Hi chaps, apparently we're preparing to bid £16m for King, why would we pay that much for a 29 year old who will be out of contract in the summer?

Stevie66

1.) 22 Jan 2021 18:40:55
16m seems abit much based on age and OOC. Also reports of him wanting 120k a week! With his injury record it all seems abit to pricey but as Ed has mentioned below with him we would at least know what level he can perform at in the Premier league.

2.) 22 Jan 2021 19:56:05
£120 per week, tell him to F. O, as we all know in the Jan window, piss take!
As I said previously sends a rebellious message to other players! Take a lead from Spurs with their wage structure! ⚒⚒⚒⚒.

3.) 22 Jan 2021 21:37:53
Agree chelms! I hope we are not silly enough to pay it he's going to be available on a free transfers in 6 months.

Boulaye dia for me seems like the only one that's reasonably priced. Strong, quick, hardworking and in great goal scoring form. Makes sense but I wonder if we are trying other targets before going back in for him by that point i reckon another team will be in for him at around 10-15m it could represent a steal he looks made for the prem.

4.) 23 Jan 2021 02:44:14
Not sure why would spend that much on him, if we can’t do better save the money till end of the year.

5.) 23 Jan 2021 13:07:32
His injury prone wouldn’t entertain.

6.) 23 Jan 2021 15:03:59
King has been getting tips off JW at B’mouth to pass onto his agent to get the best deal. ⚒⚒⚒.

7.) 25 Jan 2021 11:57:58
I do like Josh, but no way is he worth what is quoted:
- Age (29)
- Contract expires in summer
- Wage demands 120k is ludicrous. I can imagine him getting near that when he is free, but paying 10m-16m AND 120k a week is not a good financial deal for anyone.
- performance stats. Unfortunately for him, he has moved positions a lot and never solitified himself as a lone striker. I believe he could do it well but there is risk involved with no guarantee, which means a dropped price.
For me, i'd pay £7m-£10m but a salary of 60k-70k MAX with some goal/ appearance bonuses, as he is on 45kish now. Sounds like we are nowhere near this.
Josh King will be the one losing out here, he could do well for us and i think he would be a good fit for the right price.
Regardless who we get, i just hope it is the right type of player AND they are someone Moyes wants. Getting no striker would be a mistake, but it would be a bigger mistake to get a player who is wrong for us and the PL.

Have we just submitted an offer for Milik?

Stevie66

{Ed002's Note - Arkadiusz Milik (S) will be available in January as he is out of contract in the summer. Atletico and Milan see him as a cheap option but Atletico have since decided on a different longer-term option because they have a concern that the goals dried up last season and he is very much out of favour this season. Milan have several players on their list. Juventus may offer him a deal for the summer - which is why Napoli are keen to move him on and replace him now. Everton (who offer a wildcard option due to the links with CA) and Marseille have made it clear to his agent that they are not going to pay the €15M asking price for a player who will be a Free Agent in the summer. He has a very exciteable agent who has approached at least Spurs and Chelsea about the player with neither being interested - so he may well have approached West Ham. It would be a very high risk purchase if West Ham were keen.}

1.) 11 Jan 2021 17:22:31
Thanks Ed 👍.

2.) 12 Jan 2021 09:09:23
are milan looking at aderson to ed?

{Ed002's Note - Yes they are keen.}

3.) 12 Jan 2021 11:12:21
cheers ed.

09 Jan 2021 14:46:56
I've read one report saying that we have been in preliminary talks to sign Josh king?

Stevie66

1.) 09 Jan 2021 16:11:25
I hope not. He’s not a long time solution to our problem. He’s not ripping up trees in the championship at the moment either. His injury history also worries me.
He’s really a winger and although Moyes has converted both Arnautovic and Antonio into strikers doesn’t mean he’ll be 3rd time lucky.
Josh King would be a great third choice striker for us but isn’t the answer to our current requirements.

2.) 09 Jan 2021 16:40:10
Not for me either. Haller’s departure is an opportunity to push forward with a striker who is going to be a major upgrade. That’s not King.

3.) 09 Jan 2021 23:39:29
Boulaye dia.

