So far, Bowen looks a class act in an England shirt, totally justifying his inclusion in the starting XI. A lacklustre performance from England by the 40th minute.

Dion Dublin has just commented after England makes 4 substitutions: “What a squad of players we’ve got”. Absolutely right. England has not had such a talented pool of players for many years. If only we had a manager who knew what he was doing. We might win something, instead of being the ‘also-rans’ playing boring repetitive football across the park and back passing.

I thought Bowen was 6/10 performance. He did nothing wrong, but nothing outstanding. Southgate needs to see him again, although he has no chance of displacing Saka.

The idea is not to displace Saka, but to have an alternative. Bowen was one of the few success stories in an otherwise lacklustre experimental side picked by an incompetent England coach whose post-match media waffle illustrated perfectly the need for someone who knows what he’s doing.

I'm a Southgate fan. He's got us to a final, semi and a quarter final. Please don't say with this set he should be winning. The best set of players we've had came under Erikkson. We have 2 world class players in Kane and Bellingham. The rest are very good. The team to avoid until the final is France. Apart from that, we have no-one to fear. France are similar to us.
