Well that was a bit of a nail biter yesterday, you can tell the deal was done earlier in the day as the pics I've seen of Benrahma in the shirt the sun was still up, lol, anyway I know we have a moan at the owners but do you think Sullivan has pulled off a master stroke with a loan to buy at seasons end, like the Soucek deal, could mean there's money there for January if we need it?

Stevie,
Too much credit given to board possibly. It feels like they put all the eggs in the Benrahma basket (£30M) and dallied with AFC over King. I believe there was some medical issue which prevent the buy so switching to a loan was a good pivot but. that suddenly releases fee funding for King too. Diangana went for 18 etc, 5 spent on Benrahma, cash in for Anderson. I reckon that had the 18 AFC we’re looking. Player’s wages obviously a hindering issue. So. net spend wise board have retained cash which maybe like you say good for January (11 weeks without major injury? ) . Maybe King will be cheaper then as he winds down contract.

Yes I think we are in a good January shopping position but signing king and Benrahma would have been a statement of intent now. Perhaps Kings admission of mental health etc may have swayed avoidance — he may be more use in January after some AFC game time.

So not a master stroke but perhaps a by-product benefit?

We raised 20.52m in sales not including loan fee of Anderson or wages to buy out Wiltshire
Spent 19.98m not including loan fee of benrahma or Dawson fee as read something about Watford compensation for the young right back will cover it
With the C.V. present I give the board a pat on the back but expected better investment once we get back in the stadium.

Yes spent over 20 when all is added up, probably about a break even.
