Any truth we're actively scouting John McGinn from Hibs? Hope not - bang average SPL player, not what we need at CM if we're to have a better season next term. Mind you, he'll be cheap. The entire Hibs squads only worth £9M.

Would prefer getting that midlothian nipper harry cochrane looks like he will have a bright future ahead of him only 16 though I think. Looks good for the level he plays at for how young he is.

Might be hearts can't remember.

Actually ain't that the same team? Lol.

{Ed007's Note - Yeah it's like West Ham and Millwall, people outside the area find it hard to tell the difference between all the small clubs in London.}

hahaha, ouch eds you've really hurt my feelings I so sorry don't really watch much of the spl I prefer to watch the southern football league pd.

{Ed007's Note - I don't watch much of the English Pub League myself, Noel. Burnley v Huddersfield and Watford v Bournemouth isn't exactly the pinnacle of the beautiful game.}

fair enough just the local team to support and help out with as and when I am able to. the funding isn't really much.

If Utd are set on signing him, they'll get him imo.

It's all a bit of a Rio Ferdinand flashback moment to be honest. Leeds wanted him and came up with a then record amount to sign him and *poof* he was gone.

We hasn't changed as a club that much in the last 19 years I'm afraid, so we'll always be vulnerable to losing our best young players to bigger teams, Issa Diop and Declan Rice are no exceptions - although I think Rice will stay for a couple more years at least, not sure Diop's got the same kind of connection with the club and may find it a bit easier to walk away - pure speculation on my part of course!

As for a swap? Nah it's alright thanks, I wouldn't want any of the Utd CB's but would be reasonably happy if £60M were to actually come our way for Diop. We could then move for someone like Maripan and have a large wedge left over to continue strengthening the squad.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather Diop stays as he'll develop in to a CB as good as anyone, anywhere in any league but at the end of the day. money talks.

41 league goals in 76 games over the past 3 seasons and that includes him having his obligatory hissy fit during one of them. Available on a free? Complete no brainer, instantly becomes the best CF the club's had for years and he's still only 28. Pros outweigh the cons in my eyes.

Sturridge and Welbeck wouldn't be bad back up options on a free provided they weren't on stupid money or long contracts. It Would help the home grown quota too - a lot.

Sturridge, as far as I'm aware got through last season with no major issues but admittedly was used sparingly by Klopp. Welbeck I think, is fit again after his ankle surgery. Hmmm. Both good players. When they're fit.

Could be worth a punt if Arnie's staying and Pelle really is looking to bring in another main man for the CF position. Striking options of Arnie, A. N. Other, Welbeck and Sturridge wouldn't be half bad.

We're interested in him all the time season tickets are up for renewal. After that, we'll be back to scouring the Turkish leagues and players from relegated clubs again.

Ben Johnson can indeed do a job for us this season. But he's a right back.

If he was only even a year younger, we should be all over him but £15M + big wages for a player we'd be looking to replace after about 18 months seems a bit pointless and pricey. Besides, I reckon Villa, should they go up would be pretty much nailed on as a destination for him.

He could play for free for all I care, the point is he's a waste of a squad place - A place better utilised by signing a player who's capable of playing more than a game or two before succumbing to yet another long term injury.

Yeah, I don't believe a word of that story either.

You're correct he never had pace, now he has even less. You're advocating us signing a player who's been on the decline for a couple of seasons now in order to help with our FB problems? We tried that before with Patrice Evra and we all remember how that worked out.

Even Zabs has shown himself to be getting leggy recently although I'd never fault his application. Picking up ageing players just because they were good once is a bad habit we need to get out of.

I can think of better options for the £70k a week Baines would want - Alberto Moreno for instance, £40k a week and 8 years younger.

Too old and too slow. There's a reason he's only played 90 minutes 3 times in the league this season.
