As with alllllll West Ham dealings, it takes WEEKS to resolve and such is now the case with LINGARD. Personally, don;t want him anywhere near our club after his previous antics and it seems he is now repeating the same feat. Not 2 weeks ago he was training with our players and begging to come back to his "HOME"! Now, it seems we are competing with other clubs, including premier league clubs, for his signature.? You are having a laugh. Did we not learn. This joker is all out for himself, so get rid of him and go find FREE AGENTS who actually want to be here for Footballing purposes because he doesn't

In all honest were does he fit in the team
Granted if we get injured he maybe useful but apart from that I don't see it missed the European squad now
I would be looking a striker if anyone as a free agent

Couple of things Daisy, why would we offer Lingard a contract, of any length, if he isn't fully fit? We'd be paying his wages to train.

We have all the time in the world to decide if we want to sign him and frankly, I wouldn't be offering him a contract until AFTER the international break anyway. Again, why pay his salary for a week or two more than we have to?

He has supposedly said he wants to come to West Ham, that doesn't stop other clubs expressing an interest and it doesn't mean he is approaching other clubs to sound out interest. The two biggest teams apparently looking at grabbing Lingard are actually Turkish according to the articles.

And Hamm3r5 whilst I appreciate he doesn't fit in the starting XI, we are likely to lose Kudus (Ghana), Benrahma (Algeria) and Cornet (Ivory Coast) in January to AFCON. That in itself is a huge drain on our attacking threat.

Signing Lingard on a one year deal, to cover the loss of those three at the AFCON tournament and as a back up to cover injuries (Cornet was out almost all season last year and Antonio cannot stay fit for a full season) and I think it is a smart addition.

I completely agree with Die 4. It makes sense. Take our time, and if it doesn’t work out, what have we lost?

Rumour has it he’s playing in our team v Ipswich behind closed doors.

And let’s not forget that we could still lose Fornals. The Saudi transfer window doesn’t close until 7 Sept and Fornals has dropped further down the pecking order. He may decide to move now and with only a year left on his current deal, who would blame WHU if they decide to achieve some financial benefit?

But the windows open in January
I hope we revisit the Brazilian striker we were looking at then as i'm sure I read they wanted to keep him till December
I'm not against signing him on the right deal just don't see were he fits in now

You’re right Hamm3r5 but at the end of the day, would it not be better to have a free agent, signed in September, with a few months to settle, that knows the team, the squad, the tactics, the style of play, the coaching staff, the general lie of the land that can slot in as and when needed? Rather than signing some additional player, for a fee, that takes a little while to settle?

Modern life, and people, have such short and immediate only attention spans that empires will have crumbled etc by next year. All be forgotten.
