Does anyone have a clue what Rob Oldwoman has been doing? He is supposed to find players for dithering Dave, I thought that between the 2 of them they would have players lined up early on, but no this window is exactly the same as previous ones.

Whilst I understand what you are both saying about our scattergun approach but there is an air of difference this window compared to previous windows.
We are being linked to all and sundry because journalists know we need players and therefore link us to all and sundry.
We have signed our first choice left footed centre back and our first choice goalkeeper already this window. Admittedly, it might have taken longer than people anticipated, but both were on international duty and signed within a short period of being back.
We have a first choice striker target it would appear and that’s Armando Broja but Chelsea aren’t going to sell just because we are interested, especially now Lukaku has rejoined Inter Milan, they’re going to want to see what the lad can do in pre-season or at least sign a forward or two of their own before letting him go. Apparently they have bids in for Raphinha and Sterling, so it might not be all that long we have to wait.
I get the impression we have our preferred targets in mind, we’ve probably approached their respective clubs and we are prioritising those whilst still looking at other options if our preferred choice doesn’t work out.
Borja might not happen so we’re exploring the possibility of Danjuma from Villarreal instead. Perfect example.
Most of what you are reading or seeing online is journalists and news outlets and sports pages simply throwing names about because they’re a player West Ham MIGHT be interested in should they like to sign a player in a position.
What I don’t understand and I am struggling with this window is the lack of central midfielders we are looking at. We lost Noble and Kral at the end of the season and apparently we’re willing to sell Soucek. Which would leave us with Declan Rice as our only real central midfielder (Lanzini, Fornals and Vlasic are more attack minded).

I would like to see Moyes take a punt on Anthony Martial, he had a spanking season in 19/20 and scored 23 in 48 and 19 of them in the prem so has got what it takes, think he has just lost his way and he is only 26. What do other think.

It isn't only Coufal and Soucek. Cresswell, Fornals and especially Bowen have been dreadful. How these players are getting in the team in front of some of the new signings Moyes only knows. That is what is going wrong in my opinion, players are getting in the team on past merits rather than current form, exactly the same as Southgate with England players. Also as the great Albert Einstein said, the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, this sums up Moyes to a tee, as other teams have sussed out the way we play but we just play exactly the same ever game.

Please don't think I am having a go Mikes iron, far from it but your statement no wonder we are cautious doesn't ring true. Signing Vlasic for 30 mil, don't give him a chance and let him leave on loan with us paying most of his wages and a resale value of 15m is not being cautious its being stupid. Publicly blaming Benny and dragging him off when ever he makes a mistake so destroying his confidence and reducing his value by probably half is atrocious not cautious. Not giving the youngsters even a few minutes so they leave is not being cautious its down right stupid. Imagine being Okoflex and scoring 1 in 2 from the wing for U23's and not even given a few minutes, no wonder the kids are leaving, Oko will be next! Rant over.

I 100% agree Whorya48 it's more concern than anything else. Took us 2 years to get where we are and it could all collapse overnight without signings.

Anymore leave and we will be playing the kids. Usually clubs sign a replacement before departures but not WHU. we need about 6 or 7 players with 3 weeks or the window remaining. Apparently we were working on a deal for Onana for 3 months so how will we sign enough players in 3 weeks?

Why the board can't see what we see is beyond me. By the time DM goes and we appoint another manager we will probably be miles behind. Should have sacked him before WC. Not at all surprised by todays result. Dreadful team selection and performance, waiting for DM to come out and say it is all Benny's fault why we lost!

No Carlos Corberan for me as Oshee said been sacked from most of his jobs and 27% win rate prior to WBA. If we want to take a punt on a manager how about Franck Haise working wonders at Lens, 2nd in the league, beat PSG 3-1. uses lots of different formations unlike a certain Mr Moyes!

Thestigno 1 I have read your article and enjoyed it but are you sure you are talking about Rangers as it sounds very much like you are writing about West Ham. Despite poor results the Manager keeps playing the same formation, same players, players in the club that should have been moved on, players not playing for the jersey. That sums up David Moyes and some of the team to a tee.

Nice thoughts Oshee but I think in Jan they will give Moyes ten bob to spend plus what ever we get for Dawson. That is why this is all so stupid, out Moyes now and get new manager to work with players and line up their own signings for January.
