I'd like to see us sign Iheanacho, Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah. They hardly get a game at their current clubs and are so full of potential and we could offer them regular football and that's got to be what they all want rather than bit parts. I don't know how realistic these signings would be but would love to see is invest in some quality young players to build our team around.

Any news on transfers Ironmike? I'm a bit worried after the last couple of performances and we need at least two more in ASAP.

I read three articles earlier. One that said West Ham were trying to push through a move for Palermo left back Ashraf Lazaar this weekend. Apparently we are the only team to actually table a bid and the player has already accepted terms of £18k a week wages. Not sure if this is true but I'd be happy if it is. I suppose he could fill in at left back in Europe assuming we qualify and provide competition for Arthur Masuaku at left back in the league whilst also cover for left wing.

The second said West Ham were interested in taking Bony on loan for the season if they could free up a bit of space on the wage bill. Albeit his wages would have to be subsidised by Man City.

The third article said that with Sakho being out of contention at the moment after the reoccurrence of a back injury, we are unlikely to be able to sell him in this window. Instead the two players that could be departing this summer are Pedro Obiang who is interesting Fiorentina and Torino, and Enner Valencia.

2.) 19 Aug 2016 21:17:39
Arthur masuaka plyer in CL qualifier does that mean he is cup tied for whole or europa league or does it reset at any point? I would have thought the whole competetion but someone I know reacon he we be able to play in group stage.

3.) 19 Aug 2016 23:17:59
missed the europa game can anybody tell me how calleri played and how long feghouli's out for please IRONMIKE did u watch the game mate? . COYI.

4.) 20 Aug 2016 14:59:25
Performance was very poor at this time we seem to be disconnected and without ideas it's what you would expect perhaps early pre season on this showing I'm not too excited about this season Ironmike.

5.) 20 Aug 2016 15:51:24
Spot on.

22 Aug 2015 20:56:59
I posted a while back saying that the DGS should throw caution to the wind and spend more to get the players we need in to ensure our premier league survival and can't believe they think our squad is good enough. I know money doesn't grow on trees but why the hell are they doing this the year before we move into the OS?

Hi Ironmike, you said re next three transfer windows are the most important in the clubs history, any idea why the DGS are thinking as it looks bleak after the last two games and we don't have any decent wide men in the squad.
Surely the DGS can secure some more money for transfers as the squad needs some real quality added to it if we are going to stay in the league let alone compete in it.

1.) 23 Aug 2015 08:13:11
Everyone hitting the panic button we lost our first 2 home games last season 1 win out of 3 same as this year it's early day most people wanted Sam out . I never I would have preferred to keep him but the players still have to get used to bilic way of playing no1 was saying this first game of season when beat arsenal

2.) 23 Aug 2015 08:54:53
We need to start trying to keep eleven players on the park first, it's becoming a joke, two mistakes by Cresswell, POTY last season, cost us greatly, Ogbonna two poor games in a row, needs to adjust quickly to our game. scoring is not a problem, defending. shocking, Randolph made two great saves and did well, if Green doesn't drop his demands leave him and use the cash on the back four

3.) 23 Aug 2015 08:57:00
Forgot to add,Van Dijk is the player to get, if Stones is worth 30 million so is this guy, won't get him for 8 million though, 12-15 will be the price. worth it though, immense

4.) 23 Aug 2015 09:29:28
Couldn't agree with you more Kev WHU, I have been posting about VVD for some weeks on here now .

5.) 23 Aug 2015 10:02:34
I thought Randolph was alright all the goals weren't his fault they were unstoppable better than what I expected

6.) 23 Aug 2015 11:42:09
If VVD was English, his price would be massive due to the need for home grown players in squads, I look at some of the guys like Mangala who cost a fortune and is pants, Spuds have spent a fortune on c/backs who are a lot worse. Southampton seem to think he's going there though, nothing signed though, so that could change quickly

27 Jul 2015 23:02:22
Ironmike/Eds do you think that DGS have plans to sell us once we've moved into the new stadium?
I know it's hard for them to keep throwing money at the club but this window is so vital and I know there's still time to get players in and we should some new faces in the coming weeks.
It feels like we should have a quality forward and one or two wingers already sorted and it's easy for me say what most of us are thinking. It must be an impossible task signing players on a budget but the importance of this window and the upcoming season makes me think the DGS would be throwing caution to the wind and ensuring we have the quality to thrive in the league not to mention the added games in Europe.
Would they try to minimise the amount they spend and the try to sell us on?

