Antonio had surgery on a fractured leg this morning.
30 Aug 2024 11:08:27
Encouraging Soler noises this morning from the media, but, hey, ho, ya never know.
1.) 30 Aug 2024 11:59:29
No striker movement is worrying
2.) 30 Aug 2024 12:43:17
I couldn’t agree more. Both our back-up options for Füllkrug aren’t up to the job - Ings and Antonio. It’s looking like nobody wants to take them on. Ings for his wages and Antonio because he’s finished.
3.) 30 Aug 2024 13:22:16
BIG POST! APOLOGIES Absolutely agreed on both counts, Ings no more to be said, and we couldn’t let Antonio go, because, we have no one else, at the end, we just have run out of liquid funds to facilitate. Moves, , , Steidten has done a monumental job if we get these two in today Soler and perhaps Carney, this window is a 9:9 it’s historical, WH is a big boat to turn around, but in one window, it’s half way round! Let’s be honest among us all on this site, In my opinion, if Moyes had stayed on we would be down the bottom, and stayed there, I don’t expect us to challenge this season, and NOT being in Europe, less games, less travelling time, will benefit, only one game a week, more or less , more training time, more blending time, IF we do ok this season, the next two windows, will see out 5 players at end of contracts and the addition of strikers THEN watch out for WEST HAM
4.) 30 Aug 2024 19:33:20
We are desperately light up front should (touch wood) something happen to FULLKRUG as we all know ANTONIO always picks up an injury which keeps him out for a good few weeks and I know what we are trying on and its BOWEN playing up front which for me he isn't a striker and we lose him out wide which is his best position imo so while it's a good window we have missed a chance to fill the void as you need at least 2 good strikers that can stay fit.COYI
27 Aug 2024 09:45:10
The point is that this section is for rumours. I’m sure Steidten and Lopetegui would love more squad movement before the end of this window and that efforts are being made to make it so, but even they don’t know for sure what the next few days holds and they’re as ITK as it gets!
I enjoy both agreeing and disagreeing with opinions and thoughts on here, because it makes me thinks about the club from different perspectives. We can all make our own minds up about the range of views expressed here.
Just sayin’.
1.) 27 Aug 2024 17:30:34
Forgive the typos.
08 Aug 2024 22:26:06
Steidten on his way to Nice to work on Todibo.
1.) 09 Aug 2024 08:52:31
Apparently he is currently in a plane back to UK to undergo medical
2.) 09 Aug 2024 09:03:40
Imagine if we can get a Rb, possible LB cover too.
I did not expect us to have a transfer window like this.
I wonder how it would've been if moyes was here. Probably spent all summer after maguire.
Just a rb and LB cover would be the best window ever.
Well the best window ever would be fofana too but I doubt that.
Also hearing Duran is still a go. Year long loan with ob to buy. Surely this wouldn't happen.
3.) 09 Aug 2024 09:06:08
The problem is where have we suddenly got all these funds from?
Does this mean we will look to sell one of out stars to balance the books ie Kudos or Bowen?
4.) 09 Aug 2024 09:17:01
Todibo, Great news, source got money right, but terms wrong, to put all but 5 m on next seasons transfer bill, is great business, clever spread of funds
5.) 09 Aug 2024 09:31:05
5 year deal till 29
05 Aug 2024 09:28:36
Both Füllkrug and Guido have passed their medicals.
Announcements expected today.
1.) 05 Aug 2024 10:31:43
Both very shrewd signings.
Not sure how much of a transfer budget we will have left after Fullkrug signing, but with Guido joining on a free in midfield, he is a very good addition. Certainly suits the style of play Lopetegui is aiming for.
I would still love to see us sign another centre back to start alongside Kilman, let's face it Jean-Clair Todibo looks unlikely but the loan with obligation to buy next summer would be an amazing deal. Failing that, Oumar Solet looks a beast if the funds are there.
Bring in Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a fee from Manchester United alongside a centre back and our defence should be sorted.
I have seen reports linking us with recently released Sergi Roberto, formerly of Barcelona. Yeah, ok he is 32 years old, but again, on a two year deal he is by far a better fit for Lopetegui's style of play than Soucek and Ward-Prowse. I think he too would be a good addition.
I don't see much business beyond the above, unless a deal too good to refuse comes up. a cheeky loan with obligation for Jhon Duran would be nice if we can pull it off.
A starting XI against Villa first game of the season with the above looks solid to be fair.
GK - Alphonse Areola
RB- Aaron Wan-Bissaka
CB - Jean-Clair Todibo / Oumar Solet
CB - Max Kilman
LB - Emerson Palmieri
DM - Guido Rodriguez
CM - Mohammed Kudus
CM - Lucas Paqueta
RW - Jarrod Bowen
F - Niclas Fullkrug
LW - Crysencio Summerville
2.) 05 Aug 2024 12:14:43
i think strengthening the right back position would be our most important bit of business, Coufal has been great but his form nose dived and he was terrible in the euros solidifying our need to replace him. If we got AWB it would be our best bit of business IMO.
