Sanchez? Must surely be a wind up lol.

hammerdave

1.) 10 Apr 2020 08:15:25
HammerD, I just really hope so👎👎hate to see another greedy one on the payroll getting injured ☹️🤭he still has 2 years left on his Man U contract apparently so can’t see him relinquishing that deal hopefully! That would blow DM’s previous quote of “signing younger players” out of the water! ⚒⚒⚒.

2.) 10 Apr 2020 10:33:05
I wouldn't be surprised as:
1 - he's past 30
2 - he's past it
3 - he's on astronomical wages
4 - he's injured

I really do hope it's just papertalk. but if true, then our clubs even worse than I first thought.

3.) 10 Apr 2020 17:39:09
Apparently we still owe £70m in transfer fees?

4.) 11 Apr 2020 21:19:07
70 million is nothing, hardly any transfers are paid upfront but paid over time!
Relating to Andersen going to Napoli then I would not mind the transfer as long as we get a decent price and it’s used wisely, great player on his day but to far and between, does not look interested in putting a shift in.

5.) 12 Apr 2020 15:30:00
Bobby, personally I would prefer none of these so-called Marquee signings from overseas with no Premiership experience! Think a lot are bounty hunters? Give me the good old fashioned Players that put in a good shift, not posers that we seem to sign on astronomical egoistical wages! Of course there are the loads of exceptions, but they always seem to be signed by other clubs? Anderson, Haller, Yarmelenko, Wilshere, Roberto, can only think of these at the time of my Sunday pre meal drink👍Give me the grafters every time, we know who they are, less skill yes but endless effort! ⚒⚒⚒.

6.) 13 Apr 2020 19:26:55
Totally agree, team of 11 grafters would always finish higher than the luxury players.

We all know that West Ham fans love a player who works and tries his socks off (Di Canio, tevez, Noble, ) just to mention a few.

I think majority of fans can handle a relegation if the players have tried, when we see the effort non existent then that’s when fans turn against players.

7.) 15 Apr 2020 11:41:42
I wonder if the time has come for us to buy British players. When we buy foreign they generally let us down, a few have worked, but MANY have not.

When we did well in the 80s it was with with homegrown players. Are we a club that suits this way?

8.) 17 Apr 2020 23:24:10
Mark let’s not look too much through rose tinted glasses. We started the 80s in the second division and by the end of the 80s we were going back down. We had one great season finishing third a couple of top half finishes and the rest were fighting relegation. Besides the PL is a different proposition to the old Division 1. We need some skill, some creative players, we just need to get the right ones, something the club has not done well.

30 Jul 2019 18:48:15
Ed. any news on any potential signings? Or any talks or even rumours? Not much happening at the moment. or are we done with the transfers?

hammerdave

{Ed002's Note - Nothing new dave but I am travelling and busy right now.}

1.) 31 Jul 2019 09:03:19
Ed a defensive midfielder with a physical presence is definitely needed a injury to Rice would put us in massive trouble.

{Ed002's Note - back up will not be the first priority.}

2.) 31 Jul 2019 19:26:01
Ed I mean a defensive midfielder to start with Rice or we are going to get over run Rice needs help big time I really hope we have some money left to get some one.

3.) 31 Jul 2019 21:32:40
Times running out. I hope we sign someone soon. but looks unlikely.

4.) 01 Aug 2019 11:41:48
Based on preseason, I get the impression Pellegrini is looking at playing 4-1-4-1 this season

Yesterday Rice put in a monumental shift for 60 odd minutes, didn’t play bad, but he was over run.

I think playing Wilshere, Lanzini, Fornals and Anderson in front of Rice is going to give us plenty of attacking threat, but seriously lacking defensively.

Just my opinion though.

5.) 01 Aug 2019 13:39:34
I agree DIE 4, I love the technical play those 4 can do when we have the ball, but when they lose it Rice is our only shield, and can get overrun. I like JW a lot, but I still don't think he is a deep lying playmaker, or a traditional CM. Like Fornals, he plays best in the transition area behind the opposition midfield line and behind a striker, occasionally coming BACK to collect the ball, rather than starting off deep.
Of the players in our squad, i'd play Snodgrass alongside Dec, or Noble. Snods is far more aggressive in the centre than Jack, and will be better at supporting Dec in breaking up opposition attacks. I know it's not Snods' natural position, but he has all the attributes to play there, and we have plenty of wingers with pace where he usually plays. Nobes is also good, but just lacks the legs for me, and Dec also isn't the quickest.
I have to put in a word for Sanchez, as I have previously said that he was not good enough or risky backup at DM. But yesterday I thought he looked very capable in the DM role. I just hope he can stay fit this season.

