I've just seen that west ham would want £80m for Rice, why put a figure on him, if he's not for sale then don't put a figure on him £80m is no where near enough, we couldn't replace him.

1.) 04 Oct 2019 11:51:54
Apparently it’s what the industry does. So far the biggest speculation has been about Man U and I’m pretty sure that MP has already persuaded Rice that they are a once great team in serious decline and that he has better European prospects with us.

11 Jul 2019 05:27:36
I've read we could be after a loan move for Higuain?

1.) 11 Jul 2019 09:14:43
Massive wages yes
Career in decline yes
Pony all last season yes

Welcome to west ham son.

2.) 11 Jul 2019 09:17:46
I would be very surprised, however he does hold the ball up well, which suits MP style of play.
I like the Haller rumours though. I know Eds have said we have little chance, but MPH are good at what they do (e. g. none mentioned Fornals), so never say never. Gomez clearly wanted CL football, and preferably in Spain, and he got both at Valencia, not money motivated so unfortunately no chance. Haller on the other had has spoken about his desire to come to the Prem already, back in December, ironically linked with Newcastle. The key thing though, he would want to be first choice, and what top 6 prem club plays with a striker like him? He would be second choice at all the top 6, and won't fit any of their styles of play.
WHU are his best option in the prem therefore IMO, as we have a manager who builds a team around a player just like him, and MP is a manager most players would love to work with. He would be the hottest show in town at WHU, whereas at Man Utd he replaces Lukaku (if he goes) as backup to Rashford, and i don't believe Man Utd are building a style of team that plays to Haller's strengths, or if he is even their 1st choice replacement.
Money and trophies talk though, so he may be swayed to play no.2 at one of the top 6, which is (I think) why EDs say we have little chance. Would be a HUGE coup for us were it to happen.

3.) 11 Jul 2019 10:02:42
Well stated! I agree with all of that. As long as any Haller saga doesn’t go to the Gomez lengths.

4.) 11 Jul 2019 10:04:39
I really don’t want Higuain. He’s past it and couldn’t cope with the pace of the PL.

5.) 11 Jul 2019 10:30:13
100% Markro, i hate these drawn out sagas, Anderson was bad enough last summer, at least it ended well for us.
Furthermore on Higuain, Sarri is now manager there, who loved him at Napoli so much so that he brought him to Chelsea. Unless he cannot work both him and Ronaldo into his style, and doesn't want a reliable striker he knows like Higuain as backup, I think it is VERY unlikely.

If rumours are surfacing of WHU speaking to Juve about a player, then it is more likely to be speculation around Moise Kean, who (surprise surprise) Everton are reported to have bid for. We always get linked to the same players as them. Maybe we are interested, possibly as a loan opposed to Everton's purchase, or we are just bluffing/ interfering to make it harder for Everton.
Any other Juve players we could be linked with?

6.) 11 Jul 2019 10:29:00
Higuain at 31 valued at £36m!?
Don’t touch him with a barge pole. This happens every window, we lose out on our prime target and panic buy.

7.) 11 Jul 2019 11:10:47
Still a month to go, no worries.

8.) 11 Jul 2019 11:43:19
Haller is not going to happen.

9.) 11 Jul 2019 17:23:49
What about Diego Costa, I would have him all day long at the right price, Premiership experience, absolute nightmare for defenders, scores goals, fancies a return to the Premiership apparently, yes please, the fans would love him👍⚒⚒⚒.

10.) 11 Jul 2019 19:58:28
All. this time wasted AGAIN in another window chasing a striker who was never going to join. Smacks of lacazette and bacca all over again. Waste, waste and more waste.

{Ed002's Note - It happens all of the time to all clubs - there is an attempt made to sign a player - and it is unsuccessful. It is no big deal.}

11.) 11 Jul 2019 20:53:50
no big deal but just feels abit disappointing. i said at early in the window i think we are going to fall short here. still got time and would love haller/ werner/ kean etc but can't see anyone like that heading to us. we can't just have chica as we don't play to his needs can't hold to ball up and just gave up a bit to easily. i don't know where we go from here. i'd like to know eds opinion if they were in this situation who they would have their eyes on upfront and who would be affordable and who would be a viable option? cheers.

