Any truth to a rumour I have heard regarding interest in a Bristol city goalkeeper as back up? can't remember his name (was drinking with a few people who would know but had too many)

1.) 19 May 2019 15:25:17
Is it Maronovic, bit pissed as had a few Pilsners👍🍺🍺but looked online, bit blurry🤣😂🍺🍺👍⚒⚒⚒.

06 May 2019 06:40:25
Ed's any idea if we are looking at another centre back?
Despite being woeful at defending think we have other priorities - unless of course we are letting Ogbonna and Reid go?

{Ed002's Note - I would certainly expect Winston Reid go Glen. In terms of those looked at there have been several I am aware of:
Guillermo Maripan (CB) the very much preferred option but as I have previously explained, discussions are already in hand between Alaves and Roma - so West Ham would need to act quickly and figure out a way to persuade the player that a move to East London is more attractive than a move to Rome, but he remains the preferred option and with Roma in a bit of turmoil with the coaching situation, perhaps we can see something happen
Diego Llorente (CB) has been watched by Marseille, Spurs, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, West Ham, Fulham and Sevilla since joining Real Sociadad in the summer - Spurs could be tempted to make an offer as they expect TA to leave
Gary Cahill (CB) out of contract in the summer and Chelsea will let him talk to other English sides now about a move - West Ham could renew previous interest in the player who would be a useful addition for a season, or perhaps two but they have enquired about the wages required and may step back - but at the very least his demands would need to drop down a peg or two before an offer were made
Francisco Ferreira (CB) - Benfica won't want to sell Ferro and would want far too much for WHU to pay - scratch him from the list
Ciaren Jones (CB) would be one for the future.}

1.) 06 May 2019 10:59:12
Thanks Ed0002. Any news on midfielders?

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new to what I explained the other day. The club gave Manuel Pellegrini quite a free hand last summer and provided a large amount of money, and whatever way you look at it, it has not been a success. A couple of players have already been moved on and the likes of Carroll and Adrian are out of contract. I would doubt the club will look to taking up the option on Samir Nasri and fringe players will also me moved on, but none of that will bring in significant funds. Some money will come from the club and some money will come from the sale of Obiang and one or two others so they need to sell wisely - and they need to figure out a way to sell the club with no European football, little hope of European going forward in the short or medium term and no clear plan that is being shown to work - and that is what they will need to do to get Dani Ceballos to East London to kickstart his career.}

2.) 06 May 2019 13:26:32
Cahill would be a good acquisition.

{Ed002's Note - I think for a year or perhaps two he could help the club stabalise - there is interest from elsewhere but, even though wages would be reasonably high that should not be a problem with outhers leaving. There would be a signing on fee but no huge transfer fee or other costs.}

3.) 07 May 2019 11:48:15
Cheers ED002 as always brilliant insight :-)
Hopefully we can develop and blood some youth next year, you are quite right, we are miles away from European football at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

28 Mar 2019 07:19:26
Looks as though the papers are linking us to Maxi Gomez again, any idea which clubs are interested in him Eds?
Doubt very much he would come to WH but even less likely if big clubs are sniffing.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona see Gomez as a Suarez replacement but the lack of an EU passport makes it very unlikely even if Malcom is sold, and their attention is elsewhere.}

1.) 28 Mar 2019 14:59:07
If the report is true that his buy out clause drops to £21m (approx) if he drops a division, surely they’ll be a huge queue at that money.

2.) 30 Mar 2019 17:16:24
id like to see us go after chris wood, similar kind of player to gomez but with a proven record in the prem and also home grown status despite the fact he is a kiwi.
him and grealish would sure help boost our home grown quota which is diminishing rapidly.

3.) 31 Mar 2019 23:04:19
Celia Vigo has a late win this week so still a chance of staying up.

4.) 01 Apr 2019 15:53:11
Would love to see us at least try but don't think we will get better players until we can keep our best players and are in Europe (Uefa - we are still miles off champs league)

5.) 03 Apr 2019 19:23:27
But are we close to Europe? We lack squad size and class and more importantly a winning attitude, the soft underbelly is always there, I think that infuriates me more than anything else!

