Hi fellas, well things are a little confused to say the least, it seems that slimani wants to stay in lisbon,, and although we have chased hernandez, for some time now, spurs are very much in this with us, the confusion means do west ham go short or long? Do they look for short term answer, like berbatov, or a loan of some kind. Or keeping the bids on the table switch to austin perhaps sow, or choose new targets altogether, it's a very difficult descision, my guess is they will pursue hernandez, which is a reasonable chance, but try to get an insurance policy, with another loan, BUT if you look at all the possibles and probablles, spurs have to unload adebayor first not easy on his wages, Newcastle are involved with diego rolan, WBA have just bought. Bournemouth not on, so we might see a late switch to austin, complicated situation for sure IRONMIKE

Hi Mike
Do you think the Barton things has anything to do with Austin in any way? Get the nod for Austin if we take Barton off QPR's hands? Buy one get one free type of thing??

Doubt it, as Barton is a free agent.

Good Idea.!! NO because bartons a free agent, without legal connection to qpr anymore , so whatever happens to him has no recourse to qpr, sorry! Take some brownie points, for thinking outside the box! IRONMIKE

Nessy, was not Barton released at the end of last season making him a free agent?

First post from me, been an interested reader of Ironmikes posts for a while. Don't think Barton is attached to QPR in any way now so can't see how that would influence the signing of Austin. In my opinion we need to get out there and get a decent goal scorer, if we pay a little more that the going price then so be it, we won't win anything without a goal scorer and can't just rely on Sahko with his dodgy back.

Just thought I'd ask because in my opinion I cannot see any sense in the Barton signing unless there was some hidden motive? Sod going for someone who:
A - Won't get a game
B - Will get Boo'd more by the home fans than anyone else
C - Could disrupt the dressing room
D - is a twat.
We need a striker.!!!

Barton is a good option IMO.
He will take a wage cut to return to Premier League action, and will offer a stronger defensive option from the bench than say Mark Noble. Also (arguably) his passing is better than that of Noble.
Barton tied into a 1 year contract could be a good move. With regards to dressing room disruption, I honestly believe that he carried QPR last season.

It would stop Kevin Nolan coming to Match Days

As much as I don't like Barton,I would take him over Nolan and sorry to say Noble, and as said above if he comes in I can't see Nolan playing for us again.it's a win/win for me!!
