Just seen there's a rumour about Billy Gilmore. Any news on this ed?

{Ed002's Note - No Dave. west Ham have made space for Lingard by signing Benrahma - there is no space for Gilmore on loan.}

1.) 29 Jan 2021 14:04:30
Unless they sign Dawson?

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

2.) 29 Jan 2021 14:19:14
Shame but thanks ed.

3.) 29 Jan 2021 20:15:19
Billy Gilmour would be a great replacement for Noble and could be very good cover for soucek and rice.

Don't think we would get an option to buy but a loan might pave the way for a future permanent transfer. He will get a lot more game time with us when we are in Europe next season.

4.) 29 Jan 2021 21:55:12
He’s the sort of player Tuchel might sell in the summer.

5.) 01 Feb 2021 21:26:04
I see man city have signed the Rochdale potential superstar.

27 Jan 2021 11:54:31
Has benhrama signed permanently?

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure that it has happenedyet, but may do soon.}

1.) 27 Jan 2021 14:54:37
C&H are now reporting that it is now done,

2.) 27 Jan 2021 15:51:03
Interesting that they chose the bigger spend on Benrahma instead of Dawson. I assume this early buy is to make space for Lingard on loan.

If Lingard signs, I can’t see us having the cash for the central striker we really need.

3.) 27 Jan 2021 16:11:41
Ive just read that Lingard is all for the move to West Ham. Also the father in law showed me a piece saying that Moyes/ the board were looking to use balbuana to get a young promising keeper, it was only a heading though so didn’t see the rest.
Ed is there any idea if Dawson is going to get a contract with us do you know?

{Ed002's Note - They must of recently had the conversation about sending Dawson back (expensive), signing Dawson (cheap) or signing Benrahma (future debt). If you had asked me at the start of the month I would have said the would bite the bullet and send Dawson back to Watford. The implication is now that he is playing regularly and everyone seems happy with him then it would make sense to take up the option and sign him at the end of the season. Financially it makes sense.}

4.) 27 Jan 2021 18:04:27
As it looks a done deal with Lingard on loan with the permanent signing of Benrahma, who makes way for him, Fornals?
Would have preferred we concentrate on help out for Antonio so hopefully that is in the oven as well? âš’âš’âš’âš’.

5.) 27 Jan 2021 19:08:06
I would have thought Dawson was the obvious one as he would be cheaper. But Benhrama we had to pay the money at some stage so maybe that was the logic, and leave the Dawson decision.

6.) 27 Jan 2021 19:56:35
Sdl, is it even a decision to sign Dawson so far, he’s been absolutely outstanding from the start? ⚒⚒⚒But odd decision given the finances involved, but Benrahma fee is in instalments as £21m due, so maybe next due season end at option date, whereas Dawson is one off being minimal, would be immediate? So that would pay for Lingard £3m loan fee, or am I 🥃🍺😂up? ⚒⚒⚒.

7.) 27 Jan 2021 20:47:10
Will Dawsons price go up now on the form he's in.

{Ed002's Note - It depends on the terms of the option that exists. Sometimes they are fixed, sometimes based on performance.}

8.) 30 Jan 2021 22:27:18
Thanx for clearing that up.

16 Oct 2020 17:05:16
I take it the deal didn't go through?

1.) 16 Oct 2020 17:25:09
Deal sheet submitted - new deadline 7pm. Hopefully it gets finalised.

2.) 16 Oct 2020 17:27:31
West Ham have put a deal sheet into the league and have until 7pm to come to an agreement?

10 Apr 2020 06:46:44
Sanchez? Must surely be a wind up lol.

1.) 10 Apr 2020 08:15:25
HammerD, I just really hope so👎👎hate to see another greedy one on the payroll getting injured ☹️🤭he still has 2 years left on his Man U contract apparently so can’t see him relinquishing that deal hopefully! That would blow DM’s previous quote of “signing younger players” out of the water! ⚒⚒⚒.

