So a decent season but came up a little short in league, Europa League and the cups. Would have been nice to have maybe nicked that 6th spot or made a final, but progress is still happening in that it showed last season didn't need to be a blip. So now to important task of who they can bring in given all the likely outs (Kral, Yarmolenko, Noble, Martin, Fredericks all amounting to no transfer fee and Masuaku who will likely only be 1 Mill or so). Assuming numbers printed in papers of how much we can spend (albeit was in January) under FFP of 70Mill then assume Areola 10 Mill as that seems to be gaining momentum, Lingard on a free seems to be talked about more again, Dennis from Watford for maybe 10 Mill (hopefully lower), if we could get Kamara on a free would be good but think he might go elsewhere, then that leaves 50 Mill unless we sell players. Not a lot to play with to fill gaps at LB, CB, DM, and not confident the strike force would be good enough to push for 6th spot again. I think we can forget Phillips and Raphinha now Leeds stayed up, they will be too expensive and will have other suitors if Leeds do in fact even sell. Personally I would look at selling perhaps Diop and either Vlasic or Benrahma so we can invest in other players, but it is going to be really hard to make that next step and UEFA and the FA continue to make it harder by having FFP rules that favour the big clubs and not allowing others to invest more to try to beat the clubs playing Champions league.

Really good summary and thoughts about what next.

It’s easy to fall into the disappointment trap when your hopes/expectations are raised by success, but being European contenders for a second consecutive season after a relegation battle the season before shows what an excellent job Moyse and his staff have done.

It will certainly be an interesting window. There will be quite a change in the squad. I wonder how much influence Kretinsky will have.

I can't wait to see what loan signings we are targeting as we have apparently lost out on the free transfer of bobacur camara to villa if it's true but SG has spoke about getting their man by the way that was me trying to be sarcastic at the start of my post.

I’d keep Benrahma as he can score, although Vlasic needs to go, he’s shown absolutely nothing. We’d probably get £10–15m for him now. Diop is worth keeping due to his age.

Would have liked us to go for Kamara. 22 year old quality holding midfielder that can play CB with no transfer fee. Am I missing something why weren't we all over this? Villa showing us the way getting that deal done early!
