So it seems we are very interested in a loan deal in January for wan bissaka. Anyone else thinking this could be "LINGARD TAKE 2"?

I would 100% take Wan-Bissaka, on loan or permanently. Admittedly, he isn't the greatest going forward, but he is a solid defender.

We have signed Luizao from Sao Paulo already and I'd be going above and beyond to sign Pablo Maia as well in January. He has bags of potential and has already been given the moniker "mini Casemiro" which is quite the statement.

I also think we should be going all out for Tete (winger from Shakhtar currently on loan at Lyon) as well. His contract is expiring next year and he is apparently available for permanent move in January. He is class.

None of those additions are unreasonable or unrealistic either. That in itself would be a decent transfer window.

Follow those up with a left back (although I think that is unlikely in January) and forward and we'd of strengthened some key areas of weakness.

For me, the problem we have with forwards, we have Antonio who is clearly the favoured choice for Moyes and Scamacca who is a big money purchase. Anyone we brought in could disrupt the apple cart that is Scamacca if he suddenly dropped further down the pecking order. Or they could simply be reluctant to join because they'd see opportunities as potentially limited - Scamacca hasn't been given an extended run in the team yet because he is being "bedded in" and has picked up a couple niggles.

However, a forward is definitely needed and there are some decent forward players with contracts up in the summer we might be able to pick up for knock down prices in January that I'd happily take:

Marcus Thuram - he'd be my first choice signing, can play anywhere along the front three and he is apparently available from Borussia Monchengladbach for around £10 million in Janaury, which would be a steal. He'd also add to the French contingent at West Ham which could mean he settles in to the squad quickly

Memphis Depay - has Premiership experience, spent a season at Lyon with Paqueta, so could potentially spark a bit more from him but might be on ridiculous wages at Barcelona which we simply wouldn't match. Can play anywhere along the front three and could potentially be had on a loan deal til the end of the season though?

Moussa Dembele - stupid wink after getting Cresswell sent off against Lyon aside, he has European and English Championship experience and he spent a couple seasons at Lyon with Paqueta, so could potentially spark a bit more from him. He'd also add to the French contingent at West Ham which could mean he settles in to the squad quickly

Ben Brereton Diaz - we have been linked with him for a while now, he'd be a decent signing

Josh Maja - has Premiership experience, but would probably accept being a back up striker, which would allow for us to give Scamacca more of a run in the team

Think you might be a little disappointed come January die 4.

Moyes has come out recently and said he doesn't think we will spend. Hopefully he's just keeping his cards to his chest.

Wan bissaka would be a quality signing for us. Solid defensively loves a strong tackle will get the crowd going. Not spectacular going forward but he's better going forward than what we currently have.

10m for thurman would be a bargain strong and quick looks made for prem. That being said i can't see him demebele or depay coming especially if we are still languishing around the bottom 3.

Good shout Die. I'd still like us to get a left back that can attack. Borna sosa would be good call

Lets face it everybody, our weakness at the back has for a long time been our full backs. The amount of times Cresswell and Coufal get cuaght out of position which then costs us. We have tried playing Antonio at full back, didn't work and so we go for cheap options every time. Window after window has come and gone and we do nothing about it. To compound the fact, we are now letting ASHBY (a very promising talent) go to Newcastle. About time we targetted some decent quality players and WAN BISSAKA is a good start. Not great going forward but the boy can defend. As Oshee said, let's hope its not going to be Lingard repeat and we can convince him to stay after loan period.

Moyes policy at least partly stems from his Everton tenure when Bill Kenright told him there was "no money for strikers". So mf players deployed in a 4-5-1 and others here note this is still what is being played some 15 to 20 yrs later. Mmm life moves on and in fact very quickly oor Davy

If Wan Bissaka’s assist on Manutd’s first goal against Burnley is anything to go by, I’d take him any day of the week.

Never mind, it seems all our defensive worries could be over. If Dawson is allowed to leave in January, we’ll replace him with Michael Keane. I knew it wouldn’t be long before the focus shifted once more from where we actually do have a problem to the position Moyes’ small brain can’t get past. And his solution? Once more the spectre of the Everton and England reject raises it’s ugly head. After all, it worked with Dawson, so it’s bound to work with Keane …. Isn’t it? Does the miniature Moyes brain ever think out of the box? The answer is no - it can’t even find it’s way out. My Christmas prayer: Please God, let the West Ham board come to it’s senses and sack the Argyle Gargoyle before he destroys our great club through utter self-centred incompetence.

My guess is Wan Bissaka may well be out of contention for a suitable replacement for wing back. Given his recent performances, I can’t see Man Utd letting him leave. We‘re going to have to look elsewhere.
