Phil Jones in January anyone?

1.) 20 Oct 2020 11:31:41
There’s a lot games between now n Jan.

2.) 20 Oct 2020 11:37:46
Nope, to clumsy and erratic for me, if his on a free and willing to pay as you play but for every yellow card or foul conceded he gets fined, it would be a sensible move as well be in credit after each match.

3.) 21 Oct 2020 11:51:03
I’ve seen that we would have to pay £20m for him, no chance, we can do better than that.

4.) 21 Oct 2020 13:25:04
Left out of PL squad too -- clearly a reason he's been (r) ejected.

5.) 21 Oct 2020 19:15:41
Ed’s. given that premier league squads have now been submitted, does that mean free agents would need to wait until January before they could make a premier league appearance (if they were signed), or could they be added to the premier league squad if there is space?

{Ed002's Note - If there is space in the squad it is possible to add free agents at any time (assuming they were free agents at some point during the last transfer window.) So West Ham could sign and play Samir Nasri if they have space.}

6.) 21 Oct 2020 21:33:34
Thanks Ed.

Yeah I don’t think any West Ham fan would take Nasri back. Haha.

{Ed002's Note -Balotelli?}

7.) 22 Oct 2020 06:27:39
What had you heard Ed? Haha.

8.) 22 Oct 2020 09:37:01
Any decent strikers Ed on as free agents?, thinking about it that question basically contradicts itself lol.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think West Ham are looking but there are folks like Mario Mandzukic, Mario Balotelli, Alexandre Pato and Daniel Sturridge who are looking for clubs.}

16 Oct 2020 17:28:35
Three deal sheets in with FA so two hours extensions.

29 Sep 2020 13:43:10
Sky Sports saying we are bidding for Vladmir Coufal from Slavia Prague.

{Ed002's Note - Slavia Prague have indeed said that West Ham have returned - it is a surprise and he is well down the list for West Ham - but will be cheap and he is available.

Additionally, Nikola Maksimovic (CB) Everton, West Ham and Inter Milan have all spoken to Napoli about Maksimovic.}

1.) 29 Sep 2020 14:29:42
I have to say I’m surprised we are in for Vladimir Coufal. Having seen his stats his average at best. His ratings are mid 6.5 out of 10 in Czech league.
I’m pretty sure Ben Johnson would be comparable to that. Just seems a lot of money for an average player.

{Ed002's Note - I agree.}

2.) 29 Sep 2020 14:57:43
I know nothing of Coufal, but do we seriously believe we will get any more than an average at best player, with our financial implications? But after Sunday’s performance do we need any more than cover? ⚒⚒⚒.

3.) 29 Sep 2020 15:14:22
Just seen that a loan bid for Coufal has been rejected?

{Ed002's Note - Given he is valued at very little I imagine they were surprised witha loan offer.}

4.) 29 Sep 2020 15:21:47
Ed, is he valued at £4m, if so why don’t they just buy him if they want him?

{Ed002's Note - I would doubt it would be any more Stevie. The lesson to be learned is don't buy players simply for the sake of it.}

5.) 29 Sep 2020 15:43:32
Soucek will, I’m sure, have an opinion on how good he might, or might not be.

6.) 29 Sep 2020 19:22:43
I’m with Ed on this one. Why buy for the sake of buying. Based upon his player ratings, it makes more sense to loan him and see how he shapes than buy him outright, no matter how low the price. If he’s say £4m and we pay him £20,000 a week which isn’t much. On a 4 year contract that’s still £8m wasted if he languishes in the reserves.

7.) 29 Sep 2020 19:37:30
I would seen they have seen enough videos of him and scouted him this loan move maybe due to fredericks limping of.

8.) 29 Sep 2020 20:36:15
As always we've left it too late and are now desperate.

