Apparently Moyes hasn't agreed on any of the options put infront of him but we could make a big signing in a position we don't necessarily need.

Wonder who that could be Kamara?

Bayern and dortmund still looking at hlozek but moyes doesn't fancy him very strange I'm sure when he came in moyes said he wanted to bring in young talent, Hlozek being one of the most promising teenage strikers in Europe and us needed a striker I can't make it make sense. If it wasn't for the czech connection we would probably have little to no chance of actually bringing in hlozek.

If he goes and fulfils his potential we are going to look very stupid. If he comes to us and doesn't set the world alight I'm sure no one could really blame Moyes at all.

A new tea lady from Man City maybe? I understand she has the best access to biscuits and is part of why they have achieved so well. But we have offered a loan to buy so will be interesting to see if Man City respond positively as Pep likes his tea.

2.) 20 Jan 2022 10:11:11
Hlozek looks decent . where do people see him playing though?
As our 2nd striker to Antonio?
As backup to Bowen?
Left side we seem stocked up with Benrahma and Vlasic, while centre is Lanzini's and Fornals, and right is Bowen's all day long. I only see him fitting in at WHU as Bowen backup, as iv not seen him play ST before. This COULD free Bowen up to rotate with Antonio some more until Summer and ease our striker issues a little.
As a Moyse winger, the big question i think is about his defensive ability and workrate. As we know Moyes likes workers and wingers who contribute defensively, I've not seen enough of Hlozek outside of the Euros (where he got little game time) and he doesn't seem to be in the Bowen model to me (could be wrong tho). He seems very attack focused, not quite a luxury player but certainly not your all action wide player. Certainly a talent though, and i see he has played up top before so maybe ST could be his future?

3.) 21 Jan 2022 00:12:14
He plays generally as a wide player cutting in so not really a target man. Can't see Moyes going for him really.

4.) 21 Jan 2022 09:11:28
I think he's played more as a second striker this season or even as CAM more of a creator than an out and out goal scorer but he's definitely capable of doing both looks really talented if he was playing out wide for us he would be expected to track back maybe not his strong point now but he's 19 and Moyes could definitely coach that into him when you look at how much said, fornals and Bowen have improved in that sense. However I think his natural progression would be to play Central.

He would definitely help with rotation and give us options I'd much rather bring on a young promising forward than Yarmolenko and masuaka and I think there would be plenty game time in the cups for him.

31 Dec 2021 13:46:44
Moyes didn't seem to optimistic about this window. Hopefully he's just trying to play expectations down but I'm not so sure.

Sven Botman is supposed to be available not sure why we aren't all over this left footed, young with huge potential.

1.) 31 Dec 2021 22:39:30
January is difficult as teams don’t want to let someone go without a replacement. I think the real hope might be in a loan if a player is not getting a game like Lingard last season, a player that will be free in July might convince a club to cash in, or a player from lower division or lesser league like Czech where the player will push for the Premier League opportunity. Any big name contracted player from a big league is unlikely to be sold.

2.) 01 Jan 2022 07:03:56
Trust Moyse and Newman. They know what they’re doing. I feel happier now that Kretinsky is on board (in both senses). He has the experience, drive and financial expertise to move us forward.

The Jan market is always a difficult one. We will get players in, but they might not be the various superstars being touted.

Exciting times, though.

3.) 01 Jan 2022 11:26:00
The comment he made stating they want to act but are not ready to act was a strange one.

Apparently there is someone he wants but the club don't want to sell in January. Let's say its the striker we've needed for the past 2-3 windows what happens if someone else comes in the summer or we fall down the table and the player no longer wants to come. We are back to square one searching and will be looking at a lower caliber of player.

Now if the club just won't sell at all then not much we can do but perhaps if we can temp them with a higher offer then you'd have to at least try, I don't see a problem paying a premium for a player you definitely want considering the price could easily go up with good performances anyway and if its player you are certain on they could help us stay in top 6 and compete in europa.

4.) 01 Jan 2022 14:25:35
I think we will at least get a centre half and an attacking midfielder, striker could well be too costly in this window, there's a lot of competition driving prices up

5.) 01 Jan 2022 21:23:29
There is increasing buzz that the Cabral deal is sorted.

