Has anyone else seen us linked with Perisic, thought he was the wrong side of 30, do we need older players?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of Perisic but Benito Raman (LW/F) - WHU have watched Raman on a couple of occasions.}

1.) 15 Apr 2019 13:04:48
Thanks for that Ed.

2.) 16 Apr 2019 18:23:55
Sorry lads but i do think we should stick to buying younger plaers. Look at the players we are stuck with over 30 No resale value at all.

3.) 16 Apr 2019 23:19:40
Is Raman any good? See he plays for Leverkusen but have no idea about German league.

4.) 16 Apr 2019 21:08:46
is he any good ED heard the name but have no idea if he is any good or not.

{Ed002's Note - There is already interest from several sides and that will grow as we get closer to the end of the season. He plays for Fortuna Dusseldorf and is a well respected LW who can play as a more central forward and on the right. He is very well liked.}

14 Apr 2019 08:11:29
I've seen that Real Madrid are talking to Rice and his family over a move to Spain, all I can say is because of his young age and length of contract he's only going to get better and better so IF he goes anywhere then the price should be in the 100s of millions?

1.) 14 Apr 2019 10:20:07
Anything is possible Stevie, but I'm not sure the source is credible, one for the Ed's opinion I'd say.

{Ed002's Note - He is represented by his family and I don't know if they have approached them or not. They cannot speak directly to the player and if they have West Ham can make a formal complaint to UEFA. Sides have taken a look as he is having a very good season. The sides include Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Spurs - and Real Madrid were present at the Chelsea game, and they may well be looking to an offer, certainly if Casemiro were to leave.}

2.) 14 Apr 2019 12:44:09
Thank you ed.

3.) 14 Apr 2019 15:07:01
How could he refuse if the offer is credible? Good luck to him, Madrid seems rather more attractive than Stratford😂🤣 he maybe able to ask for family arrangements etc as he seems a very family orientated man and May insist on that if they want him enough they will accommodate his wishes, we just need to make sure we capitalise on the fee obviously!

{Ed002's Note - I think West Ham should do what they can to hold on to him longer - perhaps explaining that he would likely not be a starter at RM or MU.}

4.) 14 Apr 2019 15:26:50
Ed002, At that age in in a different climate with life seeming like one long holiday, earning a fortune, phew that might hard to refuse depending on your personality and dedication!

{Ed002's Note - If he is bright enough he will understand (at least I hope he would).}

5.) 14 Apr 2019 15:41:15
Agree ed, at any huge team he could be a project and not an automatic pick, if he wants first team football then I hope he stays put.

{Ed002's Note - I hope so to. It will be good for both the club and the player.}

6.) 14 Apr 2019 17:52:44
Another season or 2 with us would probably be best, if he continues at this rate man u and real are the only 2 teams that could afford him out of the ones you mentioned. He was superb yesterday, countless brilliant tackles always intelligent in his play, he keeps getting better in a attacking sense too. Would love him to do a Billy Bonds but the lure of competing for the champions league with real is more than understandable.

7.) 15 Apr 2019 03:09:00
Too many next big things have gone to Real Madrid and ended up never playing. If he is good enough he will get offers later, right now he needs to be playing and only likely place that will happen every week next season is West Ham. After that unless we push top 6 I fear he will be off.

8.) 15 Apr 2019 10:15:57
Iron. Al - don't forget we bought Billy Bonds from Charlton (he played 95 times for them) - he didn't come through our youth system.

All footballers think they will be or should be starters. You don't get to where Rice is now without tremendous self-belief and he will believe he will get game time at a big club of they pay a fortune for him.

9.) 15 Apr 2019 12:09:37
Yes Bonds only got the captains armband because Lampard was looking for a transfer.

06 Apr 2019 14:59:19
I've seen a lot of reports stating that we've agreed a deal with Dzeko?

1.) 06 Apr 2019 20:14:15
I’ve read those, too.

He has been and still is (just about) a quality front man, but Roma’s valuation for a player of his age is ridiculous.

MP knows him as well as any, so bringing him on board makes sense - at a sensible price.

2.) 07 Apr 2019 02:44:47
To old . Too pricy.

3.) 07 Apr 2019 20:23:17
Apparently according to Media, MP. willing to offer Dzeko £160k a week! Offload some of the overpaid players either not playing or doing F. A. I don’t think it would be a bad deal, depending on contract length?

{Ed002's Note - The coach does not decide the wages that will be paid.}

4.) 07 Apr 2019 21:23:36
Ed002, just quoting in the Media it states “ Pellegrini is prepared to pay him £160k a week”.

{Ed002's Note - It is not how it works I am afraid.}

5.) 08 Apr 2019 10:38:27
Yeah, reckon our owners will balk at that price.

6.) 08 Apr 2019 10:52:38
That would smash our wage structure and have others clamouring for more. Sully won’t do it.

7.) 08 Apr 2019 10:18:52
Would it be fair to say that Birmingham blaming Redknapp and Zola for playing a massive part in their current situation is a little out of line?
Managers ask for players and what not but ultimately the signing and final terms any players are offered are down to the owner/ chairman.

