Fabianski has signed an additional years contract but I wonder how many of us still see him as our number 1 keeper. Personally I think Areola is now a better choice, he comes to the ball more and commands his area better

Do we keep Areola or look to sign someone like Johnson or Henderson who are both unsettled at the moment.

Merceri, If Areola is open to joining us and is settled with us, why not buy him if the fee is suitable? Johnson or Henderson would expect to be number, so why buy when we have a ready made number 1.?
Fab would be a decent number 2 for a couple of seasons?

I don't think there's much between them to be honest, Fabs has not done a lot wrong in his time with us we are lucky to have 2 good keepers at the moment

Agree with both of you, Chelmsford and Robbo but think Areola is more more mobile than Fab these days

Robbo, don’t disagree entirely with you, I agree Fab has been Fab, it would merely be an age and fitness consideration for me, wouldn’t want to see Areola leave because he’s not getting enough game time!

PS, Areola option to buy is £11m, that’s got to be far better price wise than either Johnstone or Henderson, no brainer for me?⚒⚒⚒⚒

I think Areola needs to be given his chance. Nothing wrong with Fab right now but an injury and he will be out a long time relatively due to age, and his reflexes aren't going to get better. The other option is keep going with Fab, Areola won't want to sign surely to be backup again, then we are searching for a keeper at the end of the season.

I think it's more to do with Areolas wages than his fee. He's from PSG remember.

They throw money at players for fun. If I had to guess i'd say he's on 100k+ at PSG as he was their number 1 before Navas/Donarumma turned up

Randolph to move on? No 3 keeper position could be covered by a kid. I see Martin is out of contract come summer; and surely going as rarely even gets a seat on the bench.