Unrelated to the above but just a mention on Nolan who has been a great servant and captain for us. I know he's not the player he was but we should respect what he has done for us rather than keep slating him, as fans we should have more class than that COYI

Chris COYI

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware - there will be clubs on the market in 2017 but I don't see WHU as one.}

1.) 28 Jul 2015 05:11:08
I note a lot of discussion about strikers and rightly so. While a lot is said about cost and IronMike and Ed gave a good summary of the additional cost on top of the transfer fee, something that hasn't been mentioned is wages. When some of these strikers are asking silly money it can add another 4-5mill a year in payments which also have on costs. Remember the debt and long term outgoings the biscuit men left us with due to high wages.

13 Jul 2015 21:09:43
Seriously happy with our transfer business so far. Can Ironmike or any of the eds say how many more players we are likely to get in as I've read our transfer business is nearly done. I'd like to think we add at least one striker Remy would be perfect and a couple of decent wingers as well as cover for RB and LB but this might be unrealistic. We will have a lot of games this season and being in Europe is great but it does affect teams just look at Everton and Swansea last season. Can't wait to who else we sign.

Chris COYI

1.) 13 Jul 2015 22:40:24
HI chris. Dgs are trying to reinvent west ham as it where this is going to take time money and patience, the competition in the top half if the premier league is intense, and going to become more so, although it was obvious to myself and many others. That the first half of last seasons form , would evaporate, simply owing to the fact that neither quality or numbers where sufficient to carry pre xmas form on, now with the euro competition , cups and league there's a lot if games, after the next two rounds of the euro cup , the kids will not be good enough, so pressure begins immediately when the group stage meets the premier league, all the top teams have two quality players for each position plus three players who can play multi positions, THAT is the target, but we are a ways from that at present, wh just cannot afford to buy a ton of people in two windows, we will need at least another two windows following this one Also the players purchased are reflecting the managers style and wishes, , at the. Moment we are lumbered with some seriously bad picks, by the Sam era. These will be offloaded in due course, You and I like remy for instance, but wh not moving on him at present, I am expecting, jenkinson, possibly song, Destro is a maybe wingers, that's it Next window 2 right backs will be first call as jenkinson will not be loaned again, I also am fearful about Randolph, but that's my opinion only, wh are far from finished product, but avery good start has been made regards IRONMIKE

2.) 13 Jul 2015 23:00:07
Cheers Ironmike. I get that Rome wasn't built in a day and over the next couple of seasons we should see some really exciting times. Just hope being in Europe doesn't put to much of a strain on our squad and jeopardise our league form. Still exciting times to be a hammer and let's hope for a couple more signings soon.

Really enjoy reading your post yourself and the eds do a great job keeping us informed on the news.

I'd like to see Loftus Cheek and Chalobah signed up. They would get regular football with us and surely they don't want to waste away on Chelsea's bench for another season. We missed a trick with dembele in the summer as we could of sighed him. Our transfer policy has been poor especially when it comes to signing forwards. Really want us to kick on next season as the board did say they wanted us to aim for CL football but we are a million miles away fro the top 4. Next two games are massive but winnable. âš’âš’âš’

Chris COYI

1.) 03 Feb 2017 00:43:20
Don't think we'd sell Loftus-Cheek or Chalobah, both are getting match minutes and the latter especially is an established squad member.

2.) 03 Feb 2017 12:49:25
Watched Huddersfield last night and was really impressed with the way they played I think Wagner is a manager destined for the premiership and the two boys on loan from Chelsea looked quality.

3.) 03 Feb 2017 12:56:51
Glad to see mike thinks nobles times up at West ham whoever thinks we wouldn't be a better team without him then I think are looking through their claret and blue tinted specs I get he's a trier but surely it has to be more than that we are after if we are going to improve I've never rated the guy, I've never seen a player who gives the ball away in our half as much as him, we've got the replacement waiting in Fernandez so give him a chance I get he's young and one for the future but I think he's better than noble already.

