HEY TIN! Hammers news dated 22nd Feb 2025 "Graham Potter faces daunting prospect at West Ham next week as calls increase for manager to be sacked"!

Thanks, but where were these”calls”? I found reports of them, but can’t find the actual calls! In any case, calling for a manager’s head after only six games is simply ridiculous and cannot be taken seriously.

Potter is not a fraud for sure, he knows what he’s doing, he wouldn’t have been my choice, but that’s irrelevant, WH is a very difficult and demanding managers job, the board see themselves as top six members, which is ridiculous, they have champagne taste and want to pay brown ale money, that’s the basic problem, second problem, there has been constant interference in transfer business by Sullivan in the past, who thinks he had encyclopaedic knowledge of football, which is laughable, third problem, is WH fans want to witness quality football on a regular basis, against teams, which have been better managed i and have better quality players and organisation, Problem number four, is clear, Potter will be supported this coming summer, but it will be under duress, so he might be forced to cut a few corners, that spells trouble, and is already happening Ie CRESSWELL, as you are aware it now looks likely he will be extended AGAIN, and used as second left back, or reserve CB, and Emerson sold, he’s 35/6 years old, we are supposed to go for youth, it’s a bad, bad move, he’s got no legs left, a silly idea, that’s to save money, moves like that, will put Potter in trouble

Agreed Joyful. One step forward 3 steps back. Sell him bsck to Ipswich when they get relegated
6.) 03 Mar 2025

Can I suggest GP may want to utilise Cresswell as a reserve centre-back?
7.) 03 Mar 2025
03 Mar 2025 16:00:20
Yeh, that’s exactly what I posted, but that’s not the direction, we are supposed to be going in, ? the idea was to move on from home of the elderly, and bring youth in, yes the youngsters have to be blended in, for sure, but renewing players who will be 36 next season is not the way to go
8.) 03 Mar 2025
03 Mar 2025 18:44:07
I take your point Joyful but as you have said many times before there is a vast number of players who need replacing, something around 10. Now it’s very unlikely we can replace that amount successfully, even with bringing in players who are currently out on loan. From what I have seen he has played pretty well in the 3 man centre backs. So whilst it does seem ridiculous to keep a player of his age we are probably going to have to make some sacrifices in the transfer market and for example, would you rather keep Rodriguez or Cresswell or even Coufal. Out of those 3 I could keep cresswell. Just my opinion

03 Mar 2025 19:32:00
Yeh, I can agree with that point, you are correct, the problem is not that, is Cresswell the only one or is Fabianski getting another year. And so on, that’s my point, until we change the makeup of the squad we are getting nowhere, making minor changes will see us , staying where we are, it’s a squad game, that’s what we lack, and until that’s changed, Hammer D, don’t see us making much improvement, we have players that must go, there are plenty people out there, it’s doable
10.) 03 Mar 2025
03 Mar 2025 19:50:00
There’s little financial gain in letting Cresswell go whereas selling Emerson would get some money in. I also think he has been pretty good with Scarles playing outside him. Like Hammer D said Joyful, you yourself said it can’t all be done in 1 window therefore with that being the case giving Cresswell another year doesn’t seem a gad move to me ….
11.) 03 Mar 2025
03 Mar 2025 20:00:42
Yeh your all bending my thoughts to agree, ok, and I must agree, Cresswell has been good for sure, but are we going to see renewals for others! Somehow we must start switching to younger players
12.) 03 Mar 2025
03 Mar 2025 20:14:37
I think Cresswell has got something left to offer as a CB, but not as a WB where we are used to seeing him play. It might not be popular, but I can’t think the same way about Antonio who I think was long finished before his accident. To think that he can come back and have something constructive to contribute to the first team squad, sadly is emotional wishful thinking in my opinion.
13.) 03 Mar 2025
03 Mar 2025 20:55:39
You may be right on Antonio, it will depend on his return, and Potters judgement, and above all what strikers are signed, and wether or not there’s a space for him

Selling Emerson makes total sense. We now have Scarles, and Cresswell can do a job as back up on reduced wages. We’ll probably get £25-30m for Emerson from an Italian club. On top of Kudus, Pacqueta, Aguerd and Mavro leaving that gives about another £100m. Total £130m. It’ll be upto Potter then to get players in. I do like Cellerer, Ramsdale, Johnstone as GK, yet Ariola and Fabs appear settled. So I’d save that money as well. All money can be spent on positions we badly need i.e Forwards.

Brooking, No question the idea is to part with Emerson, but he won’t fetch the figure you have posted, the others too soon to put realistic figure on them

30m for emerson, but only a 100m for paq, kudus, aguerd and mavro is crazy.
Kudus 85m release clause or he stays.
Paqueta was being lined up by City at 80m before the accusations. Don't think we can even factor him in until we get an outcome of his case which reportedly will be appealed.
Aguerd 20-30m been one of better cbs in la liga, if we were after him this summer how much would a la liga team want for him?
Mavro isn't a bad 3rd/4th choice cb definitely a player their if potter can help with the mistakes. No point in selling him cheap seen some suggest below 10m, silly we wouldn't get better for this price unless mcualey can find a gem at a bargain price.
As for Cresswell he's looked OK playing in a back 3 sitting deep. But I wouldn't trust him as a second choice lb/lwb. Potter historically has liked his fullbacks very high Cresswell just doesn't have the pace to get up and down.
I think he's good for the sqaud and helping scarles and with the amount of players going it's important to have players like that but relying on him as second choice lb is a big risk. Emerson might fetch a fee but we'd probably be looking at around 10-15m and imo that would need to be reinvested at Lb if he goes.
Most concerning is sullivan having even more input when he's the one that's overseen us waste an absolute fortune over the past decade.

£85 million for Kudus, after his performances this season, is a pipe dream. We’d be lucky to get half that now that Premiership teams have worked him out. Emerson is more like £10-15 million at very best. Everyone knows Aguerd doesn’t want to return to London, so his sale price will be a shadow of what we paid, and everyone also knows Mavropanos is prone to mistakes, so his value is nothing like the figure we paid.
19.) 05 Mar 2025

Why would we sell Kudus now when his stocks low makes no sense he's still got massive potential, don't think teams have figured him out at all when players can't get the ball off him, it's his end product that has let him down this season but a lot of chances have fell on his weaker foot as he has been played out of position for large parts of the season, he's another that looks better under Potter the goals will come again forced a good save against Leicester luckily soucek was there to follow up and agaisnt arsenal he was quality and a large part of why we got something that game defenders were bouncing off him.
Anyways never said we'd get the 85m but that's what we should ask, we won't get back into Europe selling our best players on the cheap and if he gets the form back of last season be a few that would look at paying his release clause.

His end product has let him down because he continually runs into a brick wall and loses the ball! This is because Premiership defences have worked him out and know how to deal with him now. That’s why his value has plummeted and I doubt will never recover to the level of last season. Yes, he’s a decent player, but I think we’ve already seen him at his best.
