I would suggest we start by getting the dimensions of the boleyn pitch and reduce the sizes of our current pitch to match. Maybe move some borading in and around the pitch to make it feel smaller. Then we need to sort the squad out. In an ideal world At the back Adrian can go and replace him with Begovic. At the back sell Nordvedt and Ogbonna. Go get Dominic Iorfa and Trippier and Bring Oxford in. Play WInston reid centre of back 3 with Iorfa and Oxford either side and cresswell and trippier out wide or play flat back 4. We need proper players who are young, have bags of pace and can tackle. The same in midfield. We need players who have a passion and can get stuck in for a battle as well as play. If we got to get Hogan then we have to play to his strengths so we got to get snodgrass and martial good tricky players out wide who can hurt you. time to stop messing about and get investing and pay proper money. Players not performing can go and I think Ogbonna has been too much of a liability with Nordvedt for too long

{Ed002's Note - (a) You cannot do that with the pitch. (b) Chelsea are not going to sell Begovic in January as they would need to replace him - and they have no plans to do that. (c) Who would you be selling all of these players to over the next three weeks?}

Pitch size is governed by FA rules Phil, can only have a pitch smaller than regulation if physical restrictions prevent it i. e. Small ground with tight stands on pitch edge ( like Upton Park used to be) I think this is correct

{Ed002's Note - Correct Jason.}

If that is the case were have to learn to play on a big pitch. Bring some players in over the next couple of windows who are are comfortable on the ball with both feet and able to knock it about in the middle of the park like man city did. Basically we could do with a David Silva. Maybe wingers who are willing to get chalk on there boots and some pace up front. The team needs confidence on the ball and pace. I would say were lacking in both of these areas.

Exactly. It seems our current crop of players (whether its because of fitness issues or not) can't perform to the full potential on this pitch. Man city had space everywhere, not helped by the fact we sat off them, didn't challenge and let them walk through us!

We definitely seem to lack pace for some reason . We seem to be lumbering all the time

To be honest I'd have to question our fitness overall remember the euro games we looked knackered after 20 mins

You can actually make the pitch smaller as long as it meets the set criteria: The length of a pitch must be between 100 yards (90m) and 130 yards (120m) and the width not less than 50 yards (45m) and not more than 100 yards (90m) . So we can play with it a bit.

{Ed002's Note - You cannot change it during the season.}

True, not during the season. The interesting thing is that the Boleyn was actually the same width 68m and only a few yards shorter. so probably grasping at straws blaming the pitch anyway.

Did you see online today? The only reason we had a smaller pitch at Upton Park was that it was impossible to make it the correct size for EPL regulations, and that our pitch is the smallest allowed at the moment anyway.
