Apparently all talks with Barton are off due to fan pressure, DG's opposition to it as well as several players coming forward to say they were uncomfortable with him signing, I've been told one of these was Poyet who felt that he was able to fill the Barton role (which I agree).

Agree Poyet should be given a chance, however, Barton was QPR's best player last year and is better than Nolan, Noble etc. I personally would have given him a deal on low basic wage and appearance money

I'd probably say Austin had an ever so slightly better season than Barton. only by 18 goals or so

Glad to see the Barton deal is off. Yes the lad can play but when things go wrong you don't want him in the camp. A lot to be said for unity and it helps to turn things around when the going gets tough, with Barton he can destroy that unity.
