As much as I would like to agree with the optimism shown by some fans. Cardiff were poor last week. Nolan will get 12-15goals this year. but if we are going to rely on goal butscoring from Joe Cole. Jarvis. downing and maiga. we will be joining the rat race at the bottom of the league instead of lookin upwards. Carroll will get a few for sure. but any improvement in position takes goals. I've stated nothing that any fan dosnt realise. just very disappointed as the window draws to a close. that we havnt got a striker in yet. every other day another name comes up then the reasons why they can't be signed. West Ham United have had 3 offers for rvt leeds. middbro. notts for all around 1. 5 mark ditto taylor from the last two mentioned clubs. that alone would be enough of the wagebill. and enough for substantial deposit. against a few strikers the fans would like to see. I think this will be the deciding feature on ou season

We will continue to fight for a top ten finish without any more movement in the transfer window. The squad as it stands is more than strong enough for that. But by gaining another striker and possibly another centre back to be safe will almost GUARANTEE a top ten finish
If for whatever reason we struggle this season with a vast improvement on last seasons squad, then something is seriously going wrong

I don't think there will be a scrap for relegation because the three that came up are so poor I cannot see any of them winning or picking up a point I honestly beleive that this season will be lowest in terms of what teams need to stay up perhaps 20 points would be enough I really can't see Hull, Cardiff or palace getting many more points. if the saying "making up the numbers" was required its now

On palace you might be right but Cardiff and hull not frightened to spend a few quid. we have on paper a good squad. but this is like spoiling the ship for a halfpenny worh of tar. i'm sure you will all agree with that. maiga is NOT up to that job will cole Jarvis downing and noble get 25 goals between them. they will need to if Nolan and carroll get 12-15 each. we were low scorers last year. most of our away performances were very poor. and we finished 1oth yes but only 7 points off bottom 3. another 10 goal striker will I ASSURE you make the difference between a struggle and a good season!

Up at Newcastle at sandman hotel. Andy Carroll around town and in Starbucks and is ready for next week. Magpie fans are v nervous so I hope we are positive. Guy says it measures a quarter of a mile from away end up high to centre spot - not the same as the chicken run.

Its as strong as we like it but facing strong sides we will strugle abit we need a defender and a striker now otherwise we will finish 12-16th,

Ausie John

Is everyone now satisfied after this afternoons gameTHAT WE NEED A STRIKER. we could easily have won this game if we had someone up front. especially with Nolan missing quality chance. if you don't score you can't win games. and then we could have easily lost this at the end apart from woeful newcs finishing. when are the board getting someone in??

Agree totally,

ausie john

bfs on tv is happy with the squad and states he has to sell before he can recruit.
which is strange last season he needed 6 strikers competing for the loan striker role even if we sold vaz te taylor mccartney would only generate 3/4 million and sam says he ain't looking to move anyone on????
we need a result against the barcodes tomorrow its important to keep the teams winning confidence on a roll plus heap some pressure on pards and the geordies going to go with a win 3-1 to us maiga noble nolan

All we need to sign is samba and a striker maybe a midfielder

No need for another midfielder. noble, Nolan, Cole, Jarvis, Downing, Diame, Morrison, Collision, Ddiarra, Vaz Te who else do we need?

striker priority, then another solid centre back and we are in the runnings for a top ten finish again :)

ed when does the ffp rule come in to action?
i like many other hammers fans seem unsure david sullivan says we have hit our wage limit bfs says we don't have any funds to buy unless we sell.
now i'm not disputing what g/s have done for the club but one of the eds posted that ffp does not come force until next year and that west ham had taken it upon themselves to cap the wages early.
that maybe to reduce the debt sooner due to the o/s move.
seems to me west ham are setting the seen to move on a/some players that may prove unpopular with some fans don't claim to be itk.
ds did say in his interview there was cash available to buy but not wages so why have we not loaned out players to remove them from the payroll.
maybe its me but something does not seem right if maiga was to get injured we would effectively have no one up front {Ed001's Note - this season the rules come into force, the punishments are only coming in to play in the Championship this season though, except for clubs in Europe. The Prem rules restrict spending over a 3 year period, so it will be 3 years before a club could be in breach, as they could overspend for two, then drastically cut back in the third.}

I think we should have downing up front, he will be up there with top goalscorers of the season!
