People seem to want the club to sign what I would consider bang average players for over the top money.

Perez from Newcastle is not a player that will take us into the top 6, especially for £30M

Marega and Rondon, again, not players I would personally look at taking.

Someone mentioned Balotelli?! Madness to even consider bringing him in.

The ONLY player with an attitude problem I would consider is Icardi from Inter. He is clearly not part of Conte's plans, for the £55M quoted that is good value in this market. I am not convinced he would come to WHU though, unfortunately.

I feel we should only be looking at players better than what we currently have. I don't feel Perez, Rondon or Marega fit that bracket.

It’s a matter of what we think the club can afford and then preference based perhaps on past performance and potential.

Any opinion is as good as the next one and much of what we chat about here is speculative at best.

An educated guess suggests that the decision makers at the club are less than likely to be swayed by our musings, but it’s fun talking about the possible future of the club.

I think I’ll rely on MP’s considerable experience to do the best he can, within the constraints he’s under.

100% MikesIron and Markro
My only comment would be on Rondon, while I agree he is NOT the player that will transform us into top 6, he would be an improvement on what we have. Otherwise MP would play Chica more or do more to keep him at the club. It is also clear that Rondon is not our MAIN target, that reportedly goes to Gomez who IS seen as the player to transform our attack. But, given MP's preferred style of striker he is an improvement on what we have, AND comes with proven ability in the prem, which at £16m represents good value in today's market. It is a squad game after all, and we cannot afford 2 £30m+ players.

{Ed002's Note - WHU want two forwards - not just one.}

We are not a top 6 club, therefore we need to look at players who will improve us. Rondon n Marega would improve us up top and possibly help us attain 7th. At that stage we’d be close and ‘top’ players may then become interested in us. It’s a case of building slowly and not being silly like we were under the Icelandic regime.

Yeah I agree with Mark and nic. I don’t think Rondon would be a marquee signing but would low cost relatively. He seems to work hard and generally puts in a shift unlike AC who’s never fit and little pea who doesn’t try. We are going to struggle to bring in a real quality striker as most would want CL football. Rondon and hopefully somebody decent, hopefully Gomez (but unlikely) would be good business especially when it looks like we could get a lot of goals from midfield.

I don't want Rondon as he's nothing more than very bang average but I disagree with you MikesIron about Balotelli. If we signed him he'd be the best CF the clubs had for years by a country mile. Bloke scores goals, that's what he does and to be fair, his histrionics have mellowed slightly over the years. Besides, we seem to do pretty well when it comes to barking mad Italians.
