Ed is there any chance of an update on the striker search? We're linked with everyone in Europe at the moment but what's the most realistic outcome?

kaneob18

{Ed002's Note - I think West Ham need two from:
Moussa Marega (S) looking for a move to the PL with interest from Wolves, West Ham and Leicester - interest of Aston Villa has gone after signing Wesley. This would be the one to push for.
Neal Maupay (S) WHU have made an enquiry with Brentford – could be a shrewd buy.
Salomon Rondon (S) Need to push now given the uncertainty at Newcastle.
Borja Iglesias (S) watched by WH playing for Espanyol and seen as an option to Gomez - but Everton are keen
Sebastien Haller (S) Haller has made no secret of his desire for Champions League football and there would be a fear he could soon head out when the opportunity arises.

And the others:
Maxi Gomez (S) Opted for Valencia.
Callum Wilson (S) Opted to stay at Bournemouth.
Duvan Zapata (S) - the player was not keen on a move to West Ham in January and the €50M asking price has already scared off Newcastle and Inter Milan - WHU could return but I doubt he would be viable as there is serious interest from a Champions League club. Seems very unlikely.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (S) was a realistic target and very much the Andy Carroll type player - but there is a lot of competition - and WHU did not take the time to talk with Fulham as other clubs are already doing so - he will head elsewhere or opt to stay at Fulham with a one year get out at a low price in case there is no promotion.
Florian Aye (S) makes little sense.
Edin Dzeko (S) Heading elsewhere.
Max Kruse (S) Was watched by West Ham but heading elsewhere.
Dario Benedetto (S) is a Plan C for Roma and RBL and suggested WHU move makes no sense given his goals have dried up, his injuries over the past couple of years and he will only be able to get a one year Tier 5 work permit initially.
Marion Balotelli (S) Wants a return to Italy but discussions with three clubs ended over wage demands.}

1.) 15 Jul 2019 11:54:54
Any further update on Andrea Belotti?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of WH interest, sorry.}

2.) 15 Jul 2019 12:43:23
Thanks for the updates.

Failing serious interest from elsewhere, if Haller came to us because he thought we might be a useful stepping stone, I’d be more than happy. As a club, we need to get higher quality players in our squad to push on and a standard trigger clause could be placed in any contract to encourage him to come on board.

The way I see it, we are more likely to challenge for Europe with better quality players in the side and, if we do qualify, there is a better chance that these type of players would stay.

{Ed002's Note - You cannot start adding (I assume you mean) termination clauses to contracts - it is fraught with issues, costs money and can backfire easily. I would expect the player might demand a low termination clause from a CL team.}

3.) 15 Jul 2019 13:25:59
Thanks Ed.

In fairness any young player of talent we sign should want to play Champions League. If not question their aspirations!

Don't see that as not a good reason, and we'd get a good return and be doing well if it came about.

Getting Haller + Rondon in would pretty much complete our squad as of now.

{Ed002's Note - They are very similar players.}

4.) 15 Jul 2019 16:18:28
I don't see any issue with that if that style of player is what the manager sees as needing: one first choice and one as backup, with then Hernandez, Antonio and Silva providing flexibility and variation.

A bigger issue is if you sign Haller, build a way of playing, he gets injured, and you need to restyle completely because you only have a totally different player to cover them available to come in.

5.) 15 Jul 2019 18:49:14
Rondo is joining benetez in china. COYI.

07 Jul 2019 21:41:31
Can anyone explain the technicalities of the Gomez deal. Have we met his release clause or is it not that straightforward?

Also, is he likely to sign for us now if we have offered what Celta want?

Never thought I'd see West Ham signing a 45mil striker!

kaneob18

{Ed002's Note - WHU have no agreement with his club at this time. WHU want to pay the fee (equal to his termination clause) over an extended period. Ut will be up to Cekta Vigo to decide if this is acceptable to them or not - whereas I have already explained that Valencia would also need to be creative with the money.}

1.) 07 Jul 2019 22:20:03
Thanks!

