Apparently it's the payment structure they rejected not the fee.

Of all the strikers in Europe why are we continually being linked with Benteke

no idea phil I'd rather play Carroll I honestly he's better than benteke.

If they want Sakho then give him to them. Then offload Valencia and Eminike (if necessary Carroll) and start again. Anyone remember the season when Sturridge and Suarez (OK, Two world class strikers) terrorised the premier league defences with the pace they both had. Surely that's the way to go in future andf we got to get away from this idea of "Crossing balls into a big man". Pace is what beats defences and we need lots of it! ANy more news on Icardi and Pareya!

{Ed002's Note - One of the interested sides discussing Icardi has been told that he will not be sold this summer.}

I read it was the payment structure, and that we are looking to put in an improved bid?

I suppose it depends on what paper you read. Lol.

Phil, Benteke isn't that bad. When you look at the amount of goals he scored compared to minutes played. He averaged a goal every 169 minutes in the league this season. That's a goal every other game.

Who would you rather go for?

hiya die 4 the payment structure the want is sakho plus 25 mill apparantly as for benteke for the money being talked about he isn't even an upgrade on andy carroll don't think he's that bad would just be a pointless signing for me, I agree with phil we need pace and quality finishing up front from a new guy we already have a good target man.

{Ed002's Note - The situation with Lacazette is simply as you knew it was going to be. I have no idea where you are getting all of this nonsense about £25M plu from - Twitter I guess. Go back and read what has already been explained about dealing with Lyon and try and see matters in context rather than coming up with all of these strange scenarios.}

£15m for Andre Ayew wouldn't be a bad way to start the transfer window off if we could tie him to 3 or 5 year deal. Ok, he turned his back on us once and went to Swansea but he still scores lots of goals. What about Ben Yedder (scoring shed loads of goals and bags of pace) and Ayew up front for £25m.
When we talk about pace, we need exceptional pace. Look what Vardy did this year. He's not a great player but his pace leaves defenders for dead. Lacazette has blistering pace and that's why he gets the edge on defenders. Offer Lyon Valencia and Sakho if necessary!

Ed002, I love your no nonsense messages. They really do crack me up.

Anyone know what our transfer budget and wage budget for new players is?

Benteke would be a decent player for us. He is a great target man and he proved at Villa he has quality. He scored bundles. The problem is, he again is someone that thrives from balls in to the box, and Liverpool don't play that style of football. They're more intricate.

Lacazette would be a great signing, but if we can't afford it, why continue to pursue. If we want pace, there are other players out there as well.

Coincidentally, if we can afford to pay £31 million for Lacazette surely we can afford £31.5 million that Leverkusen want for ex Man U forward Chicarito? Lol.

{Ed002's Note - You are very sweet. The situation with Lacazette was never going to be simple. And in many cases transfers rarely are. Lacazette remains the prime objective. I would ignore talk of budgets - the money is there for transfers and all of the related costs. It is more of a problem for wages because space needs to be made in the annual bill in order to add - but I would not concern yourself with that. Leverkusen has not put any price on Hernandez - and he is not a player West Ham has any interest in, so the finances are of no consequence.}
