Some interesting Patson Daka media noise.

Markro

1.) 10 Jan 2021 14:27:46
He is some player . Would love to see us sign him.

2.) 10 Jan 2021 15:04:56
We are being linked by the media to anyone and everyone, we wait and see but not surprised if either we sign no-one or Arnie returns.

3.) 11 Jan 2021 08:07:17
exwhuemployee has said on his pateron that our main 3 targets are daka, dia and adam armstrong.

4.) 11 Jan 2021 10:29:16
I just read all the rumours on news sites and it appears we will have 5 new strikers by next week - happy days, the options we will have at our disposal is fantastic - or is this just the standard transfer window where we will get someone on the last day who was our fourth choice?

5.) 11 Jan 2021 10:42:35
I'd be happy with any of them 3.

6.) 11 Jan 2021 11:03:53
After loosing a mint on Hallar i would leave overseas players alone unless they are under 5mil. or have already have played in our Prem. or Championship.
Hallar was a big lose and it looks like we are going to take another big hit on Anderson.
We picked our best foreward AM from stoke, a lot of clubs are struggling now, its time to look in our own back yard. We can't afford another buying another 20 mil player who can't handle the English game.
Clubs look at overseas payer and the do look good in the French league but its a big gamble if they can adapt to our league Chelea have brought 3 forwards 240mil. not one of them would replace a fit Antonio,

7.) 11 Jan 2021 15:57:01
I agree Bideford, it is important Moyes and the board choose wisely. France may be a place to pick up bargains ATM but still NO guarnatee they will transition to PL. Dia and Daka have pace and LOOK like they have the physical attributes we need, and they are young and fit the "young and hungry" RedBull mantra Moyes is after. But will they transition or just be another Batshuayi?
Josh King however does offer proven PL quality though, and at the right price i think he would be a good option for us. At 28 though he will not represent much of a return on investment once he has played two years with us. While I agree (and said myself) that he has played a lot out wide in the past (worth noting if any of you look at his scoring stats), but from going to a LOT of Bmouth games (i live here and had a season ticket to accompany my nephew) i always said to my Bmouth mates that Josh is at his BEST up front and not out wide.
I really do not know enough about the others to have a worthwhile opinion, other than Youtube vids. Maybe Ed's can lend us their opinions on whether they could cut it in the PL.

{Ed001's Note - don't know anything about Dia, but Daka does look a bit special. Bit too fond of talking about how great he is going to become though, which worries me. If he was going to say Real Madrid, then that's not so much of a problem, but going to West Ham might see him agitate for a move because he thinks he is better than the Hammers. Bit like Arnautovic did etc.

As for Armstrong, I have seen a little bit of him this season, he has changed so much from when I saw him as a kid with Newcastle. So much improvement playing regular football and looks like the kind of player Moyes would work well with. I am not so sure King is, as he is too fragile, and Moyes likes his players to work hard, King would pop his hamstring. Armstrong looks a decent bet, though he is not one I would have expected Moyes to be so keen on as he looks short when I have seen him. Moyes normally likes a player, in pretty much every position, who is particularly good in the air.}

8.) 11 Jan 2021 16:56:57
He's under 6ft 5'8 i think I read which is definitely small for moyes, but needs must maybe?

{Ed001's Note - maybe he is learning to work a different way? Moyes has had a lot of time to think about things, so maybe he is evolving his football ideology a bit.}

9.) 11 Jan 2021 17:16:39
He likes the red bull model and is definitely moving to a young strong and motivated squad, maybe he has had his eyes opened to new ways, let's see shall we Ed.

10.) 12 Jan 2021 09:11:40
moyes likes the red bull model problem is you need owners to help fund that to but our owner is to busy adding his son and wife to our board of directors.

11.) 12 Jan 2021 11:28:41
Im. keeping an open mind :) forever optimistic.

08 Jan 2021 09:58:55
It’s official. Haller has gone.

Markro

1.) 08 Jan 2021 10:52:23
Yep, but what's the plan we wonder?

2.) 08 Jan 2021 12:34:36
I don’t think they will drag out finding a replacement as we’ve got a good winnable run of games coming up so we need a striker to give us the best possible chance of winning those games and maybe getting us to our best finish in the prem since it started.

3.) 08 Jan 2021 13:23:17
TBH I am delighted we are acting and not standing still in this window. Haller is still a very good footballer, BUT the guy just doesn't suit Moyes's football, and does not have the attributes we need for our system. Moyes was stubborn by not adapting slightly, but I really like to see that we are TAKING ACTION to get what Moyes wants/ needs despite taking a financial loss on Haller. Board could have easily said no we are not taking a loss this big. Credit to the BOARD and credit to MOYES. Let's hope Moyes doesn't buy another Hugill to replace him . I have faith.
I'd also like to correct fans on here who have been saying he does not work hard. You are frankly wrong in my opinion. He does work hard and run, he just doesn't have the attributes to do it the way we want/ need. For this reason I am very happy we are selling. We need PACE, and Haller simply doesn't have it. Don't ask a man to give birth!
Haller has worked hard in what has clearly been a role he cannot play, and that must be very frustrating for him but i still belive he gave it his best shot. I wish him all the best at Ajax.

Zinchenko chatter.

I doubt we could afford his wages.

Versatile player though.

Markro

1.) 21 Dec 2020 09:28:17
Even if we traded Ukrainians? Sell Yarmo for Zinco?

2.) 21 Dec 2020 10:17:05
Yes, I would do that. We have enough reasonable AM strength to cope with losing Yarmo and we do need to beef up defence.

Zinchenko has played midfield too in the past.

Good to see that Antonio has signed and that that the club didn’t over commit.