03 Jul 2019 21:53:17
What is the latest on Reece Oxford? He is a massive talent and maybe he's a had a bit of a wake up call. If he works hard he could be at the same level as Rice. Is he likely to stay and be given a second chance?

kaneob18

{Ed002's Note - He will leave - ideally he wants Augsburg but there is interest from the Championship as well.}

1.) 03 Jul 2019 22:08:01
Thanks Ed! Shame to see him go but something clearly isn’t right.

2.) 04 Jul 2019 08:11:47
Hi Eds any news as to where we stand with all outgoings and incomings at the moment?

{Ed002's Note - Please read the posts.}

09 Aug 2018 14:32:18
With oxford looking likely to leave, is that going to be a loan or sale?

kaneob18

1.) 09 Aug 2018 14:36:00
WH want to sell him no question about that, they will concentrate on him after today’s window IRONMIKE.

2.) 09 Aug 2018 15:26:53
Any news on a CDM. It seems as though we are being linked with Strikers everywhere Llorente, Moussa and MAXI but what about the strikers we have!

3.) 09 Aug 2018 15:35:35
Sanchez apart no mate I feel that’s it. IRONMIKE.

4.) 09 Aug 2018 16:23:30
Well we can't complain. We've been crying out for an overhaul for god knows how long and now its started so let's just see if we were right or wrong :-) I still read in the last few minutes that we are talking to PORTO over MOUSS MAREGA. Porto want £36m and we bid £26m? Above all the other deals we've done I think Perez at £4m is an absolute steal :-)

5.) 09 Aug 2018 16:37:08
I think for the time being forget a Marega Maxi Gomez et al. If we do reasonably well you can expect more in the way of transformation impossible to do it so quickly. IRONMIKE.

26 Jul 2018 17:08:36
MP has been praising Noble and I thought he was the best player on the pitch last night - yes I know it was a friendly. He is a good player but needs players around him. He's not going to win you a game on his own but much like your Jordan Henderson types, but you know you're going to get that solid 7/ 10 performance each week. Think he will do very well this season.

kaneob18

1.) 26 Jul 2018 17:41:31
Hi kaneob he gets totally found out against premier league standard players unfortunately i know he's mr west ham and you need players like that for the dressing room but wilshire and balbuena can do that imo we would be a better team without noble the difference between villa and premiership is massive mate and i think MP is very cute and understands that was villa who couldn't make it in the playoffs i'm not trying to be clever and disrespect you mate we are hammers fans and what the best for whufc and its all about opinions mate. COYI.

2.) 26 Jul 2018 17:43:01
Lots of chat on twitter that we have upped our bid for 31yo centre back marcelo? Find it hard to believe we are swt on investing such a large amount on a 31yo?

3.) 26 Jul 2018 18:31:05
We all have our thoughts on individual players. Perhaps Noble might be ok with pace around him. I’m not so sure but it’s MP’s call.

4.) 26 Jul 2018 18:47:59
I’m well aware of the difference between the prem and championship haha I’ve got plenty of experience in football. Noble is the type of player who plays well in a good team. He needs players like Wilshere etc around him to create the space. He isn’t on their level but he’s a good solid performer. Let’s all just see how this season goes but wouldn’t be surprised if this is Nobles best season.

5.) 26 Jul 2018 21:17:09
I think you make a good case Kaneob. Noble deserves to stay and be given a shotdue to his immense loyalty and ethic. There are enough matches in a season for him to have an influence. The lad should stay with us until he's ready for dgs to pay for his coaching badges.