12.) 11 Jul 2019 22:26:21
Typical west ham buisness tell the world and his wife all our buisness bad buisness skills theyaint selling dolls let's put the word out get some buisness del boy sick to death of drumming up false targets just to say well we did try not for me just load of bollocks we will top up with a washed up decent player 5year ago only coming to pick up decent money and f--k west ham I will hold my hands up ifwe get HALLER my hands will be well and truly by my side. COYI.

13.) 11 Jul 2019 22:42:01
Diego Costa would want too much, but he’d be perfect.

14.) 12 Jul 2019 00:19:01
What surprises me with Gomez is that they have been after him since January and yet if reports are to be believed are shocked he didn’t want to join. I know we can’t tap up players but there are other ways of sounding a player out and knowing where you sit.

15.) 12 Jul 2019 10:28:55
Higuian and Costa would be typical West Ham signings!

I thought those days were behind us, going for the over 30 best days behind them players who´ll no doubt be on huge wages!

Younger hungry players showing some form to progress the club, plus sell on value that can be reinvested further into the club!

if we keep doing what we´ve always done will we just stagnate!

16.) 12 Jul 2019 13:41:10
Ed002 - “It is no big deal. ” Haha, loving the double entendre.

04 Jul 2019 16:24:36
Just read that Arnie is on the verge of leaving for £36m, that will do for me.

1.) 04 Jul 2019 16:51:52
Would love it to be true, but sadly, I suspect, it’s more media nonsense.

2.) 04 Jul 2019 17:49:47
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞👋👋👋👋👏👏👏👏👏please, please be true🤣😂🤣😂⚒⚒⚒⚒.

3.) 04 Jul 2019 18:32:12
I’ve got everything crossed chelms, him and his brother should just do one they are both as bad as each other. I’d sell him for 6m the twit. Anyone heard anything from iron mike at all?

4.) 04 Jul 2019 18:45:52
Getting a bit short on strikers and the new season is just over a month away. Best we stop. messing about and pull our fingers out.

5.) 04 Jul 2019 18:54:05
I think the rumours are very stron and true but not €36million.

6.) 04 Jul 2019 21:31:55
My undertaking is that it’s 25m euros. Which will cover what we paid for him and the sell on fee.
I’ll be glad to see the back of the sulky bitch and his brothers who’s a nobody without Arnie.

I still question West Ham’s common sense having a release fee of £40 that expired on 14 June.

Bye bye Arnie. I wish you the worst of luck and hope you get what you deserve in China. obscurity and money which is all you seem to play football for.

I really have no reservations about letting him go. He’s worse then Payet was.

7.) 04 Jul 2019 23:10:44
Wished we had taken the money in January. don't believe in keeping anyone against their will as destroys team unity etc. Good riddance. Maxi Gomez and Rondon with (cant believe I am saying this) Hugill as back up and will be happy.

8.) 04 Jul 2019 23:22:22
COYI64 Worse than payet and not half the player either.

9.) 05 Jul 2019 06:20:00
get rid of him he's more trouble than he's worth WH has treated him very well its know time to pull the pin. I hope he likes rice because in my eyes that's all he's worth and as for his rotton brother i hope his rice is full of weavels.

10.) 05 Jul 2019 18:46:58
Cant wait for him to go now. Maybe Ed's can shed some light on this but does a player miss out on a percentage if he hands in a transfer request?

{Ed002's Note - 5% of the full transfer fee. So something like €1.25M - but I have no doubt his brother (who is the real culprit here) would look to have Shanghai SIPG pay a signing on fee. Also the rules on non Chinese players are tough - a maximum of six can be signed in a season; a max of four at any one time and a maximum of three on the pitch at any one time. So they need to make space as they are maxed out so one needs to leave.}

11.) 05 Jul 2019 23:33:13
I can see it taking some time. As Ed has said the rules around foreign players means they have to clear space if it is SIPG so won’t happen in the next few days. If that’s the case they need to have him moved away from the rest of the squad and train back in London. Having watched the Chinese teams over the last few years I can’t wait to hear his whining when he finds out what he is signing up to playing with.

