So. Can we win the League? Or will like my dreams, fade and die?

Last season we were 4th at Xmas, played fantastic, perhaps the best match I ever saw Oct 2014 beat Man C 2-1, just like yesterday, funny enough. I don't know what went on in the dressing room after Xmas, but we were shocking after.

This season, I wonder if with Europa League early start, we will flag around March?

What does everyone think!

It's nothing to do with flagging, the game is all about what squad you have available when injuries and suspensions, and tiredness start to bite, The wh squad has markedly improved no question but we are still well short of the , two teams NECCESSARY to bring continued success, Take tomorrow nights cup game at Leicester for an example, , SB, is unlikely to play hendrie at Lb because at this time not thought good enough, meaning cresswell plays again no RB cover so Tomkins needed at RB, Collins in Reid has to play again, etc etc, Carroll will probably lplay , with Antonio, and zarate BUT WH are not yet in a position to have a complete change around , for these games, BUT it will come, it will take the next two windows, BUT it will come, IRONMIKE

Antonio can't play, cup tied, but there is a spare Team now, its also the players window to get noticed, here's my suggestion:

Randolph
O'Brien, Collins, Henry, Hendrie
Oxford, Amalfitano, Cullen, Samuelson
Carroll, Zarate

Maybe some 1st Team players on the bench. Perhaps Jelavic/Lee instead of Carroll in that list?

Obrien s injured anyway, but what's that team going to achieve , not very much I would think, With no disrespect I think you get the overall picture, regards IRONMIKE

I'm not gping to say I told you so but I did tell you so on the 18/09/15 that I fancied we might get something from the game and there were those that disagreed. Well, what a superb performance. Winston Reid was immense, Noble (who I've not been convinced with) is growing in confidence and Moses has been a breath of fresh air since his arrival. Payet and Lanzini are so good together in midfield and the back four look solid. My only criticism is for Jenkinson. Why do we not look as secure with him in the side as we do with TONKS. Finally, SB is doing an absolutely legendary job and he is so honest in his post match conferences. I MUST ask all if they REALLY think this would be how we would have been playing if BFS was still in charge and where would we be now???

It's early days, but we have the foundations of avery good squad, , Obviously Lanzini moses and jenkinson need to be bought next summer , Collins obrien will be replaced at contracts end , Jarvis and amalfitano sold, so more new faces will be brought in Which is again exciting, the square,peg in a round hole is Carroll who cannot play in this system he has no pace very useful to have on the bench, but the new system , puts a huge question mark on him, but we cannot ask for more, great tactics, great team spirit, , great work rate, we can all be very proud!! Which is fantastic in itself, IRONMIKE

Hi Ironmike, agree about Lanzini & Moses but believe there is better out there than Jenks and cheaper, actually think that Tomkins is better. Not sure I agree either that Carroll can't play in this system, he is better on the deck than people give him credit for. Yesterday Sakho's movement etc was good but his hold up play was very poor, something that can't be levelled at Carroll. Agree Carroll isn't as mobile as Sakho but he is better in other areas. In my opinion we could have done with Carroll last 20 mins or so to hold the ball up in their half to help stop the relentless pressure.
Be interesting to see how Carroll adapts if he gets a chance, it isn't his fault that BFS's tactics were to havee balls launched at him and England don't play hoofball and yet Carroll hasn't done too bad for his country.

Yes I personally agree about jenkinson, , but SB was very keen to have him for this season, he may not be so keen , when it gets down to the price arsenal may ask for him at seasons end!!Dambrosio would be my choice but there are several options ditto cb, if Tomkins is swapped over to Rb, Yes Carroll holds up well, and is agood alternative, BUT, he's not going to get a lot of game time, in this set up, and this is bound to be a problem as the weeks roll on, we will have to see how this pans out IRONMIKE

what a performance, could I really see us winning 3 games like that away under BFS? no, Slaven is humble and refreshingly honest he wasnt afraid to say we rode our luck & on times and he said like the Alamo, but the team seem to have spirit and a willingness to give their team mates their all, I never thought I would cheer so much when Jelovic was fouled to gain us some time and get the ball up the other end, Noble bleeds claret & blue surely he is going to get into the next England squad on these displays. magic coyi

{Ed001's Note - one thing that impressed me about Noble was that in the midst of the match he was still thinking. When Jenkinson was on the floor moaning about being hurt while the sub is waiting to come on for him, Noble was the one who realised that Jenkinson would have to go off after treatment and the sub would not be able to come straight on, meaning West Ham would be down to ten men. He ran straight over and dragged Jenkinson to his feet and told him to get off. Not many have the cool head in the middle of a last stand like that. I am not Noble's biggest fan, but that was a very good piece of captaincy.}