Good business.

Markro

18 Dec 2020 19:51:03
Junior Firpo as LB/ LWB cover for Masuaku/ Cresswell?

Don’t know much about him, except he’s at Barca.

Barca fans seem to be happy to call for the taxi to get rid.

Interesting.

Markro

{Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath.}

1.) 18 Dec 2020 21:05:55
I tend to breathe evenly and deeply, Ed 002.

On reflection, a fine win yesterday. We now look like a side that is a genuine goal threat.

We are not just a one trick pony and the goals come from a range of players.

Our defence is generally sound and Moyse has got everyone running their socks off.

Dawson has been a revelation for me. I thought he was a run of the mill journeyman, but he’s been far more than that for us.

The midfield is firing on all cylinders and players across the park are busting a gut for each other and genuinely enjoying playing as a team.

Credit to Moyse for that.

Markro

1.) 27 Jan 2021 16:13:31
Markro, We are now playing with 11 players each game now that H has gone👍This so far is a WH I have not seen for so long! Full of energy and endeavour, as you say Dawson, what a loanee, we need to take the option on him as well ASAP, what a pairing with Ogbonna he is, Dawson and Soucek are combining with the headers and goals that H should have done if he hadn’t been hiding away!
Amazing how Dawson was released by Watford for obviously seemingly it to have a future there, then steps back up to the PL to almost being an automatic first team choice? What a find by DM as was Soucek, Coufal, Bowen
👍⚒⚒⚒.

2.) 27 Jan 2021 17:54:16
Ok, ok - time to stop discussing the H person, who is scoring elsewhere.

26 Jan 2021 14:53:48
Hwang?

Markro

1.) 26 Jan 2021 18:47:44
Being in Australia and watching Korea play where along with Japan and Australia, they dominate East Asia, he isn’t able to score goals often. Works hard, good ability on the ball, but like a lot of Koreans could be nicknamed jigsaw, goes to pieces in the box 😀.

23 Jan 2021 17:00:03
Very professional job today.

I think Moyse would really like Lanzini/ Benrahma to gel as our AM creativity.

Markro

1.) 23 Jan 2021 17:55:04
Was like a training game today, although Benrahma had a decent game, he should release the ball quicker in tight situations instead of trying to dribble his way through! Yarmelenko is still an impact sub for me, BBC gave him MOM which surprised me as I never saw anybody outstanding, just a good solid team effort👍This is really reassuring when you think of who wasn’t playing today? ⚒⚒⚒⚒.

2.) 23 Jan 2021 18:45:08
Agree Chelmsford did you get to see the whole game. Thought the youngster took his goal well right place at right time.

3.) 23 Jan 2021 22:14:29
Mercerl, from about 15 mins on, didn’t realise it was on BBC until I was looking at BBC checking score👍We seem to have more depth in the squad than I thought albeit against Doncaster! We looked solid as opposed to exciting, normally this would have been a potential upset but it never looked like that was going to happen, equal to a stroll about, next cup game will be a sizzler, no practice game there🤣 Next step Palace, always a slippery game against an underrated side IMO? ⚒⚒⚒⚒.

4.) 23 Jan 2021 22:57:57
Benrahma needs to start shooting sooner. His work rate is good enough, but I don’t see a man who will score more than 5 goals for us.

5.) 24 Jan 2021 07:48:36
Markwhu, agree, Willing runner as you say, but not sure if he’s PL material as yet, maybe he’s trying to hard to impress DM to justify his £25m option to buy?
Suppose I’m comparing him to Bowen, Soucek, Coufal that all hit the ground running! But at least you know he’s playing and trying? ⚒⚒⚒⚒.

20 Jan 2021 11:28:04
Hey, Ed’s?

Was my comment on the gentlemen’s agreement deleted?

Markro

{Ed047's Note - have you looked on the other pages Marko? I can see it came in?

1.) 20 Jan 2021 14:04:54
I can’t see it anywhere, but not to worry. I was just checking I hadn’t breached any rules.

{Ed047's Note - maybe it wasn’t factually correct Mark, I can only see that it came in and not who did what with it. Sorry bud.

If you’d breached rules I’m sure it would have been mentioned so no worries mate.

Apparently we’re after a striker described as, “Some Plea. ”.

Same here. AM is not what we need.

A powerful CM like Kral and an out and out goal scorer are far more important for the squad.

But it does seem like we’re playing chicken with MU over the Lingard loan fee.

Tremendous effort with the info, Ed002.

Many thanks.

My gut tells me that buying Benrahma outright this window and bringing Lingard into that loan space, will be it.

I can’t see there being anymore cash for the central striker we need.

Markro

{Ed002's Note - That is why they have jumped for Benrahma now, but they really must address the Stiker issue.}

Interesting that they chose the bigger spend on Benrahma instead of Dawson. I assume this early buy is to make space for Lingard on loan.

If Lingard signs, I can’t see us having the cash for the central striker we really need.

I’ve read that the club is keen as his work ethic and style of play suits Moyse. The Davids are also particularly interested because it would open up merchandising opportunities for the club in south east Asia.

I think it’s between the two of them and I think it’s a very respectful gesture that doesn’t affect what happens on the pitch, so it’s ok with me.

In many ways I’m actually keener to get CM cover (Kral anyone? ) ahead of another striker.

I know all of the Antonio frailty arguments, but we have managed well this season in spite of his injuries. My real concern is what happens if either Rice, or Soucek can’t play.

I’ll happily take both a new CM and a new striker, but for me, the CM position is the priority.

As good a time as any, Chelms. Their defence is very wobbly with the injuries they’ve got. I think we’ve got a real shot at it.
