Jonathan I am seeing we were talking to his agent in Jan, he likes the hammers apparently and there could be a summer move. Don't know how much of this is true but would you take him?

steveniron

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure West Ham has been talking to his agent. Inter are happy to let Jonathan Biabiany move on and his agent has permission to talk with other clubs. A discussion with Milan came to nothing and January approaches from Palermo and Cheslea regarding a loan would not have given Inter time to bring in a replacement. The player has said he would like to join a club where he would be a regular starter and has said he would like the opportunity to play in a different country - specifically saying he likes West Ham and PSV Eindhoven. Whilst a loan earlier in January would have been possible - a summer sale is more likely but clubs will be wary of his significant health issues and that may cause clubs to shy away.}

Sad story, terrible luck on the lad .

12 Feb 2016 16:11:59
Ed's or other posters, do we have any information about Payets actual contract/ clauses/ bonus schemes? I don't believe his basic is 125k p/ w. any light would be appreciated :)

steveniron

{Ed001's Note - sorry nothing.}

1.) 12 Feb 2016 18:55:00
Steve I read somewhere his basics is 87k with appearance bonus of 25k and other bonuses could take it to 125k.

2.) 12 Feb 2016 23:48:05
I believe the 125 is the media just not doing their mates properly. They appear to have taken the million sign on fee and divided it by 52 as though it's salary. It's a one off.

3.) 28 Feb 2016 17:08:27
115k a week with clause to be highest paid.

09 Feb 2016 09:58:34
Official statement just released on the West Ham website stating that Payet and his agent have not demanded excessive wages, but at the same time due to his impact, talks of an improved contract are progressing well. Payet won't be going anywhere guys don't worry!

steveniron

1.) 09 Feb 2016 10:43:37
EXCELLENT! That's good news.

2.) 09 Feb 2016 10:47:48
Personally I don't care what newspapers report, they always print provocative news in order to get people to buy their paper.

Assuming we do offer Payet an increase, I hope we insert a buy-out clause of £30 million. lol.

3.) 09 Feb 2016 11:00:20
payet has also taken to twitter to say he doesn't want to leave and his future is at west ham.

4.) 09 Feb 2016 15:09:32
Insert a 40mill buy out clause. But 38 mill would give us a hefty chunk for the summer and put on top what we would have aswell could buy striker tore and a couple others be well happy.

17 Dec 2015 13:10:20
Hearing a couple of strikers are available for loan in Jan. Remy and Naismith to name a couple. Anybody know of any truth in this as I would expect us to pounce at a half season loan of a goalscorer like these! Especially if we have overspent in the summer and will end up making a huge loss this year.

steveniron

{Ed001's Note - I don't know about Remy directly, but clubs in France have commented that he is available and they are trying to sign him. I do know for sure, rather than via secondhand info, that Naismith is looking for a move that will ensure him regular first team football. He knows he is not really Martinez's type of player.}

1.) 17 Dec 2015 15:11:27
Thanks Ed, Naismith would be a great addition to the strike force temporarily, I think its a very smart move trying for him on loan in Jan. Will bag at least a couple of match winners for sure! The AC can be utilised as that all important impact sub that he has proven to be

2.) 17 Dec 2015 16:13:46
We already have out quota of loan players 2 and you can only loan one player from one club we have Moses.
With mourino being sacked any new manager will want to have look at the team before letting anyone go.
Plus we need to shift players because we are on the threshold of the ffp wage limit if we wish to recruit any buys would have to be funded by sales.
Selling either obrien or Collins in the Jan transfer window would free up wages but would bring in very little inregards to transfer fees and it may well leave us short of cover.
I would look to cash in on Andy Carroll 8-10 mill and one of the dm either noble or obiang 6-8 mill plus wages saves.

3.) 17 Dec 2015 20:58:50
In reality we have no money available and no available loan spots. Even if we sell Collins and JOB we won't have funds required for the people we are talking about. We need to work with the guys we've got - and they have what it takes thanks to our fantastic off season transfers.