6.) 01 Jan 2022 23:11:15
Did read that about Cabral will be interesting as the club have really played down any early deals

7.) 02 Jan 2022 20:39:04
Cabral looks good certainly wouldn't mind us getting him.

Since the window has opened we have also been linked to Breel Embolo and Adama traore the latter rumour was squashed by C&H. Probably just media linking us with players of a similar build to Antonio.

We could definitely use some more pace as a different option.

8.) 03 Jan 2022 07:23:14
i like A.Traore hard to shake off the ball and strong as an OX and pace to burn with the right coaching i think he would fit nicely into WH. and also left back Degne from Everton
i don't think our centre backs have played badly the problem has been Masuaku although Ben Johnson has been outstanding playing left and right back Oh let's not forget Iingard he's a must if available

9.) 03 Jan 2022 08:38:19
I would be delighted to get Traore! Rated him from his M’boro days, apparent rumour Wolves want possible £20m, drifts in and out of games but what a player, creates, can score, I would rate him as fantastic deal at £20m in the current market, yes please??plus Lingard?? wow, but that’s dreaming!
⚒⚒⚒⚒

10.) 03 Jan 2022 13:48:48
Traore has not registered one goal or one assist this season, he has no end product whatsoever, I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole, never fulfilled his potential, Lingard is a must if avaliable though

11.) 03 Jan 2022 15:57:38
Ahh that old Adama Traore chestnut. Let's put it this way. 157 Premier League appearances - 7 goals. Our very own favourite scapegoat Andriy Yarmalenko, 56 Premier League appearances 7 goals. To pay money to replace Andriy with someone worse would be utter madness.

And anyone who thinks that Moyes could fashion a striker out of a really bad winger, Traore has played 25 PL games as a striker. 0 goals.

All the pace in the world is pointless if you have the footballing brain of an Ostrich.

12.) 03 Jan 2022 17:46:54
Exwhuemployee has come out and said he doesn't think it's someone we are looking at.

His best season in prem was 4 goals 9 assists. Other seasons it's all been 1s and 2s

0 for assisted and goals this season with 10 starts and 6 sub appearances weirdly he has 4 MOTM performances.

Although I think it's unlikely we are looking at him and I'd rather have embolo or lingard it wouldn't be the worst signing in the world he can get you up the pitch 30-40 yards and often gets doubled up which would create space for the technically better players.

13.) 04 Jan 2022 00:07:25
I doubt Traore would be a target what point? He can’t score. I think Tarkowski is unlikely, why would Burnley sell now? Staying up is worth more than the cash from selling him. Ake is still getting a game at City so why would they sell? I think it will be really hard to do much business unfortunately. If we can get 1 or 2 we will have done well.

14.) 04 Jan 2022 17:34:38
Hlozek, please. He wants to come to us and is a great talent with an exciting future.

06 Oct 2021 16:57:27
Looks like the Newcastle takeover is going to go through. I think that means they will have the richest owners in world football.

We definitely will need new owners in the next couple years to establish ourselves as a regular in Europe.

Iron.Al

1.) 08 Oct 2021 01:44:17
Yes if you consider in a season or two Newcastle are likely to be up around the top with Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, it doesn't leave a lot of room for qualification for Europe without spending money.

2.) 08 Oct 2021 14:52:05
Might take longer than a season or 2 considering they could still drop down to the championship this season but definitely they will be a force in the future with that kind of money at their disposal. I've lived in Newcastle for the past 20 years so it's en extra Derby for me, the irony for me is as much as they hate Mike Ashley if it wasn't for him running the club the way he has done they would be a lot less attractive for a super rich investor as they can come in and spend a lot of money without having to worry about FFP.

3.) 08 Oct 2021 19:18:56
January will be interesting.

4.) 11 Oct 2021 03:27:13
Their first job is to distance their club from Mike Ashly so i think their priority will to get a high profile manager in to replace Steve Bruce, if they are smart enough they should bring in Shearer mebe not as manager but some sort of advisor which the fans would love, it would take 3-4 months to get the right manager unless they already have one in mind, it will take time just like Man. City did when they were taken over replacing Mark Hughs with Mancini.
There first priority is to keep in the Premiership so Bruce will be their until Christmas.
What a great club to buy i wish them well although i wished they had purchased WH.