2.) 10 Apr 2020 10:33:05
I wouldn't be surprised as:
1 - he's past 30
2 - he's past it
3 - he's on astronomical wages
4 - he's injured

I really do hope it's just papertalk. but if true, then our clubs even worse than I first thought.

3.) 10 Apr 2020 17:39:09
Apparently we still owe £70m in transfer fees?

4.) 11 Apr 2020 21:19:07
70 million is nothing, hardly any transfers are paid upfront but paid over time!
Relating to Andersen going to Napoli then I would not mind the transfer as long as we get a decent price and it’s used wisely, great player on his day but to far and between, does not look interested in putting a shift in.

5.) 12 Apr 2020 15:30:00
Bobby, personally I would prefer none of these so-called Marquee signings from overseas with no Premiership experience! Think a lot are bounty hunters? Give me the good old fashioned Players that put in a good shift, not posers that we seem to sign on astronomical egoistical wages! Of course there are the loads of exceptions, but they always seem to be signed by other clubs? Anderson, Haller, Yarmelenko, Wilshere, Roberto, can only think of these at the time of my Sunday pre meal drink👍Give me the grafters every time, we know who they are, less skill yes but endless effort! ⚒⚒⚒.

6.) 13 Apr 2020 19:26:55
Totally agree, team of 11 grafters would always finish higher than the luxury players.

We all know that West Ham fans love a player who works and tries his socks off (Di Canio, tevez, Noble, ) just to mention a few.

I think majority of fans can handle a relegation if the players have tried, when we see the effort non existent then that’s when fans turn against players.

7.) 15 Apr 2020 11:41:42
I wonder if the time has come for us to buy British players. When we buy foreign they generally let us down, a few have worked, but MANY have not.

When we did well in the 80s it was with with homegrown players. Are we a club that suits this way?

8.) 17 Apr 2020 23:24:10
Mark let’s not look too much through rose tinted glasses. We started the 80s in the second division and by the end of the 80s we were going back down. We had one great season finishing third a couple of top half finishes and the rest were fighting relegation. Besides the PL is a different proposition to the old Division 1. We need some skill, some creative players, we just need to get the right ones, something the club has not done well.

30 Jul 2019 18:48:15
Ed. any news on any potential signings? Or any talks or even rumours? Not much happening at the moment. or are we done with the transfers?

{Ed002's Note - Nothing new dave but I am travelling and busy right now.}

1.) 31 Jul 2019 09:03:19
Ed a defensive midfielder with a physical presence is definitely needed a injury to Rice would put us in massive trouble.

{Ed002's Note - back up will not be the first priority.}

2.) 31 Jul 2019 19:26:01
Ed I mean a defensive midfielder to start with Rice or we are going to get over run Rice needs help big time I really hope we have some money left to get some one.

3.) 31 Jul 2019 21:32:40
Times running out. I hope we sign someone soon. but looks unlikely.

4.) 01 Aug 2019 11:41:48
Based on preseason, I get the impression Pellegrini is looking at playing 4-1-4-1 this season

Yesterday Rice put in a monumental shift for 60 odd minutes, didn’t play bad, but he was over run.

I think playing Wilshere, Lanzini, Fornals and Anderson in front of Rice is going to give us plenty of attacking threat, but seriously lacking defensively.

Just my opinion though.

5.) 01 Aug 2019 13:39:34
I agree DIE 4, I love the technical play those 4 can do when we have the ball, but when they lose it Rice is our only shield, and can get overrun. I like JW a lot, but I still don't think he is a deep lying playmaker, or a traditional CM. Like Fornals, he plays best in the transition area behind the opposition midfield line and behind a striker, occasionally coming BACK to collect the ball, rather than starting off deep.
Of the players in our squad, i'd play Snodgrass alongside Dec, or Noble. Snods is far more aggressive in the centre than Jack, and will be better at supporting Dec in breaking up opposition attacks. I know it's not Snods' natural position, but he has all the attributes to play there, and we have plenty of wingers with pace where he usually plays. Nobes is also good, but just lacks the legs for me, and Dec also isn't the quickest.
I have to put in a word for Sanchez, as I have previously said that he was not good enough or risky backup at DM. But yesterday I thought he looked very capable in the DM role. I just hope he can stay fit this season.