25 May 2019 09:57:08
Ed. please tell me the rumours about llorente aren't true? Surely got to be looking at younger players?

hammerdave

{Ed002's Note - If you mean Fernando Llorenti I am not aware of any approach to Spurs.}

1.) 25 May 2019 10:47:58
General feeling was I thought that no business would be likely between the clubs due to past remarks made . unless a kiss and make up session is held with members of the two boards.

2.) 25 May 2019 13:24:27
Thanks ed. let's hope it stays that way.

3.) 25 May 2019 14:32:14
He's out of contract this summer so the no business between the clubs thing is moot. 35 in February, 1 goal in 20 PL games last season really should say it all, besides it's a Sun story so surely it's all made up.

4.) 25 May 2019 17:54:47
Hope so bill.

22 Mar 2019 06:14:23
It's clear we need a left back. What about that teirny from celtic?

hammerdave

1.) 22 Mar 2019 21:48:19
I'm always a bit suss about players from the SPL who shine in a league about equivalent to League One. Besides, a figure of £25M is being banded about. That's Ben Chillwell money and I know who I'd rather we spend that kind of cash on.

2.) 22 Mar 2019 22:55:39
True. But established players like chillwell go to man city. I think Tierney would be decent. Would be someone I'd get in. Got to be better than what we have surely.

3.) 23 Mar 2019 19:54:13
Your point is valid but I'm still struggling in all honesty.

Didn't we sign a "destined for great things" Scottish left back in the shape of Stephen Hendrie? That worked out really well for us. Not! He's part of my reluctance to sign Scottish players - especially ones being talked up by their club.

For every Andrew Robertson (who we sniffed around but didn't go for) There's a Stephen Kingsley. £25M is a lot to splash to find out we've bought the latter rather than the former.

I'd rather we looked at someone like Jamal Lewis who I think can easily make the step up and at around £4m looks a bargain.

4.) 24 Mar 2019 06:36:50
Yea get that mate. Spl is a dodgey league. There are some absolute gems in the lower leagues at a fraction of the price. We just need to find them lol.

5.) 24 Mar 2019 18:11:55
He plays for Celtic, not Hamilton like Hendrie who was a prospect. He's wanted by Arsenal and Man Utd, so won't be coming to us.

6.) 26 Mar 2019 20:52:25
hes a Celtic fan through and through aswell must be loving life playing for a club you support decent money and european footy every year.

02 Aug 2018 09:30:38
So. I see we have had a 20 mil offer for Maia accepted? Is this the case Mike? Also, are we really after the 4portugeuse players?

hammerdave

1.) 02 Aug 2018 09:49:40
Yes. IRONMIKE.

2.) 02 Aug 2018 10:52:51
Is obiang still going Mike?

3.) 02 Aug 2018 11:02:38
Didn't think I'd ever say this but. well done dgs. If we get these 5 more players must be looking at close to 200 mil right?

4.) 02 Aug 2018 11:54:51
Maia is ON the Forward most wanted is Gomez however talks still ensue with Marega Brahimi Joao Mario Laxalt we have made bid for Joao Felix you must all appreciate it changes all the time so we shall see, OBIANG can still leave AFTER the window closes if he His to Sampadoria we are desperate to get rid of Oxford. IRONMIKE.

5.) 02 Aug 2018 12:21:56
Maia must be the priority. Another goal-scorer would be great, but we must toughen up our defensive mid to release Wilshere and Noble’s creativity.

6.) 02 Aug 2018 14:41:00
Yes that’s the idea. IRONMIKE.

19 Mar 2020 20:18:23
So. as it's unusually quite, if you could decide summer transfer plans. who would you want to buy realistically and who would you sell?

For me I'd go for benrahma and Watkins from Brentford and bring back diangana.

Id like a new centre mid, a LB and possibly a new CB.

Probanly unrealistic I know.

hammerdave

1.) 20 Mar 2020 13:50:35
Hiya Dave good to hear from someone

Personally think that transfers are going to be quiet this summer and if and when football gets going again think we might see some of the youngsters coming to the fore

Both Diangana and Cullen have had good seasons and Holland has been doing well since he went on loan to Oxford

Add the 2 young fullbacks Ngaki and Johnson who can play both sides as fullbacks think we have Chances

Great fan of Ollie Watkins though and could see him and Bowen being good pairing.

