I also understand that we are still keen on Vermaalen, and two other defenders, it looks like we are trying very hard to stay within budget limits, and we are going the right way, ignore everybody else, we have to do the right things financially, we have been in big trouble before, back soon IRONMIKE.

These prices are going crazy, totally negating the extra money we're getting. 25m for a 29yo, getting 10m for Tomkins, Tevez 250 p/ w, eur20m for a player after 1 good season in eredivisie is just totally mental, what with Chinese money too I'm really concerned where this is going for football!
On Oxford, if he thinks he'll get regular football under Jose, he is deluded. His record of bringing young talent through was terrible at Chelsea. Signed shedloads of youngsters, sent them all out on loan and never played them rather signed 30y/ o+ people he though he could depend on (Lukaku, de Bruyne, Shevchenko, Zlatan) . Stay at Hammers please, get some experience at Newcastle or something for a season then tear it up in EPL next season!

Barnie, I do get your point about spending too much money on Bacca at £26M because he is 29. But remember (and I say this tongue in cheek), Payet is also 29 and had we been inclined to sell would have demanded upwards of £50M surely. There is no real value that can be attached to a player in my view. If we need a striker that scores 20 goals plus a season and we can find one to do it, then pay the £26M. Bacca still have 3 good year left in him and 60 goals over 3 seasons can prove very beneficial to West Ham United over that period, both from a morale perspective and financially.
