We need to focus on outgoing players too. We’ve only the next four days to ship anyone out to other PL sides, till the 17th to Italian sides and till the end of the month to all other teams.

Unless we've applied for a work permit for Maia already we'll never get one in time. He won't pass 1st time around and will have to appeal, just no time, appeals normally take 1-2 weeks (see Muto/ Balbuena) unless they speed these up nearer the window end.

He might get one based on the price we pay and the totting up process.

And I believe we can sign him subject to work permit before the window shuts.

Then we just have to conclude the deal, and get the work permit sorted before the 19th or whenever it is that we'd be looking to let Obiang leave by.

The prospect of the Maia transfer excites me, it is the sort of young talented player we have all been crying out for us to sign. I am less thrilled over Lucas Perez, I know he is very cheap but he has not shown much at Arsenal and he is not exactly young, if we are signing him as a back up striker I would have preferred us going for a younger player even if it meant a bit more of a risk.

seems that Newcastle have offered £17.8m for Maia and they are trying to steal a march on us. Lots of rumours also circulating that Lucas Perez could be on his way at £5m, if stories are to be believed?

Think Maia might well get a quick work permit. don't Olympic games count as internationals? In which case he has 6 caps.
