£40m for Arnie is no where near enough. I for one would be extremely disheartened if this turns out to be true, selling the best player in the team is not how you build for the future. It could also set a dangerous precedent that if you have half a good season with us we will just sell you on at the first chance.

Wh4ever, Arnie to me is priceless, but realistically at 29 unless we put a valuation on him to put people off even he on a business level is fast approaching an age when sell on values will drop dramatically within a year or so, don’t think the Manc’s or anybody else will pay much more than £30m for him, pointless selling to buy another so called goal scorer when we know he does it for us, only other reason is for book balancing imo? Wenger at Arsenal was wary of giving anybody over 30 a long term contract! As another poster on here said, let’s hope Arnie can see we might have something special happening at our club and wants to be part of a new team team building side fit for Europe and some success next season providing he and his family feel settled here?

I totally agree with what you say Chelmsford believe me I do, I just look at how integral he is to our squad and think "can we guarentee that can be replaced". Swansea were able to get £45M i think it was for Sigurddson last season when the player was clearly making noises for wanting to leave. He is one year younger than Arnie and was Swansea's most important player look at them now. I am not saying we will be doomed if we sell him but for me it sends a negative message. If his head is turned then there is little we can do about it, we all agree on that. Hopefully like you say he will buy into what is trying to be built at West Ham.

Wh4ever, yes agree mate, Sigurddson and quite a few others look a revelation playing for some clubs, attract lots of attention, then look quite ordinary when they move! I thought he was fantastic at Swansea all the time he was there and was I bemused why Spurs sold him, at Everton he’s anonymous! Hope Arnie feels how valued he is but can become another squad player at the Manc's?

Arnie will always start for us if he stays fit and sharp. That would not be the case at Mancsville.

Selling Arnie now would be great financial business, but it would have to be more than what Everton paid for Sigurdson. £50m plus is the MINIMUM and he is worth every penny! The teams touted as being interested are not short of money either! He was one of the best centre forwards in the league once he moved into that position, and in a better team would have scored plenty more. i'd have him in this Pelle team over Lukaku easily.
Personally I do not want to see him leave, and I doubt Pelle would sanction it unless it was for a big sum and he had plans in place to replace him. If sold, the most important thing is how we spend the money and replace him, whatever happens I trust Pelle.
We don't know what Arnie thinks, but I could understand if he wanted to go to one of these teams already in Champions League given his age. We may well get to Europe soon, but we cannot guarantee that next year whereas these teams can. I hope he believes in the project we have going here though, who knows, with no Europe this year we could do a Leicester or a Chelsea!