6.) 05 Apr 2019 09:38:52
Aye, you are right, no where near Europe at the moment. Need to be developing youngsters for cheap good players and profit for now.

7.) 06 Apr 2019 11:52:15
Need to be doing something lol.

31 Jan 2019 21:37:40
According to rumours, we are still locked in talks with Maxi for the summer but wages are a problem
Also trying to get a loan done for Bat man (apparently chelski asked for 6m more off spurs to get a deal done😂)
Perez may leave for real betis for 3.5m
Hernandez still trying to get out but door looks shut
Honestly cannot see us doing anything.

1.) 31 Jan 2019 21:48:48
It seems Batman has agreed terms with Palace. imagine picking Roy Hodgson, I thought Pelle had pulling power haha?

2.) 31 Jan 2019 21:58:06
Batman to the palace done deal.

3.) 31 Jan 2019 23:45:43
Yeah. Literally popped up after I posted.
If we can sign a deal for gomez in the summer will be happy, lad looks very good and with service could be a 20+ goal a season Bobbie
On a brighter note, lanzini back in a month, that should get us back on track.

4.) 01 Feb 2019 07:39:46
What a joke of a window. We needed defenders and cdm and we chased strikers am done.

25 Jan 2019 15:36:25
Just a quick update.
39 mins ago, Arnie turned his instagram story to a message saying, "News Very Soon"
Sorry guys.

1.) 25 Jan 2019 15:57:28
CandH have picked this up too and refer to communication with a very senior source at the club in their article.

2.) 25 Jan 2019 16:06:17
Betting odds slashed too.
Explains the increase in whispers about Gomez and Belotti now.
Oh well, great while it lasted, had a chance to be a legend. now he will take his Yuan.

3.) 25 Jan 2019 16:41:37
Once the news came out that he wanted to leave, that was it for me in terms of being disappointed. I’ve moved on now am and not worried if he moves on - mainly because now we have MP, I trust that he will make this an opportunity to improve the squad.

Which manager would really prefer a 29yr old Arnie to a 22yr old Gomez?

4.) 25 Jan 2019 16:50:47
But will Celta Vigo release Gomez when they are in relegation trouble and his goals are all they have right niw.

5.) 25 Jan 2019 17:15:10
Celta vigo have said the full release clause will have to be met €50 million euros work that out for yourselves. COYI.

6.) 25 Jan 2019 17:20:43
I’d take Gomez in a heartbeat, but wouldn’t mind Belotti either as well, or as a second option. 😳.

7.) 25 Jan 2019 18:03:15
What a bloody childish saga this has turned out to be with Arnie, who a gives f—- now, posting stupid childish cryptic messages, absolute disgrace, he thinks he’s f——- worshipped by everybody.

8.) 25 Jan 2019 18:17:08
Get Dzeko in with Gomez, no point in having two strikers wanting to be the top boy, one will just sulk and fek off, Dzeko gives Gomez the chance to settle and find his feet, some strikers hit the ground running, but most need to adapt as the game is so fast here.

9.) 25 Jan 2019 18:48:03
His brother being the top agent and master negotiatior he is has battled relentlessly and managed to squeeze 300,000 yuan pw for his brother he can now chase his dream of silverware playing against top opposition for a top Chinese team of which name I suprsingly can't remember.

Honestly I'm happy for him he deserves this move hope all his fans get the good news within the next day or two. We all love you Marko go make us proud and show us you a ready to make the step up.

On a more serious note I really hope we go all out for maxi or bellotti favouring the former. But can't say I've had the luxury of seeing these play week in week out. Maybe a blessing in disguise we can get a younger top striker in now and get that sulky man baby away from our club.

Thought I would ask which youngsters people would like to see in first team action next year. This is just a follow up from Ajax beating Spurs, have had an academy grad in their first team for over 20 years and think we should follow suit, so here are my picks:
We have Rice but think the following should be given a chance next year:
Xander Silva
Nathan Holland
Ben Johnson
Conor Coventry
Ajibola Alese.