5.) 11 Oct 2021 22:36:33
I see Rio has suggested they go after Sterling, Lingard and Rice, it was bad enough when he was suggesting Man U go after Rice, but Newcastle? does Rio have no loyalty now he is a BT pundit? Maybe he isn't allowed to, but backing PAI, saying how he supports the club and the takeover attempt, and then suggesting other clubs go after West Ham players, he should stop trying to pretend he cares as he has made his position very clear.

6.) 20 Oct 2021 08:29:31
Attracting top players will be hard until they climb the league, i think it will take 2-3 seasons before they start competing for the premiership then the champions league.
It will take time but what a journey they are going on i say good luck to them and to buy a club like Newcastle for 300 mil. was good business.
Their is no way any one will buy WH at the valuation which has been talked about for a club that doesn't even own their own ground.

7.) 22 Oct 2021 09:19:15
Their first hurdle is persuading St Maximin to stay.

31 Aug 2021 00:03:49
Rather we developed Coventry than take loftus cheek on loan.

Iron.Al

1.) 31 Aug 2021 10:51:45
He looked good pre season
But better he gets game time as he lookslike he needs to be playing rather than 10/ 20 minutes here and there
What chelsea reportedly want in loan few for loft-cheek that's never going to happen.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 11:27:44
Depends 20 minutes here and there in the europa league would be great experience and would give us a good idea if he could step up were rice or soucek to get injured. Noble and lanzini can't emulate what we lose if we were to lose one of those but I think Coventry can give us something similar if he can raise his game to the level.

On the other hand regular football will also be great for him but could leave us short.

RLC looked great quite a few seasons ago but he's looked poor the last few in my opinion his stats are awful and he's injury prone which for me is another reason to let Coventry cover.

3.) 31 Aug 2021 12:41:29
Im thinking they must have loan lined up if there letting him go
Same with Odubeko
Well hopeing 🤞.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 15:28:46
Maybe Mo it's looking like Kral and Bamba. Hope Bamba is good up top as striker should have been the priority.

5.) 01 Sep 2021 00:47:38
If Antonio gets his usual hammy injury after between 6-8 games then Vlasic can play up top he's very quick as well though seems in the mould of Benrhama and as we are going to lose him to the africa cup of nations then he'd be a like for like with benhrama and a bit more pace i think ZOUMA and KRAL are very good captures and i think they could become a partnership as i think KRAL use to play there is that right please ED.

{Ed077's Note - Kral has played CB in the past.

30 Aug 2021 16:39:07
Apparently we have agreed a fee for taglafico any truth in this?

Iron.Al

{Ed002's Note - As I said previously I am not sure the “level of agreement” - he has been available all summer following an agreement with the club a year ago - but clubs have been stepping back due to the requested deal.}

1.) 30 Aug 2021 22:16:59
Thanks Ed, claret and Hugh stating their club insiders have denied the move. I really need to stop getting my hopes up.

Lingard apparently staying at Manu for family reasons according to exwhuemployee

It's to late in the window for u-turns so hopefully we get vlasic signed. With all the twists and turns so far I really need to stop getting my hopes up.

Seems to be a bit of mystery around who we are trying to bring in on loan. Loftus cheek being mooted.

Striker would be nice.

Does anyone know why we signed Alves seemed like a strange signing at the time?

Iron.Al

1.) 14 Jan 2022 21:09:05
I believe one for the future and is why he was loaned to Sunderland to get game time but has been recalled because he wasn’t getting time. Also read somewhere that Kratinsky has asked why we have players out on loan and at the same time are trying to buy players in the same positions, not sure if that impacts at all?

2.) 14 Jan 2022 22:52:17
Well there's Kretinskys answer we are looking at players in those positions because they can't get games in lower divisions. i'm surprised Coventry couldn't break into the Peterborough team he looked good for us in preseason.

If Alves can't break into Sunderlands team then he shouldn't be anywhere near ours I hope kretinsky doesn't think these players are at the level they clearly have a long way to go.

3.) 15 Jan 2022 09:17:39
Kretinsky is looking at the running of the club through fresh eyes and rightly so after investing £m’s in the club, I would as well! He’s possibly thinking WTF have they bought Alves for and he’s not the only one, I don’t buy into this “he’s one for the future”, what is our Academy for then, that can’t be bad for Academy players that are just average, earning £10,000 plus a week with no pressure on them, maybe the system needs overhauling?