12.) 06 Jul 2019 00:15:09
I read something about the Chinese government having a 100% tax on player transfers too not sure how true that is.

So if he hands in the transfer request does that mean he misses out on 5%. I couldn't see him making an official request as was reported if that means he misses out but as you say no doubt there will be a silly signing on fee for him and hefty agent fee for himself. I couldn't believe the statement he came out with I don't think he believes it himself, purely just saying these ridiculous things to drive a wedge between the club and arnautovic. don't want to see his type at west ham anymore but the way things appear in football with all these greedy agents I don't see it happening.

13.) 06 Jul 2019 09:55:33
Gomez situation is exactly the same as the carlos bacca one we made the best offer gomez wants his cake and eat it . Move on irons don't waste time we need 2 strikers big time.

14.) 06 Jul 2019 10:32:53
I'm hoping we have learnt our lesson bonzo. Fornals transfer Came largely out of nowhere and was done very quickly after it seemed we missed other targets, I have a feeling the same will happen again if we miss out on Gomez the second nd 3rd choice are done quickly no messing about I'm confident we are ready to pull the trigger on those where it seemed with bacca there was no one else lined up and we chased him right up to the end of the window.

Trust in Pellegrini and husillos.

15.) 06 Jul 2019 11:57:35
Looking more like Arnie going for less than 25m and less likely Gomez is going to come in - probably all change tomorrow but hopefully Plan B and C will be ready to go.

16.) 06 Jul 2019 13:57:45
It’s a balancing act at the moment. IF the Austrian goes to China, money is added to our warchest to either complete the Gomez transfer, or move quickly elsewhere. I am sure MP/ H won’t panic into a buy just because time is moving on. As has already been said, we may end up with a strike force none of us had an inkling about.

Trust in the management.

03 Jul 2019 11:47:22
Sky just reported that Maxi Gomez wants to join West Ham?

1.) 03 Jul 2019 12:26:24
So do I :)
The reporters will say anything to get another story, another twist etc. fact is he never has said he wants to play Champions League, he never has said he wants to stay in Spain, he never said anything about Spurs, it’s all just made up second and third hand gossip. Will believe he wants to sign with someone when he puts pen to paper.

2.) 03 Jul 2019 21:07:16
Sky news have a vested interest in incorrect transfer rumours, given that SkyBet is the pre-eminent transfer betting market.

Big pinch of salt with anything they put forward as a result of "Sky Sources"!

25 Jun 2019 11:05:36
Just seen a report saying we've offered, Hugill, Byram and £10m for Rondon.

1.) 25 Jun 2019 12:18:23
- and it’s been turned down. 😩.

IF West Ham do get rid of the manager what's the betting they do it at the same time Arsenal get rid of Emery, therefore the managers that are available or the managers that will be spoken about (i e Howe) will want to speak to Arsenal instead of West Ham, I don't like to see managers lose their jobs but this is all down to Pellegrini with some bad selections and tactics so maybe a change will be best?

1.) 11 Nov 2019 13:11:02
Tough times for MP at the moment, but I still think it is too early to make a change now. Hindsight may prove me wrong in 3 to 9 months time, but that is irrelevant as we do not have it NOW. The last 5 games have highlighted there is a consistent issue, and as a club the owners need to highlight the issue, say it needs to be fixed, and allow the manager time to fix it.
MP does not have the players to play his style, and we have a clear weakness that other teams are exposing. This has been made worse by our backup keeper making THREE unforgivable errors on the weekend.
We all love MP's attacking ethos, but its useless if it leaves us totally exposed all the time. MP needs to adapt his tactics slightly using the players he has available in order to give us a balance. I hate to say it but a Noble injury may be the catalyst that forces his hand to change the makeup of our midfield.