1.) 03 May 2019 11:37:44
Morning Glen would add to those Josh Cullen and Marcus. Brown as well as Grady Diangana getting a bit more involved and I also think with Adrian likely to go then Nathan Trott could be number 2

Of all of them I was very impressed with Ben Johnson to get your debut against Man City and not be overawed was v impressove.

2.) 03 May 2019 16:14:02
Holland is the one I'm excited to see quick good feet a proper player, don't get the hype around Cullen nice tidy player but don't think he got enough about it to be premier league quality hope I'm wrong.

3.) 03 May 2019 20:53:56
A real good question and a difficult one I’ve not seen enough of the youngsters Ben Johnson had a great game against but a poor 2 game returning from injury. mp has proven he ready to give youngsters a start if they have they proven themselves . you can’t rely on the youngsters but you can start introducing them to playing with the1st team with over playing them. i like to see Silva making the bench Carroll definitely gone Peres will go Chico providing meets his wage demands will go I’d like mitrovic woods Silva and Arnautovic up front and sometimes push Anderson into his favorite no 10 role.

4.) 03 May 2019 21:33:21
Agree with much of the above.

I’d like to see Trott promoted to no.2 after Fabulouski; Holland and Silva given more first team chances. I haven’t seen enough of Coventry, but would like to see Johnson as reserve full back on either side.

My feeling about Diangana is that he still has a lot to learn. Lots of fizz, almost no end product - he needs to be loaned out to learn more basics.

Marcus Browne is a real talent and needs to be in the first team squad. He has been consistently good wherever and whenever he has played.

5.) 04 May 2019 09:25:06
Agree Makro - Diangana has potential but chucking him in the first team once in a blue moon is not good enough.

18 Apr 2019 10:26:43
Score predictions v Leicester? Going for a 2-1 win with another Chicha 'header'

1.) 18 Apr 2019 10:49:20
All depends which West Ham side turns up!

I'd like to go with 2-1 as well. Hopefully Felipe Anderson keeps up the form he showed at united, and maybe the linesman/ ref will get the decisions right this time!

2.) 18 Apr 2019 12:25:17
Good positive predictions lads, but Leicester are no pushover on their day but neither are we! As TK says depending on what WH team turn up? I have a soft spot for Leicester as I had £20 on them to win the Premiership title in 2015/ 16 at 110/ 1😂 I placed the bet in November as they were so exciting to watch from the start, I won £2200👍 Had I placed the bet a month earlier they were 750/ 1, so could have won £15000😳 All the pundits were saying they won’t keep it going but I thought they were by far the most exciting team to watch that season, Jamie Vardy was amazing that season, the best in the Premiership terrorising opponents with his pace and finishing! So yes we can win, but so can Leicester!

3.) 18 Apr 2019 20:22:27
I think it will be a low scoring game, so I'm going for a 4-2 West Ham win.

4.) 19 Apr 2019 07:24:08
Stevie, low scoring 4-2🤣 I don’t like predictions involving us, we’re so unpredictable, so I just have hopes of winning against certain teams, this could be a winnable game, but good side Leicester and of course always got Schmichael
still to get past! Just hope Arnautovic isn’t playing, we play so much better without that lazy, sulking man! COYI⚒⚒⚒.

5.) 19 Apr 2019 23:14:40
CHIQUARITO is extremley doubtful.

6.) 20 Apr 2019 14:51:06
Fancy 3-1.

12 Apr 2019 12:11:50
Ok, so say we can get 75m through player sales.
Who would everyone like to come next year?
I imagine positions to be filled are:
LB, MC (dependent on Wilshere) and SC (possibly x2)
Bit of Friday fun but try to be realistic :-)

1.) 12 Apr 2019 13:10:57
I'd say we would need a RB aswell if Zaba goes mate.

2.) 12 Apr 2019 20:08:50
ST ST/ winger

I'd say this is probably the minimum we need over the next few windows.

All our strikers look pretty uncertain if they will actually be here next season. You could take your pick of any the strikers we have been linked to anyone of them on paper will be more useful to the squad than what we currently have particularly Carroll and Perez.