Somebody is just hoping for a big pay day if that player becomes another Rice in the future, money wasted imo?
⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒

4.) 16 Jan 2022 18:38:04
Agreed buddy, I don't know why we keep buying these young players, loan them out and then sell them?

5.) 17 Jan 2022 00:02:04
Hiya chelms I don't understand why KRAL wasn't replacing SOUCEK in a defensive midfield role letting Rice to get forward now and then but we have got away with playing Playmaker who's 10 stone soaking wet and cannot tackle I'm talking about LANZINI I'm not saying you have to be a unit to play there I.e MAKELELE,KANTE but they can tackle chelms what's your view on this matey.

6.) 17 Jan 2022 16:02:34
Whorya, I agree with you?As great as DM has done for us, I find some of his decisions baffling especially on subs unless they’re is an injury concern, that’s not a complaint merely a comment! As SDI said he’s non movement on transfers, obviously not knowing what’s going on behind the scenes, is like looking for the perfect girlfriend, they don’t exist and if they do, we certainly ain’t going to get him!

When I saw Dan Perkins come on, it looked like a schoolboy coming on, that’s fine if we’re 3-0 up, but that doesn’t mean the boy’s no good, just that we need beef up front that can rough and shake defences up!
I have previously posted when it became apparent Antonio was struggling last season, Mitrovitch (Fulham) Woods (Now Newcastle) someone that is not frightened to put it about, even Andy Carrol would look good now if he was fit as Mainlander jokingly posted??
⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒

7.) 20 Jan 2022 13:43:56
Re Alves at Sunderland - 39 yr old Defoe would be ahead of him; and he is a striker haha

14 Jan 2022 12:04:41
Realistically how much game time would Bowen get at Liverpool and would it be enough to get into the England squad?

Personally I think the likes of Dec and Bowen are developing absolutely fine here that being said how much do you think we should be asking for Bowen/how much do you think we could get?

Iron.Al

1.) 14 Jan 2022 21:05:26
Agree but does Bowen want a handful of England caps or the chance at a title or cup? That is what he would weigh up.

2.) 14 Jan 2022 21:47:54
He wouldn't just be getting a handful of England caps he would be playing every week at West ham where he is a fan favourite not a bit part play also winning a cup with us would be more special than winning it with them, we are certainly capable. A couple more good signings we could hold on to this top 4 spot we've come through almost having our full back 4 out and we are still going strong.

Personally I think we have to hold firm silly price tag if you want our best players we are right up there we should continue to show ambition.

3.) 15 Jan 2022 08:29:46
Don’t disagree at all Iron.Al, in fact in violent agreement, however we are fans and slightly biased.

4.) 15 Jan 2022 10:44:58
1. Our squad seems as happy as I have known it for years.

2. Last season and so far this season show we are genuinely competitive.

3. We do not need to sell any players we don’t want to.

4. The board is looking to strengthen the squad.

5. We are in Europe this season and on target to repeat that.

Make of that lot what you will, but it sure warms my cockles.

5.) 15 Jan 2022 21:16:44
Simply we're massive!

6.) 15 Jan 2022 21:19:08
We also know whatever players say, there are many after the big paydays and why not when they are finished at 35, or before if a bad injury affects their career, unless a top earner has been sensible like Robbie Fowler who apparently owns over 80 properties, net worth £31m, Michael Owen into Horses, net worth £60m!

I see Rice and Bowen as really grounded and sensible men, if they do go, which I hope they don’t, they will be shrewd hopefully and not end up like some other ex top professionals down on their heels!
⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒

16 Dec 2021 12:23:42
Performances have dipped so much since the international break. We always used to look in control playing the games on our terms choosing when to play, when to press, when to sit deep. Now we have pretty much regressed into sitting deep not looking that threatening on the break and occasionally attempting a weak press. Is it injuries? Confidence? Moyes tactics? Fatigue? Looks abit of everything to me.

Hopefully we batter Norwich but they must be looking at us and thinking its the perfect time to play us and I wouldn't be surprised if we lost based on how we've been playing.

Iron.Al

1.) 16 Dec 2021 13:58:01
Iron Al, know what you mean mate, but when our only striker is not on form we’ve got no one up top to hit with the passes or to play a through ball to run onto as he looks knackered and slow at the moment, January can’t come soon enough and we need to get players in early January and not deadline day, also noticed Moyes wasn’t happy with Coufal basically saying it was an easy tackle to make therefore should not have given a penalty away and been sent off.

