marko weather they have to follow the guidelines regardless I have no idea.

4.) 05 Sep 2020 23:21:11
I am getting very anxious that Chelsea or city bid big money at the last knockings of the window leaving us with no time to get a replacement in and we all know that player is RICE and we will get left with NOBLE SNODGRASS and CULLEN to play alongside SOUCEK I'm preying not. COYI.

5.) 06 Sep 2020 01:49:27
No way they can sell Rice now never mind at the end of a window with no replacement. We will go down without him.

13 Jun 2020 18:47:24
So we beat palace 2-1 today, with Haller grabbing another goal, as well as Ngakia.

Fail to see why we'd play a player who has no intention of staying past the end of the month, unless he's reconsidered?

Looking forward to the Wolves game on Saturday.

TKHammer

1.) 14 Jun 2020 19:11:17
I think there’s plenty going on behind the scenes to try to persuade Ngakia to stay.

02 Jan 2020 14:15:14
Afternoon Ed's and happy new to all

Have any names of potential signings been let out the bag?

I feel that we desperately need a midfielder and a striker

Who would you guys like to see come in? I know January is always a difficult market but I feel like there are deals to be done

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

TKHammer

{Ed002's Note - Most of this predates the change in Manager:
Sander Berge (DM) if Declan Rice leaves - lots of interest from elsewhere - unlikely
Morgan Sanson (CM) interest may have left with MP - Marseille are awaiting to hear
Joe Allen (CM/AM) his agent has said there has been a general enquiry from West Ham
Bilel Hassaini (RW) - a player in limbo - I would just forget him
Everton Soares (LW) Lots of clubs have been looking at Everton Soares but none are interested at the Gremio asking price of €120M nor the for sale price of around €80M. I would not hold your breath at all. Over hyped with an agent happy to let a third party hawk him around to clubs who are open to the slightly odder arrangements. Never going to happen. (Agent is Marco Cruz - but assistance is coming from Kia Joorabchian}
Olivier Giroud (S) an enquiry has been made with Chelsea - but there is interest from a number of sides.
Gabriel Barbosa (S) could be very high risk but his agent is testing the waters about interest - could not settle in Italy and wants out - preferably back to Flamengo but they are struggling to find the money}

1.) 02 Jan 2020 14:36:05
Thanks Ed, much appreciated!

I’ve seen that Barbosa (Gabigol) played with Felipe Anderson at country and club level and that may be a dealbreaker for him to come? If we signed him and a midfielder to replace Sanchez and take the load off of Noble I’d see it as a good window.

{Ed002's Note - The problem with Barbosa is he has shown no ability to perform outside of Brazil. Having played with FA would make no difference really.}

2.) 02 Jan 2020 16:24:52
Any interest in any of our players? Yarmo leaving?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of right now. Size wise West Ham currently can add three players to the squad without selling (but I am sure Moyes will have noticed that it is an aging squad so at some point a plan needs to be put in place for a cull).}

3.) 02 Jan 2020 20:54:40
Cheers, Ed!

4.) 03 Jan 2020 10:33:28
Hi Ed, come over to the WHU to ask this, you mentioned Gedson Fernandes being offered to 3 prem clubs, media reporting he is in talks with WHU today, any truth in this?

{Ed002's Note - The player isn't in talks but West Ham were one of the three clubs.}

15 May 2019 12:02:05
Not sure on what your view is guys - But i'm absolutely sick to death of seeing Jonjo Shelvey linked to us. He's not the sort of player we want/ need, awful attitude and temperament. if he was half as good as what he thought he was, he'd be twice as good as he actually is!

There's a long, long list of players i'd like to see in a West Ham shirt before we resort to him. Noble makes him look bang average.

TKHammer

1.) 15 May 2019 15:13:19
I’ve never really got the Shelvey hype either. Benitez is no fool and he let Shelvey wallow out of his first team for ages.

2.) 16 May 2019 00:04:58
Each to there own point of view, but for me I'd say yes to him, he has the range of pass that we miss, the boy can ping the ball about for fun . Unless Jack gets and stays fit then I'd bring him in .