3.) 05 Aug 2024 13:30:18
The AWB thing is turning in to a bit of a saga now, I think we should walk away and go all out for Joe Gomez. He can play anywhere across the back and to be fair is as good at full back as he is at CB.
I've always thought he's been in the shadow of other players at Liverpool and perhaps isn't as highly thought of by some as he should be.
He's one of these players that seems to have been around forever but he's still only 27. He had some injury troubles in the past but hopefully they seem to be behind him now. Still got 2 years on his contract so he won't be cheap, but if it's a case of flinging £18m at AWB or £22m at Gomez, I know which I I think makes more sense.
4.) 06 Aug 2024 22:59:59
AVB receives less injuries than Gomez and is considerably quicker. He would also allow Bowen to push forward as he is very much a defensive players.
GK - Alphonse Areola
RB- Aaron Wan-Bissaka
CB - Aguerd
CB - Max Kilman
LB - Emerson Palmieri
DM - Guido Rodriguez
CM - Mohammed Kudus
CM - Lucas Paqueta
RW - Jarrod Bowen
F - Niclas Fullkrug
LW - Crysencio Summerville

You’ve got to wonder why any manager would want to come to us, when they see how we treat managers.
07 Jan 2025 22:49:27
Dump Loppy, put Nobes in charge for the rest of the season. Give the club more time to look at alternatives in the summer, unless Nobes aces it.
07 Jan 2025 10:31:09
It’s interesting to read the comments on the ongoing shambles. I do find it strange, though that so many are now saying we had a disastrous summer window, when at the time bucketloads of punters were saying we had the one of the best.
Fans are fickle and memories are short.
It’ll be fun to watch the next few days.
1.) 07 Jan 2025 13:49:29
You definitely have a good point there. Also many of the names touted as being great and we should have been in there and there was disgust that we didn’t sign them. Most of whom like Jota Silva, the Irish defender that went to Everton and he can’t get into a struggling Everton team, have done nothing.
Although I think it wasn’t the players we signed it was what attributes they had. I think many of us assumed the players purchased would have pace. Hardly any do, and the one that has genuine speed is deemed not good enough. But you are right we are fickle and have bad memories
04 Jan 2025 17:08:11
Shipping 9 goals in 2 games and it could have been quite a few more. I think our defence, midfield and attack need thinking about.
1.) 05 Jan 2025 13:51:55
But not the goalkeeper?
29 Dec 2024 20:49:17
I didn’t expect a result today. Liverpool are currently flying and putting everyone to the sword.
I don’t blame our attack, either. On the rare occasions they got hold of it, they created some decent chances.
Our midfield was not competitive enough: lack of pace and standing off is a recipe for being carved open and that’s what happened.
On another day, e might have scored three, but they might have scored ten.
1.) 29 Dec 2024 21:47:46
It looked to easy for Liverpool to break into our penalty area.
18 Jan 2025 20:54:54
Jonathan David.
07 Jan 2025 19:14:38
If Sullivan can’t sort something external, ask Nobes to do it for the rest of this season.
10 Dec 2024 14:35:33
So that’s 3 games we’ve won very luckily: Palace, Man U and Wolves. That’s 50% of our points. That stat alone should have Lopetegui on his way. We won’t fluke it for the rest of the season if he stays in charge.
08 Dec 2024 17:13:31
We have been screaming for a pacy young forward for a very long time. There isn’t another club in the premier league, which has had such a terrible recruitment record for CFs.
January will be a very interesting window.
08 Dec 2024 17:09:13
Agree with that.
I spent 35 years as an English teacher. If you don’t mind me doing what I used to:
It’s parameters, not perimeters. It’s either regardless, or irrespective, not irregardless (which isn’t a word) .
I’m not trying to be the grammar police, just trying to help.
20 Jan 2025 19:01:45
Also let’s all other clubs know that at least £57m is available this window. They’ll price their players accordingly.
30 Dec 2024 08:23:20
Interesting article, Nic.
I think pace in midfield is a problem, as you point out, but it’s not more than that. We give the opposition too much space to receive the ball in midfield from their back line. When opposing midfielders are fed the ball and allowed to turn without being challenged, we are inviting goal scoring opportunities.
Loppy needs to drill the players on when to be where they need to be to stop that.
Once the opposition has the ball at the back, our midfielder should be shadowing theirs, especially their creative midfielders. Time on the ball makes all the difference and we are giving other sides too much of it in midfield.
24 Dec 2024 20:16:30
Seasons greetings and best wishes to all.
22 Dec 2024 22:08:26
Agreed Tin.
This run of results takes the pressure off Sullivan to move on. Whilst we have been more competitive, we have not been the better side.
22 Dec 2024 22:06:19
All Steidten can do is research and recommend. If Sullivan truly let's him off the leash, we would be a far, far better side. Blaming Steidten makes zero sense. How many players has he put forward that Sullivan has turned down? Does anybody really believe that Fullkrug was top of Steidten’s list? Don’t be silly.