2.) 16 Dec 2021 14:45:26
Yeah I agree we don't seem to be hitting the channels anymore sometimes it's hard to see what Antonio is doing off screen if he is still making those runs. I can see he is getting out fought now looks like he's fighting on empty a lot of the time.

The thing what annoys me though we have had ample time and multiple windows to get a Striker in and haven't managed it, now we are paying the price.

Surprised at Moyes maybe he knows coufal can take it and sends a message to others to buck their ideas up abit.

Not a pen in my eyes don't think anyone truly believed it was even when they sat justifying you could tell.

3.) 16 Dec 2021 20:54:26
Well with Norwich now off gives us a break I guess. So many players playing below what they have, Antonio, Soucek, Coufal, Fornals and sorry but Arthur is not a left back and Benrahma ain’t a Premier League player.

4.) 17 Dec 2021 13:50:03
Could argue benrahma also fits into the category of playing below what they have. Things just don't seem to be clicking anymore, we are out of form but at least we aren't getting battered and we've had some big calls go against us. Mick not touching the ball then being ruled offside, denied clear pen against Burnley, incorrectly down to 10 men against arsenal.

Wouldn't mind seeing one of the young wingers given a chance they'll certainly increase the energy and could provide the spark to get us going. Maybe okoflex, chesters.

09 Dec 2021 22:42:08
Coventry would have been better than Kral.

Iron.Al

1.) 09 Dec 2021 23:36:39
Kral seems to me to tackle ok, then seems to have the vision, but then his foot skills don't seem to back his vision. Tried a few defense splitting passes, balls over the top etc. which if they came off would be good, but all of them ended up going to the opposition. But overall a good night which I can't remember saying for a long time when the team have lost. Was impressed by the two wide defenders, especially Longelo getting forward. A few times he was badly positioned at crosses but he will get better. The two central defenders did well but for that one lapse where they both went for the same ball. And Perkins made himself a menace even though he was outnumbered and out sized. All in all good to see them have a go and after conceding so early not drop but keep going till the end. Was good to see Fornals go off after 45 minutes and the rest of what I expect to be the starting line up on the weekend all huddled up keeping warm and safe from injury.

2.) 10 Dec 2021 07:33:14
Good summary. It was a shame we didn’t score, but the youngsters acquitted themselves well.

3.) 10 Dec 2021 09:00:38
Couldn’t get the game on unfortunately! But for the amount of youngsters given the chance against an experienced Euro competition Zagreb side, they seem to have equipped themselves really well, according to the posts on here, it would have given them a lot of confidence!
Gave our regular first teamers a rest, so hope we can get 3 points on Sunday as Spurs are snapping at our heels with a game in hand and only 2 points behind us! Well done youngsters and DM and staff. ⚒⚒⚒ COYI

4.) 10 Dec 2021 20:24:29
Kral has played about 3 games against man u he was good he played with a youth team last night give him a chance lol

5.) 11 Dec 2021 20:30:09
We will see on Kral, what concerned me when we signed him I looked at his stats and the amount of times he give the ball away with a poor first touch was high and the amount of fouls he give away was high while in a league no where near as good as the prem.

If Moyes rated him surely we could have rested soucek and Rice more in those euro games.

24 Oct 2021 15:53:20
Rested their full team in the europa conference and still couldn't beat us.

3.) 24 Oct 2021 20:12:09

Yes just like when he signed jordan Hugill for 9m in 2017. Masterstroke.

Other signings have been solid though Bowen, Soucek, Dawson, Zouma, Benrahma, Vlasic. Soucek basically recommended coufal.

At the time it was rumour that Benrahma was being pushed heavily by sulli. Not sure who's idea it was on soucek great signing.

Mad to think when Haller was sold we all thought Moyes had someone lined up that fit his style of play, 2 years on the closest we've got to bringing in a striker is a 33 year old Andy Carroll visiting his mates in the training car park.

I know he wants to be savvy but no inform striker is going to come cheap you may have to pay a bit over the odds but that's got to be a risk worth taking especially for a striker who's goals could keep us competitive across the competitions. Asking a hell of a lot from this squad but all the hard work could be undone by a couple injuries and fatigue.
