Supposedly Coufal is upset at the new contract offer put to him, hopefully negotiations don't stall, we can't afford to lose him.

Basically West Ham should be in control of his contact as he has 2 years left with West Ham having a further 2 year option so basically he’s got 4 years left on his contract, he’s currently on £1.6m a year, it’s a tough life!

Stevie, Coufal should be offered £3m to £4m a year not a lousy £1.6m, by today’s standards, the whole world that has seen him play will know that, he’s done his apprenticeship with us, now pay him what he’s worth before another club does!
We need to retain our star players before we think about recruiting new players that may not even settle or are just Bounty Hunters that go missing when the contract has been signed and we all know who they were!

Couldn’t disagree more with the above post. Coufal is 29 in 3 weeks. He won’t get a big contract at that age. West Ham plucked him from obscurity and offered him the chance to play in the best league in the world. Yes he has played well for us, for one season, but I think he should feel very grateful to West Ham Football Club. Who no doubt already pay him more per week than he has ever been paid before. The club will outlast any player, the club is always bigger than any player.

Completely get it and agree but with his contract still having years to run, the club are probably not in any hurry, the player himself was happy with that contract 12 months ago, if the club had put in his contract that if he helps us get into Europe then they will offer a new contract then that’s what should happen, but he won’t leave as West Ham are in control of it basically, that’s all I was saying, but you’re right he should be up there with the higher earners, let’s see what happens.

Disagree, Why this obsession with age? He’s not 35, show respect to the man, he’s world class, he could take the piss—- like Haller or Yarmelenko or Anderson or Wilshere, how many more can we name?

Coufal had never played outside of the Czech League before West Ham. He owes West Ham for plucking him from obscurity. ‘World Class’ is a considerable overstatement.
