If we have a good transfer window and he gets the right tools then he will do a good job.

{Ed0333's Note - isn’t that the case for any football manager in the world? Any more pearls of wisdom up your sleeve mate?

I would prefer someone like atalanta manager.

I agree Stevie, 100%, it’s been proven in the past at other clubs u can spend a lot of money and get very good players and it doesn’t work so no ed it’s not always the case. No pearls of wisdom just a view which most of us will be thinking.

He was great at Villarreal and they were not big spenders. He had to build a team that would compete with the big boys without any major stars and did it. Not sure his style of football will succeed here though, great in Spain, it's one thing playing that way with City players. Be great to watch if it works though.

Hi ed, is it possible he has ( if he is indeed the new man in the chair ) got mr Sullivan to let go of the transfer controls and get a DOF? I’ve allways thought that it how mr Pellegrini likes to work? If so he’s done well!

{Ed001's Note - or maybe, scary thought as it is, Sullivan has appointed himself as DoF?? Seriously there has been some groundwork done towards appointing one, but we will only know if he is paying lip service to the idea or is genuinely looking to bring in someone over the next few weeks.}

Im really unsure Mike, Ok he won the title with City with a Gazillion transfer budget, we have players that need shipping out, and need players in, would £60m plus sales be enough for him to build this and what with the World Cup I can imagine time be a factor here.

I personally would do all what it takes to prise Benitez away, £6m buy out is irrelevant as they would get that selling a mediocre player, his wages £100k no more than a decent player. a transfer budget £100m well that's £40m more than what they say we have but how much have we saved over the season, we spent in net terms sweet FA,

No its Benitiez for me all the way, if he wants to stay at Newcastle so be it, but i'm unsure Ashley will give him what he wants. sometimes you need to speculate to accumulate, make him a offer he can't refuse and show how much u want him.

He plays good attacking football, has the age and experience not to be Sullivan's lapdog, and is unquestionably a step up for us in class.

Not a long term appointment, but 2 or 3 years of Pellegrini could well turn us into quite an attractive outfit.

Of those touted he's the best fit for the club.

Will need an overhaul to make his 4 2 2 2 formation work (or to repurpose existing players) .

It would be exciting times for sure, and music to the ears of the likes of Lanzini and Hernandez.

Would have to take hats off to Sullivan if this happens, horrid little man that he is!

BENITEZ it has to be. I reckon he thinks he owes SULLIVAN after moving on from us last time. Wonder how many of our players he would let go?

Morning Phil, if he thinks like Dm then you would have to say most of them.

Morning Jasonb. It seems from the tabloids and reports that we've agreed a deal with Pellegrini to be announced on Monday. IF you believe what you read.

What's the betting he will want Yaya Toure, he might even want Hart as well but let's hope he will go for an alternative keeper.

I've been thinking about this all day. I'm going to have to sit on the fence regarding Pellegrini. I know his previous with Villareal was good and then City wasn't the hardest job, but he succeeded. it's what he's been doing since that worries me. haven't heard anything of him for a while. I know he was in China, but if he was doing great, I'm sure Sky would have reported on it as an ex EPL manager.

Ed, not all managers will do a good job even if they have good players but Pellegrini will and will play good attacking football, that's all I'm saying, you're not an Everton fan by any chance and a little bit jealous, lol.

{Ed0333's Note - Ha ha...exciting times ahead for you guys mate. Manuel Pellegrini no less thoroughly nice guy and a myriad of experience. Not many managers in world football can say they’ve won the premier league title if you get him that will be a serious coup. I’m not saying he’s a great coach or anything but I never thought you guys could get someone of his caliber. I wonder how long it will take your bosses to mess this up?