9.) 29 Sep 2020 20:53:44
Mac. You need to realise that it’s a strange old time with clubs facing financial difficulty.
I don’t think it’s a case of leaving it too late. I think it’s a case if trying to bring in first choice players on a limited budget and having to look down the bottom of the list now.
What you will probably find is that instead of buying players like Tarkowski who we can’t afford and putting them straight into the side, the stance has probably changed and we will make do with what we have and start them and use some 2nd or 3rd choices as back up players.
This I was always going to be the plan if we couldn’t get players we want. However, if we can’t get the 1st choice players who improve the side then it’s better to loan other players until we top up the coffers, make do with what we have and buy the 1st choice players in next window.
Makes perfect business sense to me mate.

10.) 29 Sep 2020 22:00:10
Honest I never realised.

11.) 29 Sep 2020 22:05:44
Even if just 4 mill that is 4 mill less we have to spend on someone else. I can see why they might have tried the loan for cover but can’t see why we would buy.

12.) 30 Sep 2020 13:35:41
Then agents fee signing on fee.

13.) 01 Oct 2020 20:58:12
who had heard of SOUCEK before we signed him and for what we paid for him he's the best buy for the money in this window. COYI.

So November is the month to make hay.
A point against Liverpool would be great,
Aston Villa.
Got to stuff the first two and compete hard for a win against Villa.
>8pts needed from these four games I reckon.
Just hope the mental fortitude is there and we don’t draw against City and a Liverpool then lose to Fulham.
Feels different this season, with Antonio up front there’s confidence.

Any injury news on him Eds?

{Ed001's Note - they think he was just cramping but they are being cautious with him as he has a history of thigh problems. At the moment he is said to be 50/50 for your next game.}

1.) 25 Oct 2020 15:07:35
Appreciate the update and context.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

18 Oct 2020 18:32:41
Glad I turned it back on for the last 10 minutes.

1.) 18 Oct 2020 19:27:38
WTF 🤣😂👎⚒⚒I turned it off at 3-0 although we were playing OK but defensively appaling! My Daughter phoned up with a few minutes to go to tell me to turn it back on! I knew we must have been turning it on, at 3-2 I thought to late, until the stunner from Lanzini, fantastic, feels like a win👍👍⚒⚒⚒⚒.

2.) 18 Oct 2020 20:34:20
Omg, never have I wanted any player to score so much for a while now and my oh my what a goal it was, u little argentine diamond where have you been hiding my friend, glad to have you back you little dancer. ⚒⚒⚒.

16 Oct 2020 17:27:15
King not moving according to SSF
Benhrama status unknown.

12 Oct 2020 19:34:34
Given that’s a loan deal it may be we have him free free. Watford pay his wages as the compensation.

08 Oct 2020 06:56:54
Season ticket holders getting emails about option of month-by-month refunds OR every closed game refund. If you accept by Oct 12 for refund via Club Cash you get prorate Club cash plus 10% bonus. Suits me as I’m based in NI and travel to 4 or 5 games a year.

1.) 08 Oct 2020 18:08:18
Is that the same as last year Kib, u can use ya club cash toward next seasons ticket? I’m in Whitby North Yorkshire so suits me aswell. I’m itching to get to a game but think al wait for this carry on to calm down first like.

Agreed on benhrama, I would go king in instalments and Rodon for youth, Dawson or cook on the cheap.

Absolutely, with Everton looking to shed Keane, Sigi and Walcott et al I would think Moise Keane and a defender would be better value for £31. Burnley jacked the price because we "need" him.

Too much credit given to board possibly. It feels like they put all the eggs in the Benrahma basket (£30M) and dallied with AFC over King. I believe there was some medical issue which prevent the buy so switching to a loan was a good pivot but. that suddenly releases fee funding for King too. Diangana went for 18 etc, 5 spent on Benrahma, cash in for Anderson. I reckon that had the 18 AFC we’re looking. Player’s wages obviously a hindering issue. So. net spend wise board have retained cash which maybe like you say good for January (11 weeks without major injury? ) . Maybe King will be cheaper then as he winds down contract.

Yes I think we are in a good January shopping position but signing king and Benrahma would have been a statement of intent now. Perhaps Kings admission of mental health etc may have swayed avoidance — he may be more use in January after some AFC game time.

So not a master stroke but perhaps a by-product benefit?