4.) 10 Jan 2021 01:27:43
But in the January transfer window normally difficult to get deals over the line and teams tend to bump the price up given our current league position and the next 2/ 3 games could see us on 30 plus points and not even the end of Jan like iron al said don’t rest on our laurels so if DM decided to bring in a free transfer or loan and promoted one of the youngsters to the 1st team like you said markro about the poor quality of striker we have bought in the past so if dm want to wait till the summer to get the right it’s good we me.

5.) 10 Jan 2021 09:56:06
I think king would be a decent addition got great pace which we need and can also play out wide, won't break the bank either.

6.) 10 Jan 2021 13:37:00
I can't shake the feeling that after Moyes false #9 comments we're not going to sign a striker this window. Madness. We're not Man City. Just because they can do it does not mean we should. To compare us to them is laughable and asking for a lot of trouble.

7.) 10 Jan 2021 14:10:25
Moving first Arnautovic, then Antonio, to central striker, worked because of their speed, power and work rate.

We do not have anyone of that ilk in the rest of the squad.

8.) 10 Jan 2021 14:36:16
Take Antonio and masuaku out the team and we have no raw pace. That needs to be addressed.

Agree Billy its alarming Moyes is trying to play it down we need a striker its simple as that. The wealth of attacking talent at mancity is ridiculous they are one of the most successful passing teams on the planet under pep, where we regularly concede possession and let the other team have the ball, Moyes needs to calm down with any comparisons there.

Just buy boulaye dia, sima or king and get let's enjoy the rest of the season. The door is definitely open on dia and King. Personally think we could get both and that would give us all types of options.

08 Jan 2021 18:24:18
Chaps, another name just come into the mix is Arsenal forward Eddie Nkeitah? Could he be too lightweight and get knocked off the ball too easily, haven't really taken a lot of notice of him so don't know that much about him?

Stevie66

1.) 08 Jan 2021 22:58:59
Trim CFs are rare and always targeted by hefty centre halves.

Having said that, judge a striker by his goal involvement.

2.) 09 Jan 2021 16:15:55
Hi Lads. Eddie Nkethia is 5 foot 11 tall. So only an inch short of 6 foot so he’s no weakling.
He is blessed with speed which is ideal for the system we play. Him and Antonio bombing forward at speed would be a joy to watch and a fearsome sight to any defence.
Nketiah is also a great finisher and will get better and better.
Personally I see him being a stalwart in the England squad within 3 years.

3.) 09 Jan 2021 17:25:37
COYI, tend to Agee with your assessment of Nkethia, speed is a great asset for any clubs to have, in fact essential in my view in all teams! It seen a lot of him so will remain on the fence about him! Josh King 9 years older, injury problems, why do we want another with known injury history. Yes The Arsenal lad has a broken but I don’t think that will affect him long term? Other alternative is try from the youngsters? Not to many want to part in the Premiership January window unless it’s from the big squad Premiership teams, so choices very limited? Other choice have a look at Soucek’s suggestions, really impressed with a lot of the Eastern Euros, toughies and grafters👍👍⚒⚒⚒.

06 Jan 2021 16:11:17
It looks like Snodgrass is off to West Brom?

Stevie66

1.) 06 Jan 2021 17:25:22
Wish him well if he is? I like Snoddy, seems a good professional and grafter, not getting much game time now with us, so good luck Snods👍.

2.) 06 Jan 2021 17:49:50
Been an up and down career with us don't forget he had a year out on loan Villa was it but last year thought he was one of our better players age doesn't fit the Moyes profile either.

3.) 06 Jan 2021 19:14:02
Totally agree chelms, big fan of snoddy all the way back at Leeds, top player top professional and a great guy to have around the changing room, brings the laughter to the party aswell by all accounts. Good luck to the guy if he goes, wish the lad all the best. Always a⚒.

4.) 07 Jan 2021 10:10:49
i agree about snoddy hasn't had much game time lately time to move on. I wish him good luck and sorry to see him go, not sorry to see Hallar go he just hasn't lived up to his price tag has no pace hope Ajax works out for him, if he goes let's hope a large chunk of the money goes to DM to get a decent centre forward to replace him.

5.) 07 Jan 2021 22:39:50
It can't be blamed on moyes for hallers form but he shouldn't have been targeted if he wasnt going to be used to suit him you don't pay €45 million for a player and not playto his strength i do think dm should have tried 2 up front for a run of games that's why managers get paud gokd money to change systems and tactics to suit your best players it has worked with cresswell on the left of 3 C/ Bs so why not accomidate 2 up front.

