Good Morning All

The problem is the DGS have given us so much expectation in their bragging how we can attract top players we have all been blinded and taken in ( me also) what to expect. We are a mid table team and unfortunately that's where we will stay until proper investment is given in the transfer window, I do not think this will happen under the current board. I did type a post many moons ago saying that due to the money in the prem now it will cost a fortune to even get near the top 6 and now top 7 the way Everton are spending, and if the current board stay in place we need to either get better scouts in place, a Director of football and or try to bring through the young talent we do have, weather they are good enough will never know unless given a chance.

In a nutshell are we now looking at players which were so far down our list its unreal, and are they better than the current squad we have, which begs the question will the DGS actually spend for the sake of it and to appease the fans or try muddle through this season and stay up to go again in the next window?

What ever this is we should not be in a position we are in now struggling with targets, BUT we are a mid table team, what superstars would want to come with no European football as a carrot.

I still stand by my last post where as I would have got Defoe for the goals albeit for 3 seasons, this would have ensured we do stay in the Prem and spend the next 3 years building, incorporating the youngsters and adding decent team players as we go along, we can't get instant success as we can not financially compete, but we can try to build a decent team using what we have, it may take a few years but as long as we do not get relegated in my view worth looking forward at the bigger picture.

Good post mate :) not panicking yet BUT if we can't buy what we need we should not spend on rubbish! Might as well save the money and try another time .

Wow! Talk about your glass half empty chap! Never heard so much negativity and self pity in one post?!

Let's judge the Chairmen at the end of the window shall we instead of knicker wetting over Everton signing players off the front of the Lukaku money!

While I agree with the sentiment that we are unlikely to attract superstars, I cannot see returning to an era of buying old players looking for a last big payday will move the club forward. Surely there are some young strikers out there hungry to make a mark in the PL.

And of course the next window we will go through the same again.

Not sure where self pity comes into the equation lord, all I was stating what a lot of people think is were going nowhere in this window AGAIN, all I am stating is we cannot compete financially with the top teams so maybe a different approach or set how we try to sign players could be more fruitful

Dagenham I know where your coming from with Defoe, but the point I meant was Defoe scores goals he always has and always will right up to he retires, I meant him as a stop gap while we try to build and bed young players in over a few seasons, while defoe is there scoring the chances of going down would be greatly reduced while we try to build something for the future ( please someone don't quote Defoe went down with Sunderland, Sunderland were woeful as a team we are no where near that), the point is I think we need a different approach than what we are doing in transfers,

I think the key point everyone seems to be missing is that Everton are highly likely to lose their two best players - Lukaku and Barkley. Last season they lost stones. I would be more annoyed if I was an Everton fan.

We need to take their model and also the way spurs have operated and build a good young side. Then when we get to their level; which may not be a long way off if we go about things the right way, then we would want to keep those players.

If spurs sell Harry Kane this summer that is a massive step back. He is arguably irreplaceable. At least our board are showing ambition by going for players that are arguably out of our league at the moment. Building a good side takes time and we have just lost our best player in Payet. I think we now all realise just how good he was when we see how mediocre the team are without him. Let's be patient and hopefully the board will make the right moves. I most certainly am not jealous of Everton!

Ah yeah like we sold payet and wisely invested in fonts and Snodgrass and we still have not replaced him.

I must admit wondering what happened to R Snodgrass, he is not the same player that terrorised us at home last season, I know like almost all the squad he wasn't in his ideal posistion but he defiantly wasn't the same guy .
