I've seen Declan come under fire within the media for being too conservative and not "passing forward"

He is literally under instruction by Southgate to sit in front of the defence and not move or give possession away. We've all seen his driving runs and passing ability throughout the season so we know it's not his fault. If he decides to start passing/ driving forward with the ball, he risk being dropped for not following instructions.

Extremely frustrating to watch.

Let’s face it, I can only think of 3 players that have come away with any credit in last two games, Pickford, mings and foden ( foden because he was the only one going forward) .

After Scotland game I think Southgate should of been sacked, that was the most boring, negative performance in years and frankly unacceptable, everybody passed it sideways or backwards and mings summed it up in the interview after saying the goal was to get out of the group, that says it all about the mentality of the team.
Fair enough to look at Kane but he has had no service to work from and has been totally isolated, I am with sourness that rice and Phillips are the same player, play one or the other and not both to create 6 defenders.
I think I will be turning off tonight if the first half is similar to the other night.

Well, at least we got to see 30 mins of the potential that England can play, moving the ball forward, looking confident. What happened in the second half is anyone’s guess, would love to have heard Southgates half time talk, maybe he was worried about going forward!

Next Tuesday will be the start of the games where you have to win ugly, the nitty gritty of not conceding goals and stout defending, a team that’s not scoring but also not conceding, get your cash on 0-0 at full time.
Still not a Southgate fan but maybe the knockout stages will work as fans will accept winning ugly.