{Ed002's Note - They are scratching around for excuses. It is rarely the owner or chairman who get involved closely in transfers, and not the case at Birmingham - although it is at West Ham and the primary reason the club has been held back in recent years.}

8.) 08 Apr 2019 13:49:37
We are such a strange club. Even our own fans are weird these days. Don’t know what we want and currently no idea as to how to progress at all.

Until the miracle happens and we become a stable club we should be happy with the odd win over the top 5. I miss getting a result against Chelsea one week then losing to cheltenham a week later and the world not ending over it.

9.) 08 Apr 2019 14:25:53
Ed, will it be Husillos acting on behalf of west ham now?

Was he the man behind last window?

{Ed002's Note - One of the owners still has far too much involvement with the transfers at West Ham United, but I have zero confidence that Mario Husillos can fix anything at all - it was a hopeless appointment as I said at the time.}

10.) 08 Apr 2019 14:43:51
To be fair, I miss those days too.
Am pragmatic enough to realise that we are mid table at best.
Our signings and the amount spent on them has been a little strange though - I see clubs buying smart and learning, yet we only ever seem to make the same mistake.
Either old/ payday players or temperamental players who will leave the moment things go against them.
I would much rather the club go back to its roots and develop youth for a fraction of the cost and get some sort of business model going. If we ever want to compete with Chelsea (41 youngsters loaned out) or Man City (28 players loaned out)
I know that Fifa wants to stop this but cannot see them beating the combined might of some of Europe's top clubs and think this is what we *must* do.

11.) 08 Apr 2019 18:38:08
I agree but it’s out of our hands. So why worry?
Just hope for a time in which the players try for an extended period and play entertaining football. Regardles of how they came to play for us and for how much etc.

Hope used to be important in football. Now the overriding feeling is despair with the majority of fans. It’s a shame.

03 Apr 2019 13:21:31
According to one report, personal terms have been agreed with Gary Medel?

{Ed002's Note - Certainly WHU made enquiries in early December and I appreciate Sanchez is injured - but he will be available next season. That means the addition of Gary Medel would be a short-term solution if Declan Rice were to leave, which he shouldn't do as he won't get the playing time he gets elsewhere.}

1.) 03 Apr 2019 15:21:35
Any truth in us being interested in Dani Olmo?

{Ed002's Note - Dani Olmo was looked at by West Ham last season when Dinamo Zagreb were happy to profiteer with interest from Borussia Dortmund, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Cagliari and most noticably Milan. They wanted too much and he is spending the season in Zagreb. I am not aware of any renewal of interest but given previous interest, it would not be a surprise.}

2.) 03 Apr 2019 19:19:44
Thanks ed.

3.) 04 Apr 2019 12:40:25
great feedback Ed002, thanks!

4.) 05 Apr 2019 09:36:59
Cheers Ed_002, voice of reason as always - really appreciate your input.
Just out of interest, do you know if there is likely to be interest in Arnautovic/ Perez? Assuming Carroll will go as well?

{Ed002's Note - Arnautovic has obviously disrupted West Ham's season with the issues he caused in January. Right now I am not aware of any interest in him, although his brother may well still be talking to the Chinese - I don't know. Again, I am not aware of interest in Perez. Regardless, West Ham need to sort out the forwards and get settled. I am told that the club think that Xande Silva has a great future and hope to give him opportunities in the first team when fit. As we have discussed, in addition to the December and January flirting with Maxi Gomez, the club has looked at the likes of Said Benrahma, Edin Dzeko and Max Kruse but there is a risk with each due to experiance or age. However, Aleksandar Mitrovic is a now realistic target and very much the Andy Carroll type player - but there will be a lot of competion - time to talk with Fulham.}

5.) 06 Apr 2019 02:47:45
Arnie seems to be playing like a guy that doesn’t want to be there and has fallen out with team mates and club. His problem is that if he wants away unless he picks up his game no-one will want him. Our problem is we have him an improved contract which we will have to keep paying with his value dropping based on his performances.

6.) 08 Apr 2019 10:42:09
Cheers Ed002, as normal you have got through the waffle :-)
Interesting about xande too, I quite like him as a player and would only require us to buy one and keep one if he gets promoted which would be a touch.

24 Mar 2019 14:34:20
There are strong rumours that we will sign Maripan (central defender) this summer £12m?

1.) 24 Mar 2019 17:41:54
Chilean, like the gaffer.

2.) 24 Mar 2019 18:07:59
I've seen a bit of him looks a good strong player if we could add kessie, Gomez Adams and koutrais that's the spine strengthened and age massively reduced with the likes of yarmolenko to come back and youth knocking on doors the squad would look good and Deadwood gone.

3.) 26 Mar 2019 08:32:34
I love the sound of all those players. with one exception.

I can’t get excited about the prospect of signing left back Koutrais from Olympiakos. I mean we signed Masuaku as a promising left back from the same club and that hasn’t exactly gone well.