6.) 27 Jul 2018 11:47:28
Ive got experiance in football too played at decent level and watch the games in the last 4-5months he was running around like a noddy dog with neithwr the pace or engine to keep that up for ni ety mins the only position you could play him is in a free role where he doesn't need to keep tracking back c/ m is the most demanding position on the pitch and he ain't good enough we cannot afford to carry passengers and too say he will be a better player with better players around him I've never bought into that what that means is in a beeter team you don't get noticed because the others are good imo if he qasnt good enough last season he ain't going to be better a year later at 31 i go football with about 11 season ticket holders and not one of us thinks he's good enough i understand its all about opinions and majority of people say with whufc tinted specs on regarding nobes i appreciate what he's given to us but all i'm interested in is the future and without him we will be a better team 100%. COYI.

7.) 27 Jul 2018 11:57:17
Hiya dabber why does noble have to stay and why does sully have to pay for his coaching badges or is he is dad he earns astronimical wages and surely he can pay for himself anyway youve answered my problem he needs sully to pay for his badges like obiang used to get him out of trouble because he ain't got the legs or pace to play the hardest position on the pitch what's your views MIKE because i'm sick of people in love with MARK ( MR WEST HAM ) NOBLE i get what he's given but that's what they are paid fortunes for to give 100% and nothing more does that guarantee you a place at a football club because when i last looked it doesn't work like that no more dog eats dog world now mike.

8.) 27 Jul 2018 14:50:44
Whoa calm down Whorya . Football is dog eat dog and it is cut throat but it doesn’t mean any of us have to agree with it. Noble has been a great servant to the club and could continue to be a great servant to the club in the future coaching through young talent, why waste the passion and love he evidently has for the club.? Whatever I can’t understand why you need to post angry responses to mine and Kaneob’s posts . we have to rspect peoples oppinions and mine is that Noble shouldn’t be thrown out with the rubbish.

Jose Mourinho looking for a new job, would you replace MP with him?

kaneob18

1.) 02 Nov 2019 14:50:59
Not in a quintillion years.

2.) 02 Nov 2019 15:17:51
Hardly like MP is setting the world alight though.

3.) 02 Nov 2019 17:22:06
Mourinho is a serial winner, Pellegrini is a very nice man. If the fans want trophies then Jose is the man.

4.) 02 Nov 2019 18:15:09
Cant do any worse than we are now.

5.) 02 Nov 2019 22:47:28
MOURINHIO wouldn't be remotely interested in us not a chance.

6.) 04 Nov 2019 17:33:02
I wouldn't say no to Mourinho but if I had a choice it would be the manager Sullivan had targeted before Marcelo Bielsa of Ledds Utd, great tactician. Guardiola rates him as one of the best.

09 Aug 2018 14:25:01
I may have complained earlier but it could be worse, I could be a spurs fan watching and waiting on deadline day for a signing that will never come haha.

kaneob18

1.) 09 Aug 2018 14:36:58
Spurs will sign. Nobody now. IRONMIKE.

29 Jul 2018 20:24:52
If we sign Marega and we don't bring in a DM then surely we would play 442 or 4411 - MPs preferred formation, thoughts?

kaneob18

1.) 30 Jul 2018 12:46:30
Hi Kane,

Concerning a DM, i'm a little unsure the thoughts of MP with this, I did think it would be a certainty this position would be filled, but its getting late in the day and i'm starting to wonder if MP may use young Declan and Noble for this position.

Concerning Obiang its a difficult situation for all, it seemed he was on his way back to Samps which by reports I have read on here is want he wanted, now if that been blocked due to what ever reason and we need him until we / if we can get cover, the question is, will he be able to put his disappointment behind him, by all reports he was woeful on Saturday.

I really would like to know what positions are a must priority to fill before the window shuts, although the defence looks ropy still will MP think that we have enough if we can't get anyone in, its not the end of the world, the same goes for a wide players now Antonio seems to be staying, and again a striker, if we can get this chap from Porto brilliant, if not again will MP think we can get by to maybe the Jan window?

Any thoughts chaps, if we could only bring in 2 more players albeit buys or loans, which 2 positions do we need the most, or even if some feel we can get by in what we have already.

