What an absolute joke we are (west ham) and don;t tell me to calm down. All the strikers we've been linked with and that we could have gotten good deals on and Sam sits in the rain last night to watch SHOLA AMEOBI! R U Having a laugh. we may aswell have kept Carlton Cole. What is this? Newcastle old boys re-union. We should never have bought Carroll no matter what you lot say. AGAIN it comes down to goals ratio and we NEED A STRIKER

West Ham are not a 'Joke' - So far Carroll and Downing are two top signings that will help us towards another top ten finish. Carroll should have definitely been bought in at 15m. great signing!

I agree against shola ameobi, he is dog s*** compared to what we could have brought in through the rumours of Quagriella, Cardozo, etc

We should not have kept Carlton Cole, he is the biggest, laziest waste of space in the premier league (well thank **** not anymore)

Yes we do need another striker to back Carroll because Maiga isn't good enough either. over the moon if we do. not the end of the world if we don't, still going to finish top half without an additional striker

Although I agree Carroll & Downing do improve our team we are way short of a top 10 finish, and barring the 3 teams that have just come up ( who will finish in the bottom 3) the whole league have changed it up. as per usual west ham have been left looking like utter mugs, I hope i'm wrong but this and the fact BFS won't play any other way but he's way (1 up front, Not playing R Morrison, R Rat, S Downing, from the start) means it will be a long hard season!

So where exactly does it say that BFS was specifically there to watch Ameobi? Even his agent says there has been no contact from West Ham, and I think he'd know a bit more than the well known rumour mill that is tv. As for you thinking that West Ham are a joke, I think you'll find you are mistaken, and if you really feel like that, go and find someone else to support.

Don't panic guys how many strikers have we been linked with an none have signed this is just another one on that list

How can you say we are short of a top ten finish? We made it last season and since then vastly improved the squad. Top ten again near enough guaranteed, especially if we bring in a 15-20 goal striker on loan before the window closes

Vastly improved the team. we have added Downing, R Rat. Now I know they make the team better but teams around us have done much better business. & you can't say we just need a 15-20 goal man WE ALL KNOW THAT!! He ain't there. YET!

Yes, vastly improved the team. and if we bring someone else in happy days. but please explain to every other west ham fan why west ham are 'an absolute joke' please

the negativity baffles me

Not a happy hammer after hearing Arsenal have approached Juventus for Fabio Quagrialella and seeing Sam Allardyce sitting in the rain at Morecambe apparently watching AMEOBI. Is this the s**** level of forward we are reduced to chasing

I love west ham and always will but that doesn't mean I love the board, the managers or the players. These are all short term and have a shelf life. As a supporter it's the club I support. The teams had some dark years recently what with them Icelandic persons, Avram Grant etc. Lazy, overpriced, overpaid players which lack skill and have inflated egos and jump at the first chance as soon as we're in a bit of bother. Not to mention the couple of stints in the championship. However as a west ham fan in the last couple if years things have been a bit rosier. Having KB and the two David's in seem to have done the club some good. They haven't got the money of your Chelsea's or your Man City's but they've got a few quid and seem to care about the club which is refreshing. Although I've got my reservations regarding the O. S the atmosphere at home games, distance from the pitch, financial details etc. Surely the pros out way the cons and this must be the best thing long term for the club. I mean, in the next few years we might realistically be talking about West Ham in Europe (Europa league) and finishing consistently around 7th/8th. The spuds are gona get a shiny new stadium in dye course and what with the Arsenal we would have been slipping further and further away. Once the stadium arrives, the money will come in, a top manager and some top players playing some exciting, attractive football. I'm not a big fan if BFS and I no I speak on behalf if many hammers including all friends and family but he will do a job for us for the next 3 years as he has done for the last 2. In the championship they're wasn't many better we could have appointed to take us back in the premiership at the first time if asking and consolidate us for a few years around the mid table. He's great when it comes to sports science and man management, our teams as they are now will generally be fit, big lumps, defensive minded, hard to break down with a never give up attitude. Unfortunately the guy lacks in strategy and tactical decisions, creative imagination, narrow minded, stubborn and stuck in his ways. Loves his old, experienced players who are disciplined, who he can drill to his defensive hoof cross style of play and can ultimately keep in check. However I think this will work for us for a little while until we get under the bright lights of the O. S, maybe then were get a young up and coming manager who supports youth, on the floor possession football, skill, flair, can adopt different formations etc. What I would say about this summers transfer window is that I haven't appreciated the way the club have gone about they're business. We seem to have been linked with everyone and unlike some other clubs who go about they're business a but more discreetly we are a bit of an open shop. We've had nearly 4 months to sell, loan players. It seems like we've got to the last week, realised we have to strengthen some areas by getting in another 3 or 4 players but can't until we get rid of some? So where was the action plan in may? Where was the forward thinking? I'll tell ya, there wasn't any, it was all about AC, everything after that is an after thought. There was a lot of fans which I spoke to in the last few months who were against spending a large chunk if our money on AC instead of investing it in the team. Personally I think he suits the way we play perfectly under BFS but was hoping with a bit of wheeling and dealing, chopping and changing we could improve the starting eleven in 3 or 4 More areas with not too much expence. Still waiting. 3 days and counting. let's hope we can still off 2/3 players and get in a couple if gems to improve the overall team otherwise the pressure on AC will be Hugh. If we don't pull off a couple more decent players I think the majority of fans will be demanding 20-25 goals from him seeing as the two David's have spent most if our budget on him. There's still a couple if decent loans to be had, here's hoping we get a decent stiker, maybe another midfielder and a CB. RVT, Taylor, Collison out, Ba, Flamini, Sane in. Something like that would be fantastic!

Nice change to read a well thought and well written post. Although I don't happen to agree with some of the points you make, your article is positive overall, and makes a pleasant change to some of the recent knee jerk rants. Look forward to the next chapter.