Personally I think the players we want rid of won't bring that much in. So I think the whole 25m to spend plus sales is boll*cks as that won't get us much at all.

One of the less known strikers we have been linked with I think looks quite impressive is 21 year old Christian kouame he can play LW and striker. Looks very quick tall and strong he's also looks very skillful and creative could be an absolute gem which is what we need as the funds aren't there to spend big in each position.

As for midfielders the one i'd love us to go for would be Ibrahim Sangare check him out look at his stats, he's been linked to Everton as a direct replacement for gueye but I think he will be an upgrade, many bigger clubs are now looking at him if various internet sources are to be believed.

3.) 12 Apr 2019 20:51:29
Loftus Cheek and Giroud would be my buys.

4.) 12 Apr 2019 22:51:19
Loftus cheek wants to stay at Chelsea. I don't think he's a viable option now it seems he is getting more game time also.

Giroud is old but top scorer in Europa league he's probably happy where he is.

I'm hoping for an emergence of CB Alese and RB Johnson be good to see if they can provide cover and eventually break into first team would certainly save us money It would make sense for them to be given a chance before seasons end. Then we can concentrate on the other areas I think we are desperate for a quality CM to replace Noble and partner Rice.

We should stop patching up our squad with older players on high wages and look to youth with actual sell on value and potential.

We need to look closer to home and try sign a quality home grown player. Che Adams would be a good shout but not cheap, Shelvey springs to mind also I know he's had some stick but on his day he's quality pings passes and not afraid to get stuck in, fingers have been pointed at his attitude I'm unsure on exactly why he has this reputation he's been loved by the Geordies and surely if their was any issues that would be ironed out by the fact he's west ham.

5.) 13 Apr 2019 08:01:05
who are we selling to raise 75mill?
just so i no who needs replacing.

but for a start
chris wood-st
che adams-st
all 3 would increase our home grown quota

followed by a midfielder out of
arne maier
exequiel palacios
nahiten nandez
james ward prowse.

6.) 13 Apr 2019 16:27:46
I think the 75m comes from selling, Adrian, Masuaku, Obiang, Snodgrass, Perez, Hernandez and Arnautovic without selling the latter I think the rest could bring in 20-30m.

I'd rather any of the following over Chris woods- Gomez, Mitrovic, kramaric, Wesley Moares. Woods is good for Burnley but I don't think he would fit Pellegrinis style of play.

Angelino of PSV may be a good shout at LB and their RB Dumfries certainly has the physical attributes for the premier league.

It would be smart for us to splash out on a quality full back can't remember the last time we did. They are so important in the modern game its a shame masuaku makes so many mistakes and positional sense always looks terrible as going foward he's very good if his delivery was better might justify him making mistakes here and there.

The midfielders you mention all look very young with good potential but already look on the radar of bigger clubs. So may be out of our reach.

One things for sure pellegrini and everyone involved in transfers who ever that is at West ham has their work cut out for them. If business carrys on like it has in the past under the Dave's then we will yo yo around mid table occasionally competing for 7th and flirting with relegation. We do have big potential though if we can sort out the way we do business and hold on to players like Rice if and when they come from our academy.

7.) 13 Apr 2019 19:37:07
woods is a similar type of player to mitrovic and gomez just much cheaper and has a bit more pace imo.
strong enough to hold the ball up, great in the air and can run the channels-something mitrovic and gomez lack the pace to do.
id suggest the list you offered shouldn't include arnie
we start of with 25mill (as rumoured)
mass and obiang 10milish each
snoddy, adrian and perez 5millish each
already gets us to 70mill
chuck in fernandes 7mill, byram 5mill and oxford 8mill
could get us to 90mill without losing arnie

90mill i'm going with
woods 25mill
che adams 17.5mill (what birmingham wanted in jan)
angelino say 20mill
leaves just over 25mill for midfielders
id look at the championship see if we could do deals there for some young up and coming players aswell using diangana and hugill as makeweights.

