Watched the Italy v England game last night. It couldn't be described as 'riveting'. I'm not surprised Bowen was an unused substitute and I thought Rice was our best player, although even he didn't have a great game. I can't fathom why Sterling stayed on for 90 mins - he was anonymous from the start. And why Saka has been named as the England player of the year is astonishing. Who chose him? Admittedly, last night he was played out of position, and that explains why he was so awful, but I can't remember one outstanding performance by him in an England shirt. Anyway, if England put on a show like that in Qatar, they'll be catching an early flight home, despite us being in one of the easier groups. I can't see England beating any of the 'good' sides, so hopefully this will be the last outing as manager for the clueless Southgate. I do hope I'm wrong. Scamacca's early headed effort had me on the edge of my seat. If that's what he can do given the right service, I don't think we have much to worry about. It's the service that Moyes needs to improve - and of course he needs to give Scamacca a decent run of games - sooner, rather than later.

Definitely TinLegs. We need to get him the supply. Change of players and formation is needed or it will result in change of manager

Agreed. I don't know how on earth he got the England gig in the first place. Oh wait, yes, yes I do know, it's because he's exactly the type of silent sycophant that the FA just love.

Southgate has got us to a World Cup semi and and Euro Final. No one has come close to that since 66. Who cares about Nations League, it only replaced the friendlies. Support the man and the team.

Sorry WHU I just cannot agree with the Semi and Final statement.

In both tournaments we were up against mostly weak opposition and in both tournaments with the exception of beating an in transition Germany during the Euros, as soon as we played any team even remotely competent - we lost.

Whilst it looks impressive that Southgate got England to a Semi and a Final, I just don't believe it was down to his tactical brilliance, more a case of very favourable draws, results going our way elsewhere and big teams knocking each other out.

I agree about the Nations League though. As pointless a competition as it's possible to get, but the way England currently play under Southgate the World Cup could be a bit of a disaster.

Should we get out of the group: Senegal, France, Belgium, Brazil, Netherlands or Argentina possibly await - depending on whether we're 1st or 2nd in the group. Would you bet your house on Southgate being able to beat ANY of those sides?

The Nations League relegation will have flow on impacts with seedlings in other tournaments going forward. A disaster not to win one game out of six.

I think we’ll do well in the World Cup. France in the 1/4 finals, and they’re playing as bad as us. So that’s a 50/50. I think the players will turn up in the World Cup. They looked uninterested in these games, almost as if they did not wish to get injured. On a separate note. Bowen is not going, so it’ll be good for us. He’ll be nice and fresh from Boxing Day.
