Liked that we gave Ashby and Coventry a good run. Cornet got about a bit and looked to add something. Scamacca took his chance well, not sure about his first touch a number of times though. Benrahma injected something going forward again when he came on and setting up the goal was brilliant. Just still want to see him do it against a top 10 side to be convinced.

Kehrer looked good when he came on and that chase back when we lost possession after a corner was what will go a long way to impress. Good to see Bowen get a goal and Antonio, hopefully it gets them going. Downside is we still look like we are in pre season as very rusty looking, passes not hitting their mark, Soucek still looks out of sorts, Bowen too but hopefully that goal changes things. Fornals still not at his best and Lanzini. Upside but hopefully the improvement continues as some good signs but also some concerns especially as we switched off when they took the throw which led to the goal.

Don't want to sound argumentative SDL but I thought FORNALS sparked us into life when he came on I do think LANZINI time has come to an end in a west ham shirt and SOUCEK really has to buck his ideas up what I don't get is we played good money to sign DOWNES who we was a number of clubs in for him and he can't get a start in front of COVENTRY who I didn't think had a good game he wasn't terrible but I ain't convinced but will agree that we haven't got out of 1st gear yet but that's down to DM to get us going.

Not usually a gambling man, but I would bet that more than 50% of Coventry’s passes were backwards. He is not good enough at this level. Downes should have started.

Reasonably impressed by all three new players who started.

I wonder if we’ll see Antonio and Scamacca together at any point this season.

Downes couldn’t start he missed training and had an injured toe. Coventry just needs experience which these games can give him.

Fornals started well, but drained away. Watching him, he gives the ball away too often and is weak in one on one tackles. Soucek had a terrible game (again) and really needs to be rested to wake his ideas up. I can see him going in January if he doesn't. Again, Benrahma injected life into a team which plays backwards and across the park far too often. Moyes needs to put neon lights around the opposition goal to signal which way we should be going. We need to up our tempo and head in the right direction. Hopefully, things will improve, but sooner rather than later.

Kehrer played a really nice pass out to benrahma for the goal as well, let's hope benrahma can add consistency to his game his numbers were good last season if he does it week is week out Wed have a top player on our hands.

That being said wouldn't mind seeing a front 3 of Antonio Scamacca and Bowen at some point.

Well the good news is Bowen was probably best against Brighton, the downside of course everyone else were rubbish and Moyes picking the same team again undid the work done in midweek. Perhaps Moyes should go back to the stands.

Yes how weird, a "defender" (full back) Antonio is turned into a striker and forwards and midfielders are made to play defensively under Moyes' system. What's it all ABAHT; as we may have said when a proper East End club.

The irony is we don't gives kids like Ashby"a good run" to bed in so Davy can then complain he's just a raw kid ;then not play him at all and / or ship the boy out
