As I wrote happy to be corrected, but don’t actually recall the exact words and can’t find a quote that says it quite like that. I recall there was talk about what we might achieve and we could only do that by moving, but don’t recall ever anyone saying we would achieve. Too many variables to make a promise like that. Besides the clubs that regularly do make top 4 are a mix of old money, global support and success (Man Utd, Liverpool etc) and those that have bought their way in (Chelsea, Man City). We all know Newcastle will be next and that top 4 for us, if it happens, will be a one off. No way a bigger stadium can bring the type of money that would maintain a top 4 spot and I think everyone knew that then and if they didn’t, certainly know it now. To break into that club we need massive investment like Man City, like Newcastle, but would we then be the same club? We have moved along way from being the club we started supporting as youngsters, for better and for worse. That would happen again if we got investors like Newcastle or Man City and while a part of me would enjoy enjoy the success another part would miss the good old days as I already do. (Getting old) But I think we all can agree the DGS will never lead us to being a top 4 side and that was always the case no matter what anyone may have said or got reported to have said.

Seems like a civil war on this site at the moment with some very strong confrontational posts and that’s before the season starts! Quite ridiculous IMO? Why don’t the discounted ones just wait and see? ⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒

Hope there is no civil war, I would think all opinions are valid and for one I have no issue with anyone in terms of their views - we all ultimately want West Hammto be successful.

No Civil War Chelmsford, it’s all banter and generally good humoured. The only line crossed was the poster putting they’d had a bet on us going down …. that was bang out of order . Apart from that it’s all good fun and as somebody said would be deadly dull if we all agreed all of the time ?