2.) 20 Mar 2020 17:16:07
Agreed. Will be very quite. Some very good players in the champ. would like us to find another bowen.

3.) 21 Mar 2020 07:15:08
I would sell Roberto, Reid, Balbuena, Sanchez, Wilshire, Yarmolenko, Ajeti or as many as we can get money for. I would look for a striker as a foil for Haller, another CB and if possible LB and RB. If we got another LB then I would let Masuaku go too.

4.) 21 Mar 2020 22:51:22
I would let noble go if we survive, his legs are gone and not premier league standard anymore, if we go down then he may do a job in championship.

My list in full:
Noble ( free transfer, let him make a few quid)
Yarmalenko ( £10 million as he’s a lazy player)
Zabaleta
Roberto
Masuaku
Balbuena ( £4 million)
Diop ( if good offer comes in, don’t rate him) ( £45 million)
Lanzini ( think formals is our future) (£20 million)

We need

Soucek to sign on.
A striker
A decent centre back

I like Diop but he goes walkabout far too often and dives in all over the place.

5.) 22 Mar 2020 10:32:07
Agree on Diop but I think he has improvement in him. He has been partly, or fully, responsible for a lot of the goals against this season and I think he is all over the place at times. But he has ability to be a top centre back and a good manager will make him that.

6.) 22 Mar 2020 11:55:27
I agree he can improve but we need it now, in 2-3 years is not good for us, in a top 6 side they can afford to wait and unfortunately we are not, ogbonna has been by far our best defender and they were going to let him go last year and thank god he stayed.
If Soucek stays then I think the back four will have better protection which will help, with fornals and rice that is a good base for midfield, Andersen and Antonio/ snodgrass down flanks and Bowen/ haller up top, stay up and it looks promising for next year and then we can judge how moyes does.

7.) 23 Mar 2020 23:31:34
I agree with you Bobby. Ogbonna is comfortably HOTY.

8.) 25 Mar 2020 01:31:11
Theres one player i really rate and that's Harvey BARNES what a talent, And if we could get him on loan is FODEN who i think will become the top 5 players in the world yes that guy has everything and what teachers he has in DE BRUYNE, D SILVA, B SILVA, MAHREZ, STERLING also i like the L/ B at NORWICH young lad forgot his name but somebody fill me in please. COYI.

9.) 26 Mar 2020 07:26:11
Max Aaron’s.

10.) 26 Mar 2020 07:33:31
I do not think Harvey Barnes will come to West Ham, isn’t he in Leicester starting 11?
If it is the same one then I cannot see why he would leave Leicester to come to West Ham, I have been impressed with Leicester this year and with a couple more players I think they will continue to be successful. Fair play to Brendan Rodgers as he’s done a great job.
We do have a lot of promise in the ranks but I think we need to give them chances earlier as we either lose them or their confidence gets destroyed, self doubt creeps in and they lose focus.
I personally have been saying I would rather see youngsters given a chance than some of our lazy performers! Andersen, yarmalenko are great players but only put a 50-60 minute shift in and look as though they are not trying. It’s a shame as andersen is a class act on his day. COYI.

11.) 26 Mar 2020 20:54:34
Hiya bobby thanks for the max aarons topic, on BARNES your bang on he's played 27 games 7 as sub so you could say he's very much in the first elevenish i can't see how a cheeky bid would hurt and AARONS is going to be very getable and i think we need 4 players in and we would have a decent squad with outgoings. COYI.

12.) 26 Mar 2020 22:34:15
Aarons will be very getable come the summer unless the season is cancelled and Norwich stay up!

What is the opinion on seasons end?

I personally think it will be cancelled, would like to see the two come up and 5 down next season.
I think this virus is going to be another 5-6 weeks so to play the games you are realistically looking at starting mid June, do not see how this can possibly work as teams get new players in and sorting out players contracts.

13.) 27 Mar 2020 11:36:16
I rate Harvey Barnes as well, but why oh why would he come to us, why would anyone of them leave such a small successful club unless they were chasing ££££, more chance of winning the lottery😂Leicester have been a great side for a number of years now, I love watching them, probably my favourite team to watch especially after I won £2,200 on my bet for them to win the Premiership a few years ago, I was amongst the few who really thought with a bit of luck they could do it and well worth the £20 I put on in the November at 110/ 1 they were by far the best team in my view at the time! ⚒⚒⚒⚒.

14.) 27 Mar 2020 18:20:39
You answered my question chelms money as I'm pretty sure we would offer him more than he gets at Leicester IMO . COYI.