2.) 30 Jul 2018 13:17:33
Until WH are happy with midfield OBIANG won’t be allowed to leave, if we cannot solve it he will stay, too be honest looking back at Saturday if he performs like he did then I would be happy to see him go IF everybody on this site remembers it was myself and PHIL that beat the drum for him to be bought by WH years ago , BUT he always said he wanted to return home to Sampadoria IRONMIKE.

3.) 30 Jul 2018 13:25:59
Cheers Mike

Do we really want someone whose heart is not in it?, yes of course we can not leave ourselves short but if his disappointment is that great, and if he starts and it does not go well on the pitch and the fans get on his back surley it will be a no one situation for everyone.

Have we really got no one else in the squad albeit maybe not as good as Obiang that could not cover if we failed to bring someone in? . Surely a lesser player who is gunning to make an impression levels itself out with a player who is/ can't give it his all.

4.) 30 Jul 2018 20:37:30
I agree Warrington. Would much rather see Rice and others given a chance than obiang who’s heart isn’t in it.

5.) 30 Jul 2018 21:29:33
If memory serves me correctly, Pellegrini only played with one DM when he was at Man City and that was Fernandinho. If we have Noble and Declan Rice, perhaps he will rely on those two until next season and just bring in one DM next season when he can get his first choice (whoever that may be)
Maybe by bringing in Fredericks he may deploy zabaleta as a DM where he won’t be so exposed for pace?

6.) 30 Jul 2018 21:55:34
Hiya MIKE what's your views on NOBLE because if people think he's good enough i for one don't if him and kouyate aren't replaced then for me this might sound harsh then we haven't improved our team enough was it a coincedence that when OBIANG was out we struggled to protect our defenders I've watched noble very closely last season and mike he ain't good enough mate what's your views please mike. COYI.

21 Jul 2018 12:53:40
Who does everyone think will be our breakout young player this season? I think Rice will do well this year and hoping Oxford can develop as they could be a seriously good partnership in years to come. But I think Nathan Holland will be the one who catches the eye this year! Thoughts?

kaneob18

1.) 21 Jul 2018 13:43:37
I think that MP is impressed by what he’s seen of Holland in training. His problem will be forcing his way into a totally upgraded attacking midfield.

Oxford has not progressed as much as was hoped. I can see him going back to Germany.

Marcus Brown is one for the future, too.

2.) 21 Jul 2018 18:26:43
Cullen.

3.) 21 Jul 2018 21:20:39
Really all depends who we decide to move on as it stand s we have antonio/ snodgrass/ holland/ masuku/ andeson/ yarmelenko on the wings midfield noble / koyate/ obiang/ cullen / rice/ fernandez/ wilshire/ lanzini.

4.) 21 Jul 2018 22:03:49
Listening to TIM VICKERY talking about BALBUENA on talk sport saying he has serious reservations about him making it in the premier league as he said he was very ponderous. COYI.

5.) 21 Jul 2018 23:39:36
Takes time for latinos to get up to speed plus only 2 nd week
Of training.

6.) 22 Jul 2018 11:53:44
Did Vickery think that Mooro was a greyhound then?

7.) 22 Jul 2018 12:21:56
Hopefully he hasn’t been bought for his speed more his his passing, tackling and general presence!
By all accounts Diop’s first two games haven’t been fantastic. But as bkk said only two weeks of pre season training done. Onwards and upwards!

8.) 22 Jul 2018 14:41:56
Explain please markro don't get it mooro?

9.) 22 Jul 2018 14:44:45
I think vickery meant clumsy ponderous not speed wise which i know it can mean but he meant clumsy and awkward. COYI.

10.) 22 Jul 2018 21:13:15
Whorya66, it was a tongue in cheek reference to Bobby Moore. You don’t need to be Usain Bolt to be a high quality footballer. I’m pretty sure that MP has an excellent handle on South American players. To be that negative about Balbuena before he’s kicked a ball for us is simply irritatingly.

