So the guesses about the 50m bid are now taking place. The Sun suggesting Kelvin Phillips, ex suggesting Raphinha. I doubt both. The Phillips one just doesn't seem to have any basis and the Raphinha guess the timing is wrong. I just don't think any 50m bid was made.

He’s comments are always “ I heard” “ what I’ve been told” blah blah blah. It’s him hedging his bets.
His comments about Phillips I read two days ago, so his “inside information” is complete cobblers.
I don’t even read his crap anymore.
Name one player who’s name wasn’t already linked with us that he has mentioned that we signed.

Another CM huh? 4-3-3 anyone? That'd give Moyes an excuse not to sign a striker since he'd argue that Bowen, Benrahma, Yarmalenko and Vlasic can all fill in if necessary.

I wouldn't actually mind a 4-3-3 with Phillips, Rice and Soucek and it's a formation that's easily tweaked in to a 4-5-1 or 3-4-3 if necessary. Relies a lot on having marauding FB's though and I'm not convinced Cressie could bomb up and down for 90mins solid nowadays.

Agree COYI, he is no better and no worse than all the other journalist types just making stories out of tidbits putting 1 and 1 together and getting 3. No facts till a deal is done, no real commitment to what he says/writes. If he truly had the inside word he would be a lot more accurate and the club would have also found the leak and stopped it.

Billy not sure 4-3-3 with 3 DMs would be such a good tactic, in any case unless we were planning on losing Rice I wouldn’t think we would have bid for Phillips. Just ex and paper talk. No way in the world did we just bit 100m for two Leeds players and if we did it was not with any real expectation of landing them.

I’m 100% with you on ex-employee being no worse or better than other journalists.
To reinforce our views, I read another article from him just now. How’s his for hedging his bets.
He stated that the deal is still on but says it’s unlikely to happen. What a complete dick! He thinks we were all born yesterday.
Then there is another numpty journalists on Hammers News who regurgitates word for word what ex-employee states. He’s certainly not a journalist as any of us could regurgitate the complete horse sh*t that ex employee and hammers news spout.
The thing that agitates me is how they make comments like “go and get the player- it’s a no brainier” “worth the risk” “just pay the money being asked”.
Yes this is the fans club (if it was an ideal world” but we can’t say it’s our club when the debts and costs are in the hands and the responsibility of the board. If the fans think that buying a replica shirt once a year and going to watch the games even covers the costs of the salaries we have some seriously disillusioned fans.
All I see on this site in the main are critics and club bashers which irks me. We all feel frustrated when we don’t sign players but do we really want to get ripped of in January and play two times the value of a player, when more players are available in the summer and we can get better value for money and a better pool of players to choose from?
Always good to see a fan like yourself sdl who shares carefully considered and objective posts mate.

We are seriously in contention for European football for the 2nd year in a row, have the best midfield player in the PL in DR, play counter attacking football which is very easy on the eye and to me the future looks really bright yet there are still people on here that aren’t satisfied …. Honestly, I’m no great fan of Gold and Sullivan, but I also know that potentially they saved us back in the day and as millionaires (not billionaires like so many other club owners ) they have dug deep into their pockets on more than one occasion. They have kept us afloat during a pandemic and still managed to find us a “reputable” investor. Need I say more?
I’m a fan grateful for what they have done, in spite of Thor faults.

Yes, even after some deliberatoin I still cannot see why we would want 3 top DM's in same team - the negativity would be astonishing. As it stands Tomas and Dec take turns to bomb forward. As i said before - I suspect the plan would have been to play Soucek further forward as say a No 8 or 10. Raphinho is a winger i hear; but we are not exactly short of people who can play there already.