15.) 28 Mar 2020 02:30:47
Bobby I agree the season won’t be finished, but I think your 5-6 weeks is optimistic. I read we either need a cure or up to 80% or so to be immune which means they need to have gotten it. While I am not believing everything I read, and especially not at the moment, not many have talked about what it takes to get back to some level of normality and that seems about right. So I would think months rather than weeks (I hope I’m wrong) . But in terms of football, I can’t see them back on the park before next season.

16.) 30 Mar 2020 20:53:16
Norwich lb is lewis.

17.) 31 Mar 2020 16:54:06
That's the player I was thinking of I thought Aaron's wasn't the player I thought although he's decentbut LEWIS is going to be a very good player. COYI.

10 Aug 2019 12:56:43
Highlights how we need a decent lb!

hammerdave

{Ed001's Note - and a decent midfielder to replace Wilshere. He is abysmal and your attacks constantly break down at his feet and he is caught out on every attack. When you are getting David Silva doing you for pace then you know you have a problem!}

1.) 10 Aug 2019 13:18:35
I can run faster than wheelchair.

2.) 10 Aug 2019 13:26:12
Wilshere constantly drew fouls and looked comfortable but yeah leaves a lot of the defending for rice.

Still no complaints for me close game can argue mausuaku would have got closer but cresswell was poor there but not many as fast as Walker.

{Ed001's Note - he also messed up every attack he got involved in and he draws fouls because he is mentally deficient and too slow to move the ball on.}

3.) 10 Aug 2019 13:28:50
He really is. Is it just me or does it seem like he can't control the ball? I know city pressure well but he just loses it all the time. Why is fornals not playing? Hope to see him come up. might show a bit more quality.

4.) 10 Aug 2019 14:15:30
I’ve heard him described as the most talented Englishman - it must be just me but I think he is too slow, not a lot of ability with his first touch, needs the game to be played in slow motion.

Still going to have another season of losing games we could win due to of our inability to defend.

{Ed001's Note - was it his mother who described him that way?!?}

5.) 10 Aug 2019 14:49:28
Harsh on wilshere he will help us dominate teams in possession very hard to play against city.

6.) 10 Aug 2019 18:33:22
I don't know about you guys but thought we actually missed Noble today Wiltshire poor passing and whilst Anderson was good on the ball still losing it and going down blind alleys

7.) 10 Aug 2019 23:41:00
No mercerl the outcome would have been worse with NOBLE his lack of pace will get found out now he's a year older he's okay on the ball but tracking back and closing down opponents space he can't get there quick enough and that's when qulaity sides punish you. COYI.

08 Aug 2019 17:27:59
Carroll gone to Newcastle. I hope they've invested in a good medical team .

hammerdave

1.) 08 Aug 2019 18:26:23

Where's the raver now with his witty comments?

hammerdave

1.) 27 Apr 2019 15:13:06
Fair play dave you fully deserved the win, I knew you would raise your game for spurs as we never have easy games against you lot, I've said for years West ham are only a few players off from challenging the top 4 on a regular basis, the raver gives It large but is always a fair fan in defeats and says how it is mate.

2.) 27 Apr 2019 15:31:32
Fair play to you too Raver.

3.) 28 Apr 2019 06:44:43
Haha thanks bud. Looks like you've done enough to get top 4 (pains me to say it lol)

Puts things into perspective the events of today. People moaning about stupid things when a young footballer has lost his life. Sometimes. in the grand scheme of things these disagreement s aren't worth it. these petty arguments just seem. well petty.

I like rice. But he's not worth what you're saying. Rice, at most, is worth 50mil in my opinion. and that's at a push. I would definitely take Gilmore plus a few bob if they really want rice. Gilmore looks amazing. Obviously still raw. Can't see Chelsea letting him go.

As much as I don't like dgs. it's harsh to say they won't spend. They e spent a lot of money. but whoever decides who to buy has decided to spend it on the wrong players.

I'd really like to see Gerrard. Lampard has done fantastic at Chelsea. young with fresh ideas. I'd feel Gerrard would be the same and also put a bit of heart back into our team. It would be good for him to. to get PL experience before being lined up for the Liverpool job when klopp eventually goes.

Just feel we are prioritising attackers when we needed to invest a bit in defense. All the best teams start being successful with a solid defense. Agree with Johnson . much better than cresswell.

Lol I was only kidding mate. I do agree. Good attacker who can put in a good cross. not a defender. Not too sure whether 3 at the back would be better with attacking full backs like masuaka. Think we will become too exposed down our left. We needed to invest there and also another strong cm would could dominate in the middle.