3.) 16 May 2019 08:26:54
Totally agree, Shelvey bad attitude, overrated and inconsistent. If he wasn't a Hammers fan probably never even hear about him. I'd steer clear, unless was a freebie and worth a gamble. But he's not getting into a team fighting relegation for a reason!

4.) 17 May 2019 03:33:33
He was injured for quite a while with a bad injury and took a while to win his place back Because of the emergence of longstaff and form of Hayden he also had ki and diame to compete with.

Papers are linking Hayden with us and many other London clubs as he wants to return south maybe the eds can shed some light on this?

Geordies have been raving about how good shelvey has been since he's got there I'd say this has been his worst season yet because of that injury but he does have a great range of passing, doesn't shirk a tackle can score and create. Take him out of a defensive Benitez side and put him in a possession based Pellegrini side with better players you could see all his qualities, That's what I think anyway.

{Ed001's Note - he actually didn't get back in because he was not training properly. He has a few issues with attitude.}

5.) 17 May 2019 10:08:40
West ham love a challenge ed lol or a waith and stray :)

{Ed001's Note - that's true. If you can get their heads right you can pick up a quality player on the cheap. However Shelvey is not a quality player. He is slow, cumbersome, has an awful temperament and could pick a fight in an empty room. He also has a real problem with concentration, does not work hard in training, injury-prone (another thing the Hammers seem to like in a signing) because of his lifestyle, does not look after himself outside of training, hence his well documented weight issues and will give the ball away with those Hollywood passes of his far more often than they will get through. They do look good in a highlight reel but over 90 minutes he is a liability. He was horrible when we had him at Liverpool and he has regressed since then.}

6.) 17 May 2019 10:12:57
Appreciate the info. I would hope he's quite far down on the list in that position just a case if we can get our first choice targets maybe.

{Ed001's Note - would it not be better to look at an academy player if you can't get anyone better than Shelvey? Sometimes it is better not to buy than just buy anyone!}

7.) 17 May 2019 10:57:27
Agree with Ed, gone are the days when we thought Bowyer and Dier were a calm partnership.

{Ed001's Note - they were certainly entertaining, but usually for the opposition's benefit!}

8.) 17 May 2019 11:01:24
Thanks ed :)

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

9.) 17 May 2019 13:58:12
Well for me Noble is still doing the business and it's a good point you make of promoting from within it's just a case of if they are good enough. We have Cullen, Coventry, Lewis in the youth set up maybe one of those could step and become Nobles long term replacement. Also edi Fernandes returning from loan contrary reports on if he's staying or going.

Ceballos looks like the most exciting player we have been linked to in that position that would be my priority if he would come here.

Kessie also been linked with us and who ever gets Sangare is getting a special player in my opinion .

{Ed001's Note - Hammers have an excellent youth system, may as well use it.}

10.) 17 May 2019 14:31:37
Think it’s old newspaper talk he ain’t for us like Ed said bad attitude doesn’t want to track back and picks up cards regularly.

11.) 20 May 2019 23:26:54
Ed is spot on about SHELVEY. COYI.

Fantastic first half. Cress is a different play in the back 3. Defensively sound, can play out from the back and pick his passes and has Arthur in front of him with the legs to protect him.

This back 5 is working so so well for us. We finally look balanced. Solid at the back, very good in transition and dangerous going forward. Fornals has been getting some stick recently, but my god he works hard, so glad he got the goal. Coufal looks solid as well - second half needs to be the same!

If you haven't, go and check out Simon Jordan's bit on talk sport about Ryan Fraser refusing to accept a small contract extension at bouremouth to help them during the relegation battle.

He has hit the nail on the head with some modern day footballers. Brilliant stuff.

TKHammer

1.) 12 Sep 2020 13:28:08
Read the comments attributed to Fraser in the paper saying he would have prevented them getting relegated too. Really poor in my opinion.

Mark Noble has tweeted

"As captain of this football club, I'm gutted, angry and sad that Grady has left, great kid with a great future! "

Hopefully this sends ripples throughout the club. We should not be in this position.

Most football owners should be custodians and do what's in the best interests of the club and the fans, those dildo brothers don't.

They've taken more out of the club in interest payments (18.7mil) for loans they've made to the club over the past decade than they've spent on full backs (16.5 mil) . Now that says something.