People were saying in earlier posts about signing Tierney from Celtic would be a risk because it’s a dodgy league. the Greek league isn’t exactly a dominant league.

4.) 26 Mar 2019 12:20:40
I agree with you but with our possible modest budget he could be the best for price range and he does look good I'd prefer a young English player but prices are crazy,

5.) 27 Mar 2019 19:38:31
I mentioned Jamal Lewis of Norwich on another post but since they're starting to look destined for promotion a £4.5M player will all of a sudden become a £25M one. Ok, he's not English but he's home grown so boom! Up goes the price. Shame though, as he'll end up playing for a bigger club than Norwich (no disrespect) sooner rather than later.

6.) 28 Mar 2019 14:59:56
I’m surprised we didn’t go for Marzipan at Xmas. ☺️.

7.) 31 Mar 2019 18:32:15
Dont realy matter who we go after the ones we got only play when they feel like it dreadfull yesterday always gona be a midd table team always have been.

13 Apr 2019 19:26:35
Thought they played well today, we was robbed!

1.) 13 Apr 2019 22:18:26
I didn't know fergie was now a referee as well as a timekeeper horseowner and director the man will be on BGT soon I mean was it him in disguise because graham scot without doubt is a red 100% as that was up there with a byased a performance you will see and we didn't deserved that.

13 Apr 2019 18:23:45
I hope the ref looks at those decisions at half time because he needs to give us two decisions now?

13 Apr 2019 16:49:22
What is that line up, Fredericks has done ok in recent games and he's on the bench, and have we seen the last of Arnie, not even on the bench?

08 Apr 2019 21:53:04
Well what a load of pony that was, Anderson and Lanzini couldn't get in the game Arnie looks fed up, I really don't know what positives we can take from our last two games.

1.) 09 Apr 2019 00:59:17
Arnie has lost the fight he would rather try buy a foul than battle to keep hold of the ball.

Couldn't see if he was fouled as no replay but their defence got touch tight with our attackers throughout Suprised some weren't given, perhaps we were looking for it abit trying to con the ref rather than forcing the defenders to actually make a challenge.

08 Apr 2019 20:51:37
Christ, what a crap half, we've got no pace up front, when we do get the ball in the final third We end up passing it back To the centre backs, shocking, we need more of an overhaul than what we might think.

{Ed002's Note - Lansing and Anderson are failing to contribute anything - not chasing back, nothing.}

1.) 08 Apr 2019 21:56:14
Ed002 bee saying this for a while now Anderson loses the ball tooucj and his pass completion is poor also.

2.) 08 Apr 2019 22:40:54
We played like a team with no confidence whatsoever in the first half just hoping to keep the score down, no effort. no ideas, not offering anything for the travelling supporters to cheer about, disgraceful! The 2nd half when Snodgrass came on I saw a definitive improvement within the whole team effort for some reason? We’re seriously lucky we had a good run when Arnie was sulking and supposedly injured in December and won 4 games quite rapidly or we would be up to our necks in our usual relegation worries!

{Ed002's Note - I watched the game and would say Lazini and Anderson did not pull their weight, Chelsea were very good and I think the entire West Ham defence played well. A loss I understand, but not a really bad performance.}

3.) 09 Apr 2019 00:52:01
At least they didn't cut us open time and time again like the toffees did, second half was much better and we had some alright chances.

Such a patchy season so hoping we can end it strong with some good performances.

Balbuena back and Diop rested be good to see that partnership back before seasons end.

4.) 09 Apr 2019 14:17:28
I like Anderson but as was pointed out before he joined us, he only really turns up for 1 game in 5,

5.) 10 Apr 2019 07:21:07
Jasonb, what can you expect, we only paid €40m for him🤣😂 Bloody big gravy train at our club, we don’t deserve to be able to retain quality when you have so many players not pulling their weight, especially if the lesser earners put in a better shift, sends bad vibes to them surely when you see others earning more or even being paid at all!

{Ed001's Note - it's a shame that a player with so much quality does not realise that he could be so much more with a bit of effort.}

6.) 10 Apr 2019 15:49:49
True ed but how do u get that message across? If a player won't listen to his peers the press or the fans, what chance dos a manager have?

{Ed001's Note - sometimes you just can't but that is why you should do more research than just scouting a player on the pitch before you sign them.}

7.) 11 Apr 2019 13:32:39
True ed no one can argue with that, but you tube is so useful lol lol lol.

{Ed001's Note - hahaha.}

On the other hand chaps, am I right in saying by winning the Europa league you qualify for champions league, that could be our only way to get to play champions league football (as it's going to be difficult to get into the top four, ) therefore attracting quality players, but I completely understand what you're saying.

Chelsea might not let him leave as they've got a transfer embargo, they can't get anyone in, especially if Hazard leaves as his virtually out of contract.

{Ed002's Note - Putting aside any thoughts of an "embargo", Chelsea has had a very good offer for Tammy Abraham already from another side and will talk to the player at the end of the season.}

Absolute joke at the moment, Cardiff last week and now Huddersfield 15 mins to get 2 goals to draw.
