Maiga rumoured to be on way to Metz. Initial season loan with view to purchase. Irons interested in Richards, Nastasic and Aldereiweld. Definitely need some defensive back up and if we could get two from these three, that would set us right up.

2.) I guaruntee Maiga would score goals if he had decent service. He has the best touch out of any of the strikers we had last year, and isn't a bad finisher. he just isn't a hitman
3.) Have to agree with davewhu maiga cannot play lone striker role nor is he a winger.
played of a 2nd striker he will score goals very good in and around the 20/25 yard area shot wise confidence is shot. sam refuses to play a 442 which leaves me wondering why we buy more than 3 strikers

Another interesting post IRONMIKE, keep em coming. All over the press and TV that deal agreed between Irons and Marseilles for transfer of Morgan Amafitano, who we missed last season. At least he's a creative player, and, as long as we move the midfield and defence thirty yards up the pitch to get close to the forward (s), he could be a good signing.
1.) We need to move the defence and midfield 30 yards up and BFS 30 miles away
2.) Ha ha ha. Nice one.
3.) Well it seems as though we are getting Amalfitano and Sakho if personal terms can be agreed.
Good game today against Sampdoria and a lot more like it. Kouyate, Noble and Downing looked good and a good 3-2 win. Special praise for Elliott Lee who did well after coming on.
At the back Collins was slow and a bit sloppy for one of their goals but cresswell and potts did really well on the left so looking a good combination.
All in all, a completely different performance from other pre season games, a vast improvement and very encouraging. AND, we came from behind to win. Long may it continue

Amalfitano could be a good freebie! Defence is looking good, midfield will be strong and if we can get another striker(wick ham) we will be all round solid! A nice top ten this year and push on next year. COYI

Several reports on various sites stating Croatian LB Ivan Strnic in London for West Ham United medical. 27 years old, with 32 caps, missed World Cup due to injury. Fee rumoured to be less than £3 mill. Strnic plays for Dnipro in the Ukraine, and this may help in West Ham United signing Konoplyanka from the same club, as many players want to leave due to political situation in country. Let's wait and see.
1.) We need a right back before we get left back cover, that we already have in potts. I think a good right back and its been a great summer. Richards or jenkinson, and then maybe a few loans. Keep most players like diame and morrison and get Reid signed. Get rid of maiga and o'brien

TV sources saying Irons have put in a bid for Connor Wickham. No more details.
1.) Bid rumoured to be £5m. Sunderland hae already stated they want £6m
It seems West Brom are genuinely interested in Matt Jarvis whilst Cardiff are after Morrison. If we could sell these two and offload Maiga it would be great news and it would offer us room or Wickham, Obiang and Amalfitano

I've supported BFS since he came to the club, but after the last four friendlies, following his promise to play a more attacking brand of football, I have to say I truly believe he does not know how to. Not one shot on target v Schalke (apart from the pens) and half an hour into the Malaga game, same thing. These games, and the NZ tour, were an ideal opportunity for him to develop this new style, but he has made absolutely no effort to do so whatsoever, despite what he said following the first defeat in NZ. He has to go otherwise I believe we will be in serious trouble this season. Sorry to be so negative, but after defending him on many occasions and being caned for it, I have finally run out of patience.
1.) What amazes me also is that the fans all cried out about AC and said it was a waste and nobody listened.
Now everyone is crying out about getting rid of Allardyce and again nobody listens

Afternoon everyone. For those who aren't aware, the Schalke & Malaga games are live on TV this weekend. Sat 2/8 16. 45 v Schalke; Sun 3/8 14. 15 v Malaga. Both on Quest, channel 167 on Sky.

Well, how disappointing was that. A couple of observations from me, for what they're worth. Diame is not a wide player, Nolan has had it, Cresswell looked pretty sound, Demel and Diame mean we can't attack on the right, Downing is worth his place before Jarvis and finally, please, please, please can we shoot more. I was really excited about the change to an attacking philosophy, and I know it's still early, but today's performance was really depressing. Same old, same old. I think I'll record Saturdays game and watch it later.
1.) Again to re-iterate. Did the board not say to Sam "More attacking football next season or your offski"
Well, on this showing! Ok, so itsa meaningless pre season friendly, but tis team finihed 9th our of 10 last year and are renowned for conceding loads of goals.
So what happened and what's the fiasco with AC.
The lot em need a flippin shake up and should be thankful they play for a great club like the Hammers

It's all very well saying cash in, but no one, including Newcastle, has made any sort of enquiry, and, with his injury record, do you think anyone would offer anything near £15 mill. No chance.
Apparently he is raining with us so we can get a close look before making a final decision.

Ed039 - Not saying there was no contact. I am saying that Chico is a cheat by feigning injury to ensure an opponent got sent off. At the very minimum, that is bringing the game in to disrepute. Everyone saw what he did, and if you condone that, you are part of the problem. {Ed039's Note - doc, I aint condoning going down easy, not at all, but AC swung an arm and made contact, WHU have been my English team since I was a boy, but that was dangerous play, please just take the blinkers off and watch it again)
