Danny Murphy on Kalvin Phillips' chances of England selection:
"I still think he'll go because we know Gareth [Southgate] has a fondness for him due to what he has done for England previously. Speaking to one or two people who are around that situation, it sounds to me that he'll go either way."
Based on that, Trevor Brooking should expect a call from Southgate because he played quite well for England in his time.

And to add good news to good news. If David Moyes is still in charge next season, Manchester United believe we will approach them again for players and they are hopeful they can offload Scott McTominay to us!

Personally, we need players for other positions before we add anymore midfielders. Then and only then should we be looking at more midfielders, unless of course PAQUETA goes to Man City and then Midfield overhaul may be needed. Thoughts anybody?

I’m assuming that Murphy was talking in his role as “football pundit” and not in his moonlighting job as Dobby, the fictional character in Harry Potter, although where Murphy is concerned, the dividing line between fact and fiction is often difficult to differentiate. Still, there is the possibility that if Moyes is shown the door after all, he could be replaced by Southgate who may be searching for a new post by then. Daisy is quite right that, with Moyes in charge, the Manchester United retirement home could be a feeder club for West Ham. We live in exciting times.
