This may be a crazy shout and is prompted by the lack of success trying to find a striker, but would anyone agree with giving Antonio a go up front. I have been so impressed with the lad, he does what is required in whatever position he is told to play, and does score goals, I have no doubt with his pace strength and scoring ability he could turn out to be a decent striker, obviously i'm not saying our only striker and we do need another, but for the Europa qualifying why not give him a go!

Hi Warrington,

It seems we are now interested (This is the key word "Interested") in Ben Yedder who has racked up 15+ goals in each of his last 4 seasons and because he only has a year left on his contract is REPORTED to be valued at £8.3m (But we've been here before a few times) . According to the Guardian, Leicester are also now interested so I would suggest we pull our fingers out to get this done!
We are also very INTERESTED (Lots of this interest about) in Mandzukic who could become excess to requirements at Juve if they get Higuain.
Presonally, If we got these two I'd be very happy.

I really don't get all this stuff with trying to play antonio out of position, after payet he was probably our best player last year now we are having to play him out of position to accomadate him in the team? just play him on right wing where he can use his pace to arrive in the box late and unmarked like he do so effectively last year.

Playing Antonio upfront in place of youngsters Martinez and fletcher would just be a huge kick in the nuts for those boys, square pegs in round holes? Let's do a u-turn on sakho/ Valencia and convince them to stay (make them feel wanted? )
I think we look desperate tbh we look like a kid in a sweet shop just desperate to spend our money on anything.

Hi Phil

They both would do well, I think my point is Antonio, scored 9 goals last season playing either right mid or right back, i'm pretty sure he would surpass 15 goals a season upfront, sometimes you find the answer to a problem may be staring you in the face, but to close to see it.

Obviously I appreciate all ifs and buts, but we seem to be slowly going down the pecking list of strikers abroad with no prem experience, until we reach a position where we could save a heap of money by giving someone a try who I feel would excel upfront, if that makes sense. Saying that we do need a striker in but only if suitable and not for the sake of it.

Agreed Warrington. Antonio scored goals for fun for Forest. Not sure why SB sees him as a RB?

Hi Red

I did not mean use him instead of a striker to play him out of position, what I meant to come across is I think Antonio has the ability to play as a striker as an option, he has pace strength and certainly knows where the goal is and can finish, Its just my opinion but I would like to see a couple of games him playing in the central role as I personally think he would do well, if not than he goes back to RB or RM, I just think he would score 20 goals a season as a striker as, again, in my opinion he has the ability, Norwich played a chap called Chris Sutton out of position once, he was originally a CB and went on to be a goal scorer both for Blackburn and Chelsea, i'm just saying we could ( could be oprerative word) have a striker sitting in RB or RM

Thanks.

According to Esporte, Deportivo Maldonado striker Jonathan Calleri has agreed to join West Ham on a season-long loan.

I see what your saying Warrington but for me the reason he scored those goals last year was because he was further back the pitch and could use his pace to good effect arriving in the box late and undetected to get on the end of stuff if we play him up top we lose that goal threat from midfield as good as tore and feghouli are thy don't carry the goal threat that antonio does plus bilic likes to play only one up front, could maybe use him upfront if we were chasing a game though alongside big andy I still think these plenty of good players avaliable so not panicking yet.

haha Phil, do you have an alert set up for Ben Yedder news? Agree with Redrobbo with regards to Antonio, I don't doubt he could, just don't see the need when he is so good where he is.

Hi all,

Michael Antonio is indeed a great player with bags of pace. I do believe he is left exposed at right back at times and also feel his best position is on the right wing where he can use his pace and get balls into the box. I think it will be a case of seeing how the new boy does (Feghouli) and slotting Antonio in to right wing while Feghouli finds he premier league feet.

Hi JackHammer,

I heard a few days ago from Italian reporter that we were showing an interest in Ben Yedder so I Just suggested he may be a good shout. From the same place as Mahrez so maybe Leicester have one up on us. AGAIN, ITS ONLY interest. NO BID has been submitted apparently even though he is priced at £8.3m (I would imagine its going to be greater than that) .

AM fairly sure that by the time we decide to bid, he will already have signed for Leicester, Lazio, Roma, Napoli or PSG. Seville were interested but they seem to have cooled. Its another situation where if WE ARE SHOWING GENUINE INTEREST WE HAVE TO ACT swiftly. Callieri and Mandzukic have also been mentioned but this kid is a gazelle with an eye for goal who can also pick a pass.

Antonio used to play striker and winger role for forest and did really well maybe worth a shout still need to add 1 more up front a cb/ rb and possible back up keeper although Randolph played well in euros.