2.) 11 Nov 2019 20:35:23
The thing that worries me most NLCKINHO is he hasn't got a plan b, sticking with what he knows which ain't working and just hoping to get a result and not changing personnel unless injured that's why IMO he needs replacing our under 23s are top of the league and 2 players in the top three goalscorers in the league in SCULLY and HOLLAND both midfielders although SCULLY has moved further forward so at least put them in the matchday squad. COYI.

3.) 14 Nov 2019 14:25:11
A lack of a plan B is worrying indeed. I understand the need to keep trying to perfect his Plan A (albeit to the frustration of fans when we have hindsight after games), but there comes a time when MP should realise that he has not got (or is not playing) the right players that will balance his tactics effectively. For me, that was after the Everton game, and against Newcastle and Burnley we should have made alterations to cover weaknesses.
He needs to realise he cannot yet play his "pure" football, and until he can he must balance our CM so that it can protect our defence effectively. The knock-on effect could be that our creative players have more confidence to get up and support Haller, killing two birds with one stone effectively.

09 Nov 2019 16:39:48
Total crap,
Sheff utd
Two points from these games and not forgetting the 4-0 thumping against mighty Oxford, absolute joke!

1.) 09 Nov 2019 17:14:47
Got a funny feeling REID will become very useful for steadying the ship at the back he played for the under 23s in the week and has been called up to the NZ squad so that's more game time and I'd drop DIOP and play REID alongside BALBUENA or OGBONNA. COYI.

09 Nov 2019 08:58:56
Will Pellegrini change it and go two up front?

1.) 09 Nov 2019 16:04:47
The thing is stevie MP gets paid a lot of money to make decisions and to change things if plan A isn't working which it clearly isn't but he just sticks with his way hopefully getting a result that's why we should move heaven and earth to get EDDIE HOWE in . COYI.

2.) 09 Nov 2019 16:42:19
Great shout but would Eddie Howe leave Bournemouth for a struggling west ham.

3.) 09 Nov 2019 16:43:05
We need a good goalie.

4.) 09 Nov 2019 17:09:24
Money talks mac if we can pay MP €8mill a year then HOWE would jump at those sort of figures IMO. COYI.

5.) 09 Nov 2019 17:09:55
Mac3, if you offered Howe Pellegrinis wages and a healthy transfer budget I think he would struggle to turn it down.

06 Nov 2019 14:50:10
Hi guys, just wanted to get your thoughts on the goalkeeper position, Roberto worries me a bit, would it be worth maybe going for someone like Butland, I know Stoke are at the bottom of the league at present but that's not just down to him, you're only as good as the defense in front of you, he might be looking to move if Stokes results don't pick up, it would be good competition for Fabianski, just thought it was worth putting out there.

1.) 09 Nov 2019 01:29:49
I'm better than ROBERTO and I'm a 50 year old man riddled with athritis that's how highly I rate him 2 bob clown look at his positioning for Newcastle's 2nd goal I think I'm trying to totally erase it from my mind it was embarrassing I'm always very weary of getting players who are free agents especially foreign keepers because you know why they are free because they are useless to man and boy but we seem to get 1 a year at least. COYI.

05 Nov 2019 17:18:28
Just read an article on KUMB, asking the question, "has Sullivan taken West Ham as far as he can", have a read and see what you think?

1.) 06 Nov 2019 04:05:38
Don’t disagree that without considerable investment each season it gets hard to compete in the EPL. Without massive investment you will find it hard to get CL football. The issue is unless someone wants to buy the club who has the massive financial backing to push forward another owner will just be the same. Remember it is not just us that sees themselves as pushing for that top 6 then top 4 it’s Leicester who are better placed, Wolves, Everton, Crystal Palace etc.

Might not be a replacement for Rice as I can see Sanchez and Obiang leaving and with Noble not get any younger we could be looking to bring in a couple of midfielders at least, Lobotka and Jordan in, Sanchez and Obiang out, maybe?

{Ed002's Note - He plays in the same position as Rice.}

It’s on sky that West Ham have completed the sale of Arnie, hope this means that the Gomez deal is close.