Top 6. Europe. Great season. Just 1 win and we would've been in CL place. Crazy.

03 Feb 2021 22:10:17
Maybe I was wrong about lingard. What a debut.

1.) 03 Feb 2021 22:48:29
Nothing wrong with being wrong when he starts that way. I think his biggest issue as described by others is his lack of hunger at times and he looked like he was trying to show what he could do, Moyes needs to keep that level of interest.

2.) 03 Feb 2021 22:55:56
Lingard will bring a win mentality and looks to have more time when on the ball, the end product is that much better.
I thought fredericks was excellent tonight and his speed is a big asset to help Coufal ( although he had grealish in his pocket all night)!
It’s a shame that 11 did not show last Sunday as it would of been a different game.

3.) 03 Feb 2021 23:25:02
We played proper football as a team. Moyse’s anti-Grealish strategy worked a treat.

4.) 04 Feb 2021 04:08:36
And I only heard grealish scream 4 times when a player tackles him I said tackle not foul he has to stop that as for me that's a form of cheating but I'm a hammer so let's just say every single player was awesome and what a player Benrahma is going to be, he needs a goal but assists for the first goal what a ball and in a nutshell well done DM but one thing please when we play one of the ton.

31 Jan 2021 11:45:13
I think Liverpool is for the taking today.

1.) 31 Jan 2021 18:15:27
They were, but I think we got it wrong today.

27 Jan 2021 22:20:03
I really don't want lingard. Has done nothing. i'd rather us just sign benhrama and Dawson permanently and then try and get a striker. If none come up, I'd rather wait. I don't see what lingard has to offer.

{Ed047's Note - nothing he is rubbish!

1.) 28 Jan 2021 07:11:29
Agreed ed. I've never liked him. No idea how he got into the England squad. I'm questioning why moyes likes him.

{Ed047's Note - hugely overrated which seems to happen to a lot of the youngsters that come through the United academy like Cleverley, Welbeck and plenty of others.

How, like you say, they ever got England caps is beyond me and Lingard is literally one of the worst.

2.) 28 Jan 2021 08:13:10
Very emphatic answer Ed047👍I wouldn’t have a clue now, so makes no difference to me either way, just have to trust DM but hope he’s not judging him from a number of years back? ⚒⚒⚒.

{Ed047's Note - just not a very good player at all and can’t see what he’d add to your squad to be honest

3.) 28 Jan 2021 10:52:52
In many ways I’m actually keener to get CM cover (Kral anyone? ) ahead of another striker.

I know all of the Antonio frailty arguments, but we have managed well this season in spite of his injuries. My real concern is what happens if either Rice, or Soucek can’t play.

I’ll happily take both a new CM and a new striker, but for me, the CM position is the priority.

4.) 28 Jan 2021 14:05:02
Spot on ed and marko. We definitely need another strong cm. Someone like soucet would be perfect.

25 Jan 2021 07:17:06
More noise about the celtic striker. what's your thoughts? For one, don't think he wants to join us. If he did however, he would obviously be using us as a stepping stone.

Wouldnt take him. He would want a huge wage and at 29, not someone I'd want. Would prefer eze or benhrama at a fraction of the cost.

Agreed. I think it will be rotated to keep players fresh. I'm really like benhrama, fornals and bowen combo but we will need to rotate them at some point.

I think we are cautious because of the haller experience. I think we are doing the right thing. We are safe, playing well. let's see where we finish and try and get the right player in.