11.) 22 Jul 2018 21:23:14
Scores goals too, which must be awkward for the opposition, I imagine.

12.) 23 Jul 2018 12:12:52
Hi markro they qasnt my words and i don't make things up that was the words of VICKERY i am an extremely passionate supporter of whufc and would love to see him succeed as in recent posts I've bigged him up and i respect VICKERY whos extremely knowledgeable about south american football and he was merely stating he was ponderous which doesn't mean just speed he was referring to him being clumsy and i didn't know who you was referring to i didn't know mooro was his nickname and thought you were referring to a today footballer so i apologise but was merely stating info from a realible source and vickery and myself wasnt trying to degrade a player i for one haven't seen but vickery has and he said he had talent also which i didn't put in my first post which i know think i should have i cannot wait to see him because on youtube he looks very strong both in the air and on the ball but I've fell into that as most players look good on youtube as you only see the good bits obviously. COYI.

13.) 23 Jul 2018 12:49:53
Hey, Whorya66, no worries, mate. I wasn’t having a pop at you, I just get wound up by so called experts (like Vickery) emphasising the negative aspects of a new player who hasn’t had the chance to prove himself or otherwise in the Prem. I have absolute faith in MP’s understanding of players in South America.
Balbuena might be a superstar hit, or he might end up a back up CB, but we should all give the bloke a fair crack of the whip.

18 Jul 2018 15:56:19
What's the sketch regarding CMs? I hear we're after N'Zonzi (but we're still after the world if you read the news) but I don't see paying 35m for a 29 year old as good business when we have obiang who I think will be perfect under MP

kaneob18

1.) 18 Jul 2018 16:30:03
Id try for a very underated midfielder who hasn't been given a chance at chelsea and if we were serious would be available is DRINKWATER we could loan for a year with a view to a transfer at the end the only problem would be if and i believe he will has a great season his value would rocket we would be getting a premier league winner and tidy footballer for €20 million whos 26 years old if there was money left in the kitty with a few going out there should be i'd try and buy DRINKWATER now.

Massive anti climax. I personally am disappointed. Yes we have done good business but so have all the other clubs around us and I feel we’ve started well and now let teams even the playing field and maybe even overtake us. Hoping we get 1 or 2 more in and changes my mind.

On Bernard, surely he isn’t going to sign for anyone before Friday as a few clubs may come circling if they miss out on other targets, obviously with him being a free agent? If he is money motivated or not it seems silly to sign when he can get a better offer wherever he goes come Friday?

Everyone was singing DGS and MP’s praises a few weeks ago, I said we hadn’t done enough and was shot down. People all now seem to think they were in the same boat as me but nobody was, everyone on here commented on how good a season we would have.
Essentially, if you were that positive a few weeks ago then what’s changed? I don’t think we’ve been as bad as people are making out.
Liverpool - admittedly we were poor.
Bournemouth - lacking confidence.
Arsenal - unlucky not to get at least a point.
Wolves - confidence was just clearly very low.

There have been glimpses that suggest we could be in for a decent season still. If arnie puts that chance away against wolves, it’s a different story.

If we can beat Everton, can’t see why not, then this could all be a distant memory come November. Think we all have to just stay positive and support the team. Once we get that first win I think we will see a completely different side, all coming down to a lack of confidence at the moment I think. Fresh start after the international break.

Creswell isn’t match fit and there is a lot of people slating MPs decision. Yes it cost us the match. First two goals were arguably down to masuaku to some degree. The third was a terrible decision, no excuse for that at that level of the game. But say we played Zabaleta there, is that a good shout or does that just destroy Masuakus confidence? Yes he got it wrong but Creswell wasn’t match fit so that’s an invalid argument.

Just a bit of light hearted banter raver haha I’m sure we’d be happy with your squad! It’s a competitive league though and feel like spurs might fall short of top four this year. Your whole team were pretty much in World Cup until the end, which is a credit to them (painful to say that haha), but that will effect at least some of them at some point during the season.