I can see that the money will hopefully be spent on strengthening the defence, but I'm still absolutely gutted.

Good luck Grady, GSB are a disgrace.

TKHammer

1.) 04 Sep 2020 23:20:27
Wouldnt be suprised to see some more coins thrown in there direction this season.

The fact Noble has come out and said that is worrying, it does echo the fans thoughts.

Wonder if Moyes had much say in the matter?

Sadly Grady has been doing what we expect of Anderson attacking the full backs with pace and skill. He really needs to pull his finger out now.

Only positive I can see from this surely it means the cannot entertain any bids for declan rice now but I wouldn't blame him for wanting to leave showing no ambition. Yes financial difficulties but then owners should absorb those not the club.

2.) 05 Sep 2020 00:21:46
Don’t disagree with the sentiment but would expect better from the club captain. It was easy to misconstrue a comment like that and the media I believe have.

3.) 05 Sep 2020 07:46:45
Agree Sdl comments like this could cause rifts. I'm sure we all wanted to see how good he is in the prem in a west ham shirt, his touch pace and skill was exciting and he was putting chances on a plate for haller. Feel like this one could come back to bite us. Young English academy product sold to relegation rivals. 18m could look like peanuts if he performs.

4.) 05 Sep 2020 07:53:16
Wilshere has posted this on Dianganas post about leaving "Go and do your thing in a club that respects you big player with a big future. ”

Just what we need going into the new season.

5.) 05 Sep 2020 08:37:45
Well perhaps if Jack wasn’t sitting around taking a massive salary for doing nothing we wouldn’t have to sell our youngsters.

6.) 05 Sep 2020 09:09:28
I have conflicting opinions on the sale of Diagana, firstly I have never seen him play except highlights of when WBA have been on TV! But my logic tells me there are reasons unknown to outsiders? I cannot understand depending on sales to buy, unless you are selling a player that You assume has no Future at the club, he is 22 so imo should have been able to have made some impact in the Premiership, look at other players that have stepped up long before that age and made an impression, Noble 19, Rice 20 ish, also is the player his own biggest admirer making demands, we’ve had a few of them, they cannot be allowed to dictate or demand selection? So I’m on the fence with this sale!
Noble should have been more diplomatic as club captain and made his comments to the Board and DM, not to appease any fans so agree with Sdl and Iron. Al. on this!
Wilshere, well what a comment coming from him when he’s been paid £millions by WH for shopping expeditions and leisure activity instead of playing! He was shown more respect and given a massive chance by people than he ever deserved! He should hang his head in shame for a comment like that! ⚒⚒⚒.

7.) 05 Sep 2020 09:54:53
Yeah I thought the same when I seen the comment from wilshere however it was ourselves that offered him the contract knowing full well the risks so we can't exactly have a go at him.

I think the board are seeing it as good money for a player who is not premiership proven to strengthen the defence rather than sell anderson at a massive loss.

As for dianganas attitude I don't think other players would be coming out saying they are gutted he is leaving if he was demanding certain things. Now I believe masuaku and a rice have came out and shared their disappointment.

Also Ed's mentioned Anderson stated he wanted to leave because of not being able to play where he wants.

Grady looked naturally very good at LW. Personally I think Anderson had more joy RW or through the middle at lazio but we have Yarmo Bowen and antonio that all look better on the right IMO. Lanzini fornals don't have the pace for LW. Personally I think the sale of Grady has made us look more lopsided.

Seen now we have apparently BID 27m for tarkowski I'm sure they were demanding 50m last season so doubt that's going anywhere. We also already have oggy diop balbuena rice than can all play CB and I think Alese or Baptiste could cover anyway but they do probably need LOans away. Maybe if it's true Moyes is looking at 3 4 3 which might suit Haller. But I'm not confident in our full backs providing great service or their defensive abilities either.

8.) 06 Sep 2020 00:58:18
I have sympathy for Moyes. He’s doing a solid job, but if GSB have sold Diagarna behind his back he should resign. How can he manage a team if they flog players behind his back. It’s a disgrace.
P. S. Hope he doesn’t resign.

