Excellent performances from Lanzini, Fabianski and Rice. Very good from Diop and Ogbonna. The rest need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Anderson needs to stop being all fur coat and no knickers - you’re there to feed Haller. Do it for heaven’s sake. Haller didn’t really put a foot wrong, he just needs decent service and other attackers with him up front.

We actually played our best football when we were down a man.

A draw was a fair result in the end, but when a game is spoiled by a clueless referee, what can you do?

I hope that Johnson gets a call up for the next game as Zaba’s legs aren’t up to 90 mins any longer. Please don’t stick Ogbonna, or Cresswell in at LB.

Thought Anderson tracked back well - but he slowed up play when attacking. Could this be because Yarmolenko was so off the pace that we only had Haller in the box and he was covered? Need to get more in there more quickly perhaps?

There’s a rumour we could be 3rd tomorrow night, but keep it quiet! 🤫🤫🤫🤫.

Markro

Joint 2nd!

2.) 17 Sep 2019 10:36:39
So much for that! 😪.

01 Sep 2019 00:35:35
Terrific win. We could have had a hatful, but Krul was outstanding.

Anderson MoM - some of his through balls were a joy to see (eye of the needle precision) .

Lanzini terrific too, Haller excellent (with exception of that tackle - he needs to be careful there) .

Rice and Noble will be nailed on as a DM partnership for a while. Even Sanchez didn’t put a foot wrong.

Pleased for Yarmolenko as his goal will give him confidence and it was great to see his celebration with the medical staff.

We’ve got some very winnable matches coming up. Happy days.

1.) 01 Sep 2019 09:03:09
Agree Markro, Krul was amazing yesterday. Team appeared to be balanced. I think we look stronger with Ogbonna, he tidied up for Diop, plus being left footed helps.

2.) 01 Sep 2019 09:07:16
I think the full back partnership is pretty nailed on as well! Fredo and Arthur both put in very good performances and they have pace to burn

Anderson is an absolute joy when his head I switched on. Haller reminds me a bit of Kanoute, great player!

3.) 02 Sep 2019 11:48:22
100% Great performance.

4.) 02 Sep 2019 12:01:26
100%, great performance.
Balance in CM is key for us, and Noble is the guy who enables us to achieve this when he's alongside Rice. Nobes is great on the ball and transitions the ball into the creative players so well. He also has the defensive mentality and physical commitment needed to help Rice protect the back four. Our biggest weakness may be that we have no cover for Nobes (our closest is Snodgrass and he is a winger by trade), while Nobes also has his shortfalls with his lack of pace. If he had Kante's legs he would be a superstar!
Ovations like the one he received on Saturday should be encouraged. He is a club legend, and we should want to show the current crop (Rice/ Lanzini/ Haller/ Fornals/ Diop) how we treat our legends, and make them want to do the same.
Have to put a word out for Masuaku, who once again proved he is improving at LB. Still has a mistake in him (especially against a big team who will attack us more) but he is improving, and we love a player who gets his head down and works on their game! Long may it continue.

5.) 03 Sep 2019 17:55:01
Nickinho, agree with your post, have always rated Masuaku, every player has mistakes in them obviously, he’s taken bags of stick from many posters, but he is an attacking wing back, with bags of pace, a good ball crosser and a grafter👍👍⚒⚒⚒.

6.) 17 Sep 2019 15:09:21
Masuaku red will be recinded without fail. COYI.

C&H increasingly optimistic about Ajeti.

Markro

1.) 07 Aug 2019 11:07:33
Ex says the deal will be completed today.

{Ed002's Note - It will be a big step up.}

2.) 07 Aug 2019 11:47:02
Yes, I think so too, but you can only score against whoever you’re playing and his recent record is outstanding.

Failing Haller, or Chicha injuries, he’ll be the third option, but if he can be in the right place at the right time, our multiple attacking playmakers ought to give him opportunities.

He’s also of an good age (22) for MP to delevop.

3.) 07 Aug 2019 12:25:58
What's he like? Never watched or even heard of him. anyone shed any light on him?

{Ed002's Note - He has done OK and scored goals in Switzerland but I doubt he is moving as a regular started.}

4.) 07 Aug 2019 12:56:08
I just watched the video of him on C&H: looks very good in the air and scores equally well with either foot. I concede that the defences are Swiss League, but you’ve still got to put them away and the range of shots and chips looks very encouraging.

5.) 07 Aug 2019 13:17:55
Really liking our direction cardoso 18 ajeti 22 and the Stuttgart player who 22 very refreshing and a team who can grow together.

6.) 07 Aug 2019 14:07:53
Twitter is suggesting a done deal.
Ed002 is right, massive step up but still an improvement on Huggill.
Weirdly have a good feeling about him and Cardoso, both look very professional.

7.) 07 Aug 2019 16:55:39
Both Salah and Shaquiri came from the Swiss League. Fingers crossed!

8.) 07 Aug 2019 17:02:47
Mistley. whose the Stuttgart player? Been away on holiday for a while so missed quite a bit.

9.) 07 Aug 2019 20:26:00
eds just wondering if you have seen or know what cardoso is like? thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't sorry.}

10.) 07 Aug 2019 22:49:39
I think you will all be suprised how well this AJETI will perform as SWISS football isn't as bad at all BASEL have always been tough to beat in home games of champions league now before you all shoot me down in flames I never said they ever looked like getting out of their group but always when I watched them they were decent.

11.) 08 Aug 2019 10:49:15
Ed 002,A YETI is BIGFOOT, not big step!

Rumours about Pulgar. He would be a great replacement for Obiang at little cost.

