Interested to know what positions people think we need to sign this summer?
My thoughts below:
CB - Sign Dawson and at least one more. This is going to cost us £15-£25m total to fill both spaces (assuming Dawson is £5m of this amount)
LB - I thought Arthur was great last season when fit and playing as a LWB when fit. But he cannot play in a back 4 which leaves us with one proper LB in Cresswell. Not essential, but will be needed for Europe unless we play Johnson or a youth player on occasion £10m-£15m
CM - 100% no brainer we need to bolster here and Kral is ideal. Do we keep Lanzini to play CM also, especially in EURO games? I personally love him in CM. £15-£20m
AM - Assuming we sell Anderson and Yarmolenko (£20 mil tops IMO) we will need a WG/ AM to compete with Bowen, Fornals and Benrahma. £20m-£30m
ST - Absloute MUST £25m-£30m
£115m max, OR, £85m if we buy at the lower end of each. Where do we get this money from?
This does not address the GK issue, and assumes no loans. Manage your expectations this summer, we simply do not have the funds.

If we get Kral, both he and Rice are very comfortable as CBs. I can see both in the first team as well as Soucek. It would give real flexibility.

We need another top keeper and a CF (if not two) .

Generally we need quality players to give more depth to the squad.

Box 2 box mid is essential as much as sticker. Me personally. I'd try daka hlozek and billing.

Craig Dawson was signed earlier this year.

Apparently we have £85 million plus player sales for this summer.

David Martin and Balbuena are both leaving this summer on frees after their contracts finish and I would suggest that we sell the following

Reid is apparently wanted by Brentford on a permanent deal now they’ve got promotion, so could get £2-3 million there?

Yarmolenko is apparently out the door this summer with Dynamo Kiev interested for £5 million. Also, a big earner off the wage bill.

Anderson is apparently being looked at by one or two clubs in Italy and Galatasaray in Turkey. If we could get £5 million for him and get him off the wage bill, superb.

We need a goalkeeper, a centre back, a left back, a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a forward (if not two) .

Goalkeeper - free agent - Tomas Vaclik from Sevilla. Another Czech international. He’s the National sides number one I believe and with the contingent we currently have I am sure he’d settle in well.

Centre back - free agent - Nikola Maksimovic from Napoli. He is 29 years old so not a young up and comer but someone with international experience and a decent pedigree.

Left back - £16 million - Junior Firpo from Barcelona. He is very fast, strong and can play at left back and left wing back.

Central midfielder - £14 million - Alex Kral from Moscow. He looks class, can play in defence and midfield, so he is versatile and in a midfield three with Rice and Soucek would actually allow Soucek to push a little further up.

Attacking midfielder - £20 million - Jesse Lingard from Manchester United. Not really sure I need to say anything about this.

Forward - £20 million - Adam Hlozek from Sparta Prague. This lad is young, hungry, strong, fast and a good finisher. He is being scouted by every man and his dog but is apparently interested in a move to West Ham because of the opportunities for game time and I am sure a little to do with the Czech contingent.

Forward - £5 million LOAN TO BUY - Tammy Abraham from Chelsea. Chelsea want £40 million for Abraham but that is too steep for us with other positions still needing reinforcements.

And there is also nothing stopping us from signing another player (maybe two) on loan. Although I think we are only allowed two domestic loans at any one time so a third loan would have to be from abroad?

It’s also worth pointing out Buffon is a free agent looking for another chapter and he has said himself that he’d play for West Ham (google it, it’s written in his book) . He’d be a decent signing in a year deal to alternate games with Fabianski and would be EXCEPTIONAL as a tutor to our younger goalkeepers.

We could also look to sign Josh King or Cristian Benteke on a free to save transfer fees for elsewhere.

What's the plan on daka ED.

{Ed002's Note - Patson Daka (S) the player signed a new contract at RBS last season when he was assured of the chance to replace Haaland - a chance he has taken very well under Jesse Marsch. RBL could be interested in taking him in the future but the timing is not right now as RBS have no intention of selling unless a very significant offer were made. He is a player who would depart for AFCON which puts many clubs off. His agent and his assistant (Freddie Kanoute) have offered him around without the permission of RBS - this will be driven by the far higher wages offered elsewhere and certainly London-based clubs have been approached including Crystal Palace who have previously made an offer for him and Spurs. I suspect West Ham and Arsenal will also have been approached and West Ham are clearly in need of such an addition but have a huge list of strikers they have looked at and enquired about. It is pretty clear there will be interest in him in the summer from a number of sides, perhaps including Manchester United and Liverpool. Jesse Marsch moving to RBL may give a hint to his immediate future.}

Claret&hugh website seem to be playing the amount we have to spend down again. Aswell as saying we are not looking at Kral or any defensive mid but looking to get lingard, 1 maybe 2 strikers and a couple of defenders.

The idea of going into this season without adequate cover for Rice and soucek with the extra games is ridiculous.

Reports we are looking at young Swansea cb Ben Cabango.

I think a lot of us might be a bit disappointed this summer.