9.) 05 Sep 2020 23:14:15
Hiya chelms I totally agree with NOBLE who as a player I've never rated because if he was any good he wouldn't be at WHUFC coming out publicly because that's exactly what SULLY and BRADY are very good at so what's good for them don't not expect a response in your direction I understand we don't know the t's and c's and why's and nots of the DIANGANA sale but these players with quality he has are hard to find i know SULLY likes older and more experienced players but come on you have to have young hungry and fearless players and the part I am really struggling with is WBA really he ain't going to win nothing with us or them so that's the baffling part what's your views and have you heard any gossip on the transfer please Ed. COYI.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing aside from the offer to Burnley for James Tarkowski.}

04 Sep 2020 08:11:49
It seems we've now pulled out of the Benrahma deal. I feel Brentford have tried their luck, knowing the fee that we'll be getting in for Grady and have upped the price. The funds will now go on strengthening the defence, which I feel is the best possible outcome of the Grady sale. If we manage to bring in a young solid CB and LB then unfortunately it's probably a good deal.

It's just extremely bizarre that we're one of the only clubs pleading poverty during the virus. Chelsea spending north of £200 mil. Villa, Palace, West brom, Everton to mention a few have all strengthened in various positions.

Our attack in the games following the virus looked sharp. 1 or 2 injuries could completely change that though.

Let's hope we're not gambling and end up having a solid defence, but left short up front. Time will tell!

TKHammer

1.) 04 Sep 2020 11:31:40
Agree, TK.

The priority must be conceding fewer goals.

Full stop.

Does any point me in the right direction of where I can watch the Reading game today? There's nothing showing on our Youtube channel.

TKHammer

1.) 01 Sep 2020 14:59:24
There’s nothing about a Reading game anywhere for the first team. The WHUFC website lists our home game v Bournemouth as our next fixture (05/ 09.)

2.) 01 Sep 2020 15:30:12
I've just seen that it has been cancelled

There was due to be a friendly today though!

3.) 01 Sep 2020 17:18:14
Yeah Reading called it off last week.

Also the many clubs that have bought players in, have sold players to raise funds and make space.

Unfortunately we put Lanzini, Anderson and Wilshere up for sale - Due to their form and lack of playing time last season, its obvious why clubs aren't queueing up to sign them.

The segment I read also went on to say that two first team players had a "bust up" in training the following day.

Possibly the worst preparation for Newcastle you could possible ask for. Hopefully Noble and Moyes get a grip on the team - I'd like to see an angry performance on Saturday, bit of aggression in the tackle, winning the 50/ 50s and ending with a win.

Upon reflection, I agree Chelmsford

I was initially angered and quite sad that Grady had been sold, but I've just adopted the mentality that the owners won't change. They're experienced, thick skinned and hardened business men. A few tweets and protecting fans will not bother them in the slightest.

We just need to get behind the team and see how we start the season. As long as the hardworking mentality is there, you can't fault them. We absolutely have to get behind Moyes because he has absolutely earned it.

Agreed Markro

I think this is the start of something (I'm hoping ) That Moyes has had time with the squad and let go who he feels isn't good enough. I think terminating Wilshere contract was the best route as he's on 100k, with people like Declan (our captain and arguably best player) on 30k a week - surely that must piss him off sometimes. I would have kept Cullen for cover as he only had a year left on his contract and could have left next year, i doubt he was on high wages.

I'm hoping the money brought in from this transfer will be used in the next 2 weeks to get a player or two in from the league below who fit Moyes system (hard working and committed) . Then there is always time to strengthen in December/ January

Fully agree with your assessment on our starting 11, we just need a bit of cover in case of injuries.

Haller's face after the goal was - I've scored 4 goals in 2 games in the cup. I've been on the pitch for 2 minutes and i've scored.

Play me. Either start me or bring me on for at 25-30 minutes.

I agree that Antonio is on fire at the moment and rightly keeping Haller out of the starting line up, but he needs to definitely be given more than 2 minutes per game.

No chelsea swaps - as COYI64 said, let them stump up the cash. Mr Abramovich isn't short of money, so let him dig deep into his pockets. Cash is King.

I'd absolutely hate to see Rice leave and would prefer to hold onto him, but £80m in cash would essentially allow Moyes to land every single one of his top transfer targets.