Obiang: £9m
Pulgar €12m release clause.

Net spend about £2m.

Markro

1.) 19 Jul 2019 23:24:36
Depends on signing on fees etc. so probably a bit more but would be an upgrade.

2.) 20 Jul 2019 10:19:14
Agreed. I’ve seen Ed002’s comprehensive list of transfer costs, but I don’t see any way to incorporate them (or make much sense of them! ) when discussing players moving.

It would still seem an excellent transfer move to sell Obiang and replace him by triggering Pulgar’s release clause.

3.) 20 Jul 2019 14:49:46
One thing that is obviously clear is our back up players are no way near good enough if we get our usual injuries were screwed net spend of 32 million so far and looking like freebies or loans where's all the money gone with all the players sold and their wages saved same old Sullivan and Gold milking the club dry.

4.) 25 Jul 2019 10:32:43
I agree we carry too many players that are not of the standard required if we are to push into the higher positions in the League.
Sanchez Is appalling, Ogbonna is a liability, The Striker we bought from Preston has never been up to it (£10M thrown away ) , Cullen isn’t going to make the grade, Reece Oxford isn’t doing it, Hernandez isn’t scoring weight of goals and only in the box when he does score, he is past his best, left back is a problem and one of the two should go and a decent full back brought In.
Reid needs to prove he can stay fit but deserves the chance
We should get rid of the lot they won’t ever be 1st X1 players and bench warming at best is not going to help them . We should get a fee for most of them which we can spend on decent squad players and buy some quality youths to develop.
We hold on to youths for too long when it’s clear they are never going to be of Premier League standard. What was a flood of top youth players is now a trickle . We should be trying to buy promising 14, yr olds and up if we haven’t got our own . If they are any good then they should progress to the squad and bench at 16 . Other clubs are very aggressive in their youth recruitment we should be trying to bring talent in .
Obiang has gone, in fairness he wasn’t getting much game time and won’t be missed too much, in fact the £8M is more valuable if used for purchases.

Round 7 completed and we’re 5th. Who here among us would not have taken that?

Markro

28 Sep 2019 17:32:15
Last year we could have lost that.

Now that Yarmo is reaching full match fitness, he is really performing. He was excellent at both ends of the pitch today.

Haller continues to impress - his movement and first touch is so good. Great vision too, but I’d like him to have a go himself sometimes.

Rice outstanding yet again.

Lanzini: sharp. Wilshere: well off the pace. Has the game moved beyond him whilst he’s been out injured for so long?

I’ll take the point.

Markro

1.) 28 Sep 2019 19:51:36
3rd in the league ain't bad going.

26 Sep 2019 20:43:15
Well that cup is done and dusted. Terrible result - looks horrendous, but, for heaven’s sake move on! I’ll take 7th this year and no cups.

We are a club that is developing into something worthwhile. Too many West Ham “supporters” expect immediate success.

MP knows a bit more about it than any of us. Let him get on with it!

Markro

1.) 26 Sep 2019 22:15:01
Marko I am not sure those that have been fans a long time expect instant success. I don't think its even a case of losing. It is more the nature in which it happened and the way in which the team played. Lot's of reasons: too many changes, players didn't gel as they had never played together, not enough game time for some of them, but the one that struck me as being the bigger issue was what looked like a lack of effort by some to do the hard work which is needed no matter what team you are playing and what level they are at. Hopefully MP can sort them out as we will rely on some of them during the season to come into the team and play a role.

2.) 27 Sep 2019 07:54:45
Sanchez and Walcott are shocking and two terrible purchases.

3.) 27 Sep 2019 14:21:45
Walcott.

4.) 28 Sep 2019 06:50:11
I’m guessing that is Wilshire?

22 Sep 2019 17:32:03
Why is it that whenever a “Big 6” team gets beaten by some other team, the critics’ views are always about the decline of the B6 side and not the rise of the other side?

Markro

22 Sep 2019 16:17:13
Really happy with that result: tight at the back (third consecutive clean sheet) .

Special mentions for Diop, Cresswell, Fornals and Haller, (whose glances and flicks on and close control were exceptional) .

- and we now have the positive goal difference I predicted we’d end up with. Relatively early days, but I’m much happier at this stage this year, than last.

Markro

1.) 22 Sep 2019 17:22:44
Playing well this season markro, you lot should be aiming for the champions league places especially with spurs, utd, Chelsea not up to much this season,

2.) 22 Sep 2019 18:39:20
So you ain’t put a tenner on us going down raver.

3.) 22 Sep 2019 19:51:25
Was you at the game? Must of watched a different game to me. Fornals looked lost to me and Haller just couldn't get into the game for the first 65 minutes.

United were poor, except for 15 minutes after half time. A mature West ham performance I thought.

4.) 23 Sep 2019 01:41:04
Was brilliant to get another win but I always thought we would against a poor Man Utd team. Big test up next, I think away days like Bournemouth will go a long way to telling us where we are really at.

5.) 23 Sep 2019 14:24:32
No not this season bkhammer you look to good to go down, I might put my tenner on spurs to go down instead as they are very poor.

Apparently it’s what the industry does. So far the biggest speculation has been about Man U and I’m pretty sure that MP has already persuaded Rice that they are a once great team in serious decline and that he has better European prospects with us.

Disagree. We should be looking to win every match and Palace (who have important players missing today) are the sort of team we need to beat, if we have any aspirations of finishing well above last year.

Fabianski’s absence is a concern, but MPH went for Roberto in the last window, so they must believe he’s good enough.

Our outfield 10 is just about our first pick, surely.

I’m predicting that we’ll win it by two clear goals. 👍.
