Any truth we're actively scouting John McGinn from Hibs? Hope not - bang average SPL player, not what we need at CM if we're to have a better season next term. Mind you, he'll be cheap. The entire Hibs squads only worth £9M.

Would prefer getting that midlothian nipper harry cochrane looks like he will have a bright future ahead of him only 16 though I think. Looks good for the level he plays at for how young he is.

Might be hearts can't remember.

3.) 19 Feb 2018 23:10:42
Actually ain't that the same team? Lol.

{Ed007's Note - Yeah it's like West Ham and Millwall, people outside the area find it hard to tell the difference between all the small clubs in London.}

hahaha, ouch eds you've really hurt my feelings I so sorry don't really watch much of the spl I prefer to watch the southern football league pd.

{Ed007's Note - I don't watch much of the English Pub League myself, Noel. Burnley v Huddersfield and Watford v Bournemouth isn't exactly the pinnacle of the beautiful game.}

fair enough just the local team to support and help out with as and when I am able to. the funding isn't really much.

The Red Bull model that Moyes bangs on about, younger players for the future etc. To quote the man himself:

“I don’t see our model that we should go and buy all the most expensive players in the world, because I don’t see that as a long-term future for West Ham, ” he said.

“I use the Red Bull model as an example, because I see them buying in young players for the future. "

Nikola Maksimovic may well end up being an astute signing but he's in no way, at 30 this year a younger player for the future. That was what I meant by the Red Bull comment.

He'd have been my first choice as well. He's flown under the radar a bit but I'd not be at all surprised to see one of the usual big European club suspects to be sniffing around once he's recovered.

Hardly the Red Bull approach that's been oft touted but as you say, he's a decent player and on a free is sensible business.

What I'm not so enamoured with are the rumours linking us to freebies Marega, Aboubakar and Lundstram. The first two are 30 this year and aren't exactly prolific in defensively inferior leagues, so I'm highly doubtful either would have much, if any success in the PL.

As for Lundstram. meh, he's proving this season exactly why Everton had him running around in Leagues 1 and 2 for so many years before finally offloading him to Oxford. Nowhere near good enough to be a PL player despite one flash in the pan season last time out.

More worryingly, you'd have to suspect that he'd be being eyed as an alternate for Rice rather than Noble. Could you imagine the uproar in the Summer if Rice goes for big money and we sign Lundstram on a free as a replacement?!

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you mean about Red Bull.}

I can't shake the feeling that after Moyes false #9 comments we're not going to sign a striker this window. Madness. We're not Man City. Just because they can do it does not mean we should. To compare us to them is laughable and asking for a lot of trouble.

Considering Kieron Dyer, Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshire all managed to pass their medicals you have to wonder how exactly Benrahma has managed to failed his.

If we really are interested, Could that possibly mean Lingard is heading back to Utd?

Transfermarkt have him (Orsic) valued at £6.75m. After his exploits this season that'll end up closer to something daft like £25m and that's probably too much for a player who's 29 this year. Don't think we should be getting in to a bidding war with Arsenal for him to be honest.

LW and utility player, Lukas Provod from our old favourites Slavia Prague looks very decent and would be worth a look - 5 years younger and a lot less money than Orsic.

That's another £10M added to his value. I wonder what kind of bid it would take to make Sullivan's eyes bulge.

Saying a player is going nowhere and rejecting a huge transfer bid are not necessarily mutually exclusive in the world of football club chairmen imho.

We haven't won a game this season when Noble has started. Don't think that's going to change today.

Isn't he and all of his family Rangers fans? That alone would rule him out I'd imagine!

BillyDWhizz

{Ed007's Note - Moyes grew up supporting Rangers but he signed for Celtic when he was 12 but eventually left in 1983 after only playing in 20 odd first-team games.}

15 PL goals last season isn't at all bad and he absolutely monstered it for Villa in the Championship the season before, 25 in 37 games or something like that.

My only real issue is his price and wages. Since he's contracted to 2023, Chelski are likely to put a £40m+ price tag on him and the player himself was/ is hankering for a £130k a week deal - Not sure our lot would stretch to that in all honesty. If he was £25M and £80k a week then it's a no brainer but much more than that and he suddenly looks expensive.
