On another note, has anybody received their season ticket yet? Nobody in my group has but it's getting close to the season opener now.

No matter what has been going on, he is genuine world class and will score more goals than anybody has done at West Ham for some years.

I won't hold my breathe but if he joins, I'll be delighted.

Are you sure about the wage number of £275m, seems very high. By comparison, Arsenal's equivalent cost for last year (all wages and salaries) was £192m.

This is getting ridiculous. What are we doing?

Tell Nolan that if he wants to stay, he rots away somewhere by himself and is not allowed near the team, ever. If that's how he wants to spend the twilight of his football career, it's a sad reflection on him.

As for these other players, we need to invest. How can Crystal Palace et al be spending more than us and signing players we should be able to sign. We are a more attractive proposition: we're going to a fantastic new stadium; we have a great coach; we're in Europe (sorry, scratch that one); we have a fantastic and passionate fanbase and we're in London, one of the greatest cities in the world.

We need to wake up and spend the money required. We've been burnt with some bad deals in the past but you can't be afraid of making the same mistake again, otherwise you'll end up with nobody!

Positive signs, thanks Mike.

I'd be happy if we got:

Halilović, Song, D'Ambrosio, Hernandez and Sow or Austin (and another reserve 'keeper);

And got rid of:

Nolan, Jarvis, O'Brien, Carroll and perhaps, sorry(!), Mark Noble.

On another contentious note, Maiga actually played pretty well against Astra last week - his touches were good, he held the ball up well and was full of energy and enthusiasm. He's the only one of the potentially outgoing crowd that has actually done something positive in pre-season. Anybody agree?

Agree about the challenge to persuade Manchester United to sell. Given that he scored the winning goal in the Champions League final, had a better goals per game ratio than Benzema while at Real Madrid, is fourth best in the all-time goals per game ratio for the Premier League and is the second highest goal scorer of all time for Mexico, I'd say El Chicharitto has proven his worth. And at 27, he is coming into his prime.

We were missing Lanzini, Antonio and Kouyate, and Noble is hopefully transitioning out of the first 11. Rice looks class and one for the near future. Chicharito demonstrated his quality, as expected, and will fill a massive hole up front.

I'm not worried about going forward, it's the defence that looked a little dodgy.

Man Utd will win the league and beat a lot of teams by more. I'm still very excited about this season!

If only! 😳

It looks like most of our transfer dealings this summer, lots of talk but not a lot delivered.

Nice try, Gerry. It would actually be something more like: "Dove sei, Simone Zaza? Perché non hai ancora firmato, porco dio?! "
