in conversation with friends in France today - Marseilles fans - re the Batshuayi v Lacazette rumours. They all feel Batshuayi is potentially the better player but needs good coaching and disciplined environment to fulfill his potential (apparently bit of "lad" around the town) . Where as Lacazette more the finished article. So a case of stick or twist with these two. So its Batshuayi for me if Slav and DGS can pull it off.

lacazette all day long if that's the case payet is 29 and good now we need to do it next season and really push team spirit I'd great don't need a nob spoiling it . unfortunately both will go to CL teams anyway so dent ater.

Absolutely delighted with the appointment of Bilic. Feels like we have come out of "The Dark Ages" and into the "Renaissance"!Seriously though, am now really intrigued to see what players are brought in. DGS claiming now 5/6 players to strengthen the squad (which to be honest we need). Really like the look of Obiang and Ayew would be great on a free. Not a follower of Turkish football but any ideas on palyers who might follow Slaven to Upton Park? Already noticed Demba Ba passing on his love to Bilic!!!

Think Pato would be a great fit! Still only 25 but seems to have been around for ages.Never truely lived up to potential due to injuries but better than some names being baned about recently! Would he hack it in the Premiership? I'd certainly take a punt (if the price were ok).

Couldn't agree more Si1966. Got to remember BFS left us with a pretty demotivated squad at the end of last season - 3 wins in the last 19 says it all. We all know a lot of last years squad are either past it or not good enough to take us forward. A lot of us (including myself) where calling for a fresh approach and well, we have got it. Bilic is still not only developing his style but also learning about life in the Premiership!He will make mistakes (as with yesterday)and let's be honest it was an atrocious first half performance. Three games in is far too early to start getting depressed. remember this is West Ham!!!

Sorry Hammer689 but I really think things need moving forward without BFS at the helm. Injuries apart I still think his limitations are there for all to see. I just feel that if, as the owners continually tell us, we are aiming to be a "top" premiership club, we need a manger with a little more imagination. Nothing against Sam personally and he has done a good job for us in terms of promotion and stabilising the team. However that for me is the issue. We seem to be stagnating at the moment. Really dissapointed we started 4-5-1 yesterday against Sunderland (probably the dullest game of the season until the last 2 mins!). I have to ask what benefit would there be in giving Sam another year?