4.) 03 Feb 2017 17:14:03
Pressure mounting on slaven that's for sure but I think Press making more out if Mancini being at the game than is true. Even if he came in he would want a wedge of cash and control which am not sure dgs will like. As for benitez, he was promised funds by ashley! Braithwaite will be allowed to leave in the summer, fact!

Thank you DGS, pulled off some great signings today and after the frustration of the two home games it's been an amazing week to be Hammer.
Things are looking positive for us COYI

Thanks Eds and Ironmike for all the info over the last few months.

Great result and a quality performance from the team COYI

Hope DGS back Bilic and get a couple of quality players in before Tuesday.
I'd like to see Moses and a striker sign, Ironmike any chance on us getting Remy or do Chelsea want to keep hold of him.

Chris COYI

23 Aug 2015 23:44:37
I know we need a decent goal scorer but the fact we haven't got any decent wingers is seriously worrying, we need two wingers with real pace to stretch our opponents. We can't play to narrow is doesn't work and I really hope the DGS don't risk our premier league survival to save themselves a few quid in the short term because it will be an absolute injustice to end up back in the championship.

I might appear negative but we can't play like we have the last couple of weeks it's simply not good enough and the DGS have a responsibility to ensure we stay in the league for us as fans and themselves because they have done so much good for the club.

I hope we sign some quality players and these last two results will just be a blip because we should of taken at least 4 points from the last two games.

Thanks Ironmike/ed002 for your insights on what's happening, I'm being impatient in regards to us making our final signings and if we can sign two or three more player our squad would look much healthier.
Is it possible we will look at a couple of loan to buys? Obviously we need quality and I know the DGS wanted to keep away from loans if possible but we are short of quality up front and a decent winger.
Are Remy and Mirallas definitely a no go for us?

I worry about us being overstretched with the added games in Europe and thought DGS would have our transfer business done by now but there's still time so fingers crossed on adding the finishing touches to the team.

Pato is a good player but his injury record is appalling so not sure we could accommodate another striker who is so injury prone.
I'm think we need Remy but guess we'll find out soon who we'll sign.
Does Ironmike or any of the eds know if the Salah rumours are true as I read he's off to Roma, also do we look likely to sign Mirallas? Our attack would be so strong if we could sign Remy, Mirallas and Salah but not sure it's possible but I can dream.

We need to keep Valencia he was playing so well when Carroll and Nolan were out of the team. I don't think Sam will drop Carroll but we played some amazing football when both Carroll and Nolan were out of the team. Since Carroll came back we haven't been the same and I know he's scored a couple of goals but he's not as mobile as Valencia or Sahko and Nolan doesn't offer anything unfortunately.

I want to see us move forward and we should try and sign Remy and ship out Carroll then we would have an even more mobile front line and would score more goals. I know this is unrealistic but would be the way for us to move forwards.

Hopefully we kick on and beat Liverpool at the weekend not a bad time to play them let's hope we get a result.

Didn't Moyes bring Baines, pienaar, Coleman and Mirales to Everton? His style of play wasn't that bad to watch hence why the most successful manager in the EPL wanted Moyes to be his successor.

The reason Moyes is a good manager is that he know when to rough up his opponents and he knows when to play which is what modern managers should be able to adapt to who your playing and us different tactics.

Chris COYI

{Ed001's Note - if you say so, but there are many, including most Everton fans, who would disagree with you completely. As for Fergie's choice, well that was not based on his style of play, so I have no idea why you are bringing that into it.}

Not a fair comment there Ed, Moyes may have struggled at Manchester United but at Everton his style of play wasn't that bad. I think Fergie liked him because he used a similar style which is a million miles away from Sam who appears to be incapable of mixing up his style of play or having a plan B, C etc.

I think Moyes would be a massive improvement on Sam and most fans would welcome him to our club.

Chris COYI

{Ed001's Note - his style of play was roughing up the opposition and hitting long balls to Fellaini in most games. It was entirely fair, his style of play was not good to watch, hence why Everton fans are so loving having Martinez and his brand of football at the club.}

Cambell would of been a great signing for us he was a class act during the World Cup and against Manchester United in the champions league last season. Unfortunately we've already loaned Jenkinson from Arsenal so we'd have to buy him outright and don't think we'd have the funds, shame we couldn't have both players but let's see what happens during the window.
