Would you swap Declan for Lingard and McTominay and £30 million?

If that were a realistic deal then I'd definitely consider it, but I don't see Manchester United parting with McTominay.

Would they need him and Rice?

They might not need them both, but that doesn't mean they'd let McTominey go. He had a decent season for them last year.

I personally think that Rice would be better off joining Chelsea or Manchester City. Although City won't go for him this summer given that they're looking at signing Grealish and Kane. But I think Rice is the natural replacement next summer for Fernandinho now he has signed another 1 year extension.

No bloody way money only
The wages alone should tell us to stay way clear of the bigger teams cast off
Dont get me wrong i want lingard but a year left hasn't been getting in to man u team nearer 15m than 20 with add on
Otherwise we move on
We have a lot to offer a player with the way we've been playing
Some of our play last season was mind blowing.

I agree with you Mo, I would much prefer a money only deal. I'd accept money + Lingard if we are looking to buy Lingard anyway.

But letting Anderson (£85k a week) go for £0-7 million depending on the article, selling Reid (£65k a week) for £0-2 million depending on the article and Yarmolenko (£115k a week) for £5 million that is between £0-14 million in sales plus approx. £13.5 million from their wages annually

Supplement that with £80 million for Rice, and add that to the transfer budget we already have; which I can only assume is about £50 million considering we are apparently after a decent centre back and a forward as well as Lingard - I am basing that on £15 million for a centre back, £15 million for Lingard and £20 million for a forward?

That would give us a budget of £120-147.5 million this window depending on how much we get for Anderson, Reid and Yarmolenko.

Invest that wisely in younger players with potential and a couple of players hitting their prime and we are actually in a pretty good position. Sign players like

Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina or Attila Szalai from Fenerbache or Duje Caleta-Car from Marseille for the centre back addition. All are available for £15-22 million depending on what article you read.

At centre midfield I think even before selling Declan Rice we need at least one signing. So selling him I think we need two. Personally I would prefer targeting combative midfielders that have a bit of creativity in them too. I think Yangel Herrera from Manchester City would be a good shout for one of those signings, we have been linked and he is available for £10-20 million depending on the article. He doesn't have premier league experience so we could maybe look to get him on a loan to buy option. Supplement him with a tried and tested premier league midfielder like Mario Lemina from Southampton, again we have been linked and he is available for £5-8 million depending on the article.

Then for the attacking midfield and forward positions, Jesse Lingard from Manchester United for £15 million, Adam Hlozek from Sparta Prague for £15-20 million and Patrick Schik from Bayer Leverkusen who is apparently available for £30-35 million.

I get and appreciate that player wages and signing bonuses and agents fees all come out of the transfer budget as well, but even at the top end of those prices we have spent £120 million and that is assuming none of these players can be signed on a loan deal.

I know all of this is fabrication and conjecture, but just saying and showing that with money for Rice we could invest and buy some decent players that would be a massive improvement on the squad as a whole.

{Ed002's Note - You seem to be forgetting the huge losses the club are making.}

Good point Ed, I don't know the clubs finances and I have no idea what those loses are or how it will affect our transfer budget

Although, does that not to some extent prove my point? If we sell Rice and the others I mentioned (maybe add in Lanzini as well), and bring in young, hungry players, on smaller wages.

{Ed002's Note - To put it in to context you have suggested a transfer budget that matches the entire turnover of the club from 19/20 where there were significant losses and the will be far wors in 20/21.}

The reality is with any swap deals is the club can put them up but if it is t where the player wants to go then that part falls over. And as the other player may already be down the track of wanting the move you are then in a position of negotiating from a poor position. McTominay won’t want to come to West Ham is my view and so it would be a really poor deal to try to get involved in.
