Why would we want to spend £30m on maguire who is 30 when we could spend £34m and get 23 year old Perr Schuurs who liverpool are interested in. If maguire is a great option why aren't Liverpool, City, Spurs etc all over him? Quite clearly he is a bad investment. Get Perr Schuurs and in 3 years sell him for profit AND wages will be a lot less for the Dutch man?

Can't believe we're even looking at Maguire.

Moyes is blinkered by the fact that he doesn't have a captain at the club.

In his eyes, paying way over the top for a 30 year old with zero sell on value, unfathomably large wages and possible legal issues is a sign of good management rather than an admission that he's spectacularly failed to plan for life after Declan Rice.

However, if the fee for Maguire was say £10-£15m, I really wouldn't have a problem with signing him, as deep down there's still a good defender in there somewhere. But £30M+ and his wages is a joke, it really is.

We could sign two or three really good young players who's value to the club would only increase with that kind of money - rather than the short term band-aid approach that Moyes is apparently so keen to take.