{Ed002's Note - And what about all of the other costs associated with the transfers?}

8.) 13 Apr 2019 20:17:07
Gomez and mitro are better at linking the play and better at finishing also younger. Woods yes is very good in the air as for pace I can't say non of them are known for it, either way very little in it.

I forgot about byram, fernades, Hugill. It's best not to get into prices too much as ed points out it's not as straight foward as it may seem. Payments are in instalments then there's agent fees buying and selling, player fees and probably loads of other things I don't have knowledge of. I'd imagine we will have to pay out just trying to find some of those players a new club no one is hardly chomping at the bit to get them.

Masuaku did well tonight, cresswell hasn't covered himself in glory recent seasons either. It's a tough decision to make and I'm glad I'm not making it maybe Pellegrini will stick with what he has there who knows? I'd certainly like to know what positions we have prioritised.

25 Jan 2019 20:10:50
Fair play, Arnie's post on Instagram is pure class. Commited his future to us am guessing until the summer. Cannot see a player incoming now, can I please stop trying to be ironmike now?

24 Jan 2019 18:34:18
Here is an idea, given the tragedy with Cardiff city, why not offer them Perez for free? Pay his salary until the end of the season as well?

1.) 24 Jan 2019 21:04:50
Won't help us or them really, a he's garbage so won't help them and b we won't offload his salary

Lose lose situation.

2.) 24 Jan 2019 21:06:40
Sounds like a nice gesture, Glen. Don’t think it would get him off our FFP balance, though.

3.) 24 Jan 2019 22:05:25
It’s Nantes’ tragedy more than Cardiff’s.

4.) 25 Jan 2019 14:44:34
Bucky. It’s a tragedy for his friends and family. In this instance, I feel nothing for the clubs (as businesses)

Agree with Ed, gone are the days when we thought Bowyer and Dier were a calm partnership.

Agree with Mistley, look at all the top 6 and they play attacking full backs with 2 top CBs and a world class holing dcm. If team improves, we will need a player like masu so worth keeping.

Cheers again ED002, really good to hear honest answers on our transfer plans - are we still doing our transfers the same way?
(like headless chickens. )

{Ed002's Note - In terms of strikers, this is where I think WHU are:
Aleksandar Mitrovic (S) is a now realistic target and very much the Andy Carroll type player - but there will be a lot of competion - time to talk with Fulham
Said Benrahma (S) Brentford are looking for £25M with both Spurs and West Ham showing an interest - the question will remain can he step up
Maxi Gomez (S) very unlikely as he wants European football
Florian Aye (S)
Edin Dzeko (S) an enquiry has been made with his agent and if the price is low enough WHU may look to an offer, leaving enough funds to add another striker - but both Inter Milan and Everton are looking to him as well
Max Kruse (S) - has been watched by West Ham
Dario Benedetto (S) is a Plan C for Roma and RBL and suggested WHU makes no sense given his goals have dried up, his injuries over the past couple of years and he will only be able to get a one year Tier 5 work permit initially
Duvan Zapata - the player was not keen on a move to West Ham in January and the €50M asking price has already scared of Newcastle and Inter Milan - WHU could return but I doubt he would be first choice, certainly at the asking price.}

To be honest Chelms, not a lot going on. Even twitter is almost silent about us these days.
Personally think the main focus will be on player sales and feel most of us will find that quite boring?
Rumours I have seen on outs (From back to front)
GK - Adrian (Trott deemed worthy of 1st team)
LB - Masuaku
RB - Zabaleta, Byram (loan)
CB - Oxford, Ogbonna
MC - Obiang
LW/ RW - No one yet
SC - Perez, Carroll, Arnautovic
A few youngsters to be released as well.

ED002 gave a decent snapshot of players we are interested in/ have no hope/ likely a week or so ago and he is generally on the money.
Can start twitter roundup again if Mike doesn't return but frankly most is rubbish.

{Ed002's Note - I think a lot of effort needs to be made to hang on to Declan Rice.}

Last night reminded me of the Gerrard FA cup final, played well against a better team but one player made the difference.