4.) 18 Dec 2015 09:21:26
Definitely need to loan a striker in Jan there is no doubt about it. All our goal scorers are injured and if they get injured again (all it takes is a couple of horrible challenges), we will be in the same slip slide position as the past month or so. Mark my words we will struggle to get top 10 without another goalscorer and that's not good enough

21 Sep 2015 10:50:18
The whole Carroll situation can be utilised very well if thinking logically. We have a good setup now that allows us to go and try to score the first goal with chances of a 2nd/3rd in any game as already proven. So where does Carroll fit in? Well i'd say forget his attacking ability for a minute, what happens when we are 1-0 up against a very capable opponent in the final 15-20 mins of a match. Corners, free kicks etc could all be delt with by Carroll. He could even man mark the Lukaku, Gomis, Bony, Giroud type players no problem, making his defensive contribution priceless to the team in a typical 1-0 scenario. Hold up play is also very good and a fresh AC towards the end of a premier league game is any defenders nightmare. This is how I think he should be utilised this season, not to mention it would reduce the risk of him injuring himself again

steveniron

1.) 21 Sep 2015 11:57:43
While you cannot disagree with any of that, and all those facts are well known and appreciated by SB, you have to consider the main fact which is CAROLL himself probably won't see it like that in the LONG term! and as I have already said. It remains to be seen as to wether he is happy to come on and play for 30 minutes, when he is fully fit, or will he be unhappy not being guaranteed a place when fully fit , IF he can be used in that way great, BUT that may NOT BE the way the player sees it, he is agreat option as we all know and appreciate, but the player himself may not see himself as an OPTION. Think you get my thrust! Regards IRONMIKE

2.) 21 Sep 2015 16:12:10
If he doesn't accept how he is merely a small part of the bigger picture now, do you think we would be able to recoup any of the fee we paid for him Mike? I'm sure another premier league team would snap him up for a few million if his heart isn't set on being a super sub

3.) 21 Sep 2015 17:52:18
It's a difficult call this one steven, WH are looking for pace up front, where does Carroll fit in , At this time he won't expect to be first choice, But he will want to play soon for sure, if we get more injuries up front ( hope not! ) he will come in , but then it means a style change , so whilst your earlier post outlines all the positives he can bring, to the squad, will the player be happy with that! IF WE KEEP playing well with this system , and with Valencia due back in six weeks time! Carroll is going to be a bench warmer , that's how it is , I think it's all in the mind of the player and how he feels about it all, HE WILL get the oppurtunities for sure, because that's how things pan out, but wether or not he impresses we shall see, it's a nice problem to have, which makes refreshing change, it's too early too talk about transfers etc, IRONMIKE

4.) 21 Sep 2015 20:47:55
Ironmike you seem to insinuate that Carroll is slow, have you seen the opta stats from 2012 -2013 – Theo Walcott clocked at 22.72mph
Andy Carroll clocked at 22.24mph.

I wouldn't call Walcott slow would you?
Sorry don't agree that it would mean a style change as you put it, Carroll's hold up play is better than Sakho's, he is a better header of the ball and is pretty good on the deck, maybe not as good as Sakho but good enough to adapt.
I also believe that if he stays fit his strike rate game for game would be better than Sakho's, but what a great position to be in being able to choose between 2 strikers who would both probably get into most teams in the prem.

5.) 21 Sep 2015 21:38:00
I never said Carroll was slow, although he does give that impression sometimes!, I just don't think it's his style to run away with the ball like moses sakho and payet etc, He's a great option all would agree with that, BUT I'm saying that he may not be happy being anything other than first choice striker if he's fully fit, time will tell the story here, but for time being he knows he has to fight for his place which is great news for us, You are obviously under the assumption he will adapt his game quickly, I am not so sure, but whatever he will get his chances, and let's see how he performs, IF we play the oresent style of counter attack. , we will find out soon enough! Regards IRONMIKE

6.) 22 Sep 2015 11:08:16
I think we miss a point here, we are all talking about playing the way we currently play, counter stacking football. Sooner rather than later teams will find a way to stop us. Carroll gives us options to play a different style, a different formation. Makes us as a team unpredictable. Also we will need to rest players or deal with specific injuries. So I think we will see Carroll used in various systems and at various times. Sometimes as an impact sub other times in a 4-4-2 from the start. Played this way he may last longer than a few games without injury and be happy and accept this role!

7.) 22 Sep 2015 17:59:29
I agree, we should see tonight how Carroll and players from the rest of the squad adapt, and as you say we need different tactics / formations for different opponents.