Should've been out of site in the first half, although he still didn't score I thought Benrahma had a good game.

Stevie66

1.) 26 Jan 2021 21:04:13
Getting better but I do wish he would learn to play the easy pass sometimes and not try so hard.

2.) 27 Jan 2021 08:56:56
Wow we are playing so well, listened to the game live and saw MOTD highlights! Impressed with everybody in the team⚒The commentary duo were purring over how we were playing and controlling the game👍DM and his assistants doing a great job behind the scenes, if we can keep most injury free which is almost impossible in the hectic PL we are going to we one happy bunch of Hammer fans⚒
I try not to criticise individuals unless they are non triers, but he has installed a real work ethic into the side which must bring results and it is now👍
What a difference our most recent loanees and signings have made, plus hopefully Rice will now stay! Let’s hope we can poke it up the Scousers next, what a result that would be🤞👍⚒⚒⚒COYI.

3.) 27 Jan 2021 15:48:51
As good a time as any, Chelms. Their defence is very wobbly with the injuries they’ve got. I think we’ve got a real shot at it.

4.) 27 Jan 2021 20:43:08
Just hope we ain't the side that liverpool are going to spank very soon but there's no doubting we are playing very well both palaces goals were scored from clever one touch tippy tap football which is where we need to tighten up on but overall ogbonna the most improved cb in the league and Dawson who i can remeber playing for wba winning majority of aerial clashes with Andy carroll so keep up the good work.

26 Jan 2021 05:33:27
There's talk of West Ham bringing forward the permanent signing of Benrahma to free up a loan spot in the squad for Lingard, thought they might've signed Dawson instead as he would only be a couple of million and leave Benrahma until the summer? Do you think we could still sign a striker even if we signed Lingard?

Stevie66

1.) 26 Jan 2021 07:32:17
Would be quite ironic that we would sign a player permanently to bring a player in on loan to replace him lol.

25 Jan 2021 19:27:16
Jesse Lingard?

Stevie66

{Ed002's Note - Jesse Lingard (AM) out of contract - Atletico Madrid, Roma, Newcastle, West Ham, Nice, Real Sociedad may offer options. Manchester United may offer to extend to save money on purchases.}

1.) 25 Jan 2021 19:48:36
Ed, Lingards contract runs until 2022, Man Utd took the option to extend.

2.) 25 Jan 2021 21:26:39
I believe Lingard has said he wants to stay in England - not that I really think he will add much, unless we sell Lanzini as the most likely midfielder to go.

3.) 25 Jan 2021 22:42:20
Think Lingard would be a good signing. Sell Lanzini and buy Lingard.

25 Jan 2021 16:20:13
I can't believe how much coverage the lampard sacking is getting, I sat down at 1 o 'clock to watch the transfer show on sky sports and they spent the whole hour talking about Chelsea, if that was West Ham, Southampton or any other team that's not a so called top four team that sacked their manager then they wouldn't get the coverage Chelsea are getting, I mean it's still going across the bottom of the screen since this morning, I mean who would want to manage Chelsea anyway, they think they've got a god's given right to win every game, and when they don't they sack the manager, pathetic!

Stevie66

1.) 25 Jan 2021 17:44:16
Slow news day.

2.) 25 Jan 2021 18:05:43
Stevie, that’s an indicator of how much is going on! We all know in Football shows there are only ManU, ManC, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs that are in the PL!

Pundits really give me the hump with their bloody boring analysis of games we’ve just watched, I now press the “Mute” button unless it concerns WH of course🤣⚒⚒⚒.

20 Jan 2021 18:09:36
Apparently West Ham are saying there was no agreement in place regarding Snodgrass?

Stevie66

1.) 20 Jan 2021 20:44:55
While I don't know the truth, I wouldn't have expected any other answer.

Think there might be an agreement of £1m loan fee for Lingard, which is less than Utd originally wanted.

You can only have two domestic loans at any one time but you can still get loans from abroad.

I thought AC Milan we’re interested?

Stevie66

{Ed002's Note - Milan would be open to taking Anderson for the summer after losing out on Dominik Szoboszlai. If they were to buy him in January they would have to not play, or be loaned to West Ham or Porto for the remainder of the season.}

Haller will probably get a load of goals for Ajax but don’t forget the Dutch league is nowhere near as good or as strong as the premier league, but good luck to him he seems happier there.