One for the legal heads out there (or Eds), say payet isn't sold by the end of the window and we have him until the summer, would we be able to select him to play (obviously on the bench), provide evidence that he has refused to play and subsequently fine him each week until he admits defeat and warms that nice seat on the touchline for a few more months while training with the kids?

steveniron

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not possible.

19 Sep 2016 13:09:06
Its not rocket science, the problem at west ham is not the players but the manager and his tactics/ choices, we have a team the same as last season bar 3 players. These 3 players are Noredveit, Musauku and Zaza. So how does bilic solve these underperforming players? Sticks one at RB where he cannot play (cant even perform properly in his natural position) . One can't play up top on his own, so if we continue to play him, he must have a strike partner (which I don't think is feasible at west ham given the number of players in midfield/ wing) . The last is naturally a LB but clearly gives no defensive contribution to the game as shown at the weekend and more importantly against Chelsea where Willian had him twisted up like a pretzel. My advice would be to put the world class, multi title winning, experienced RB we went and signed in his natural position. Arbeloa will give added defensive contributions at RB unlike Byram/ Noredveit/ Antonio. Secondly Musuaku must be told to play as a LB and not a LWB. He provides nothing exciting going forward, leave that to Payet. Thirdly and finally Zaza has to play with someone running off him otherwise he will be bullied by two CB's like he was all game Saturday. The number 10 role whoever it is on the pitch must play higher with the striker when going forward. I really hope Bilic gets it right this weekend because i'm embarrassed to be quite honest and another loss on Sunday and i'm afraid its panic stations to avoid a dogfight. Anyone who isn't worried if we lose on Sunday needs to get real.

1.) 19 Sep 2016 15:08:08
Tough game Sunday against Southampton and Charlie Austin who we could have had. I really like SLAVEN Bilic, but I fear that the needs of the club come first and if we don't pick points up in the next four or 5 games and things don't change he could be in trouble as per Hughes at Stoke! We could be nice about it and keep him on but if we keep losing and at Christmas find ourselves adrift of the rest it may be to late to pull the plug.
January transfer window we have got to find a flippin striker who can play up front on his own and is HUNGRY for success. Plenty are out there close to home, just look at how the likes of Austin, Rodriguez, Deeney have made the transition! And WE MUST Strengthen the defence with quality. AGAIN, there are some great defenders in the championship without going abroad.

"West Ham United are ready to lure Crystal Palace star Yohan Cabaye to the club by offering Michail Antonio plus cash, according to the Brentwood Gazette"

Can someone please sack the Brentwood Gazette sports journalist, or better yet, send them into liquidation!

I know the whole team did a fantastic job last night, but can we just take a minute to appreciate Darren Randolph. What a great performance that no doubt kept us in the tie until we took the winner at the end.

I cannot see Mandzukic or Dzeko or anyone remotely like those players joining West Ham and even still, look at the players they have feeding them. We have an underperforming Noble, Cresswell, Ayew and Snodgrass. Along side a hot and cold Lanzini and no RB to hit the wings. The problem at our club doesn't sit with the striker situation alone I can tell you that for free.

He will be going to Marseille if he leaves. This has kind of been confirmed by the meets between our chiefs and theirs. Also i'm sure one of the Eds have mentioned several times its Marseille that's certainly the destination. there's no point wasting breath over united, chelsea or arsenal I wouldn't have thought

Well he has refused a new deal at Hull hasn't he. I would guess at between 8-10m would make Hull do business as they will end up losing him for free otherwise

West Ham love a cheap option, so get rid, take what we can get for him, sign Jenko 4-5m and Snodgrass to replace payet until the summer 8-10m. job done, move on. You watch how much better we play with payet gone, we can start playing with 11 men again. Thanks while it lasted but poor attitude Dimitri, au revoir

442 made us so much more comfortable in the middle against Liverpool, even though we reverted back later in the game. I think we have to play 442 again with kouyate/ obiang in front of the back 4, payet noble lanzini and then AC and Antonio up top. The way Antonio was losing his markers at the weekend was great. Him and AC together up top sounds dangerous to me! Having him and Kouyate on the pitch means we can easily convert the formation once we are (hopefully) 2-0 up. COYI.
