With the money awash in the Premiership and obscene wages paid to individuals amounting to £millions pa, it seems criminal to see such clubs such as Bury and Bolton facing expulsion from the Football league, surely Premiership clubs could step in to help out. Of course it could set a precedent but this will devastate supporters and the community that have followed the clubs! This is criminal of the Premiership to stand aside and let this happen providing it is not illegal to help financially! I would like to hear other views if anybody has any? ⚒⚒.

Hiya Chelmsford totally agree with you time for all clubs to deposit a bond with the FA so that when there is trouble the FA could step in take control of the club and pay wages.

This is what happens when you go 0n Holiday ans it run by both ABTA and the ATOL license

Clubs could pay a percentage of turnover and part of the payment could also come out of the players wages the higher the salary the more would be paid

Someone like Alex Sanchex on £500,000 per week at 1% would pay £5k per week where as a lower division player say on £1000 per week would pay £10 per week

Seems fair to me would love to know what other people think.

Simply can’t argue with the above, though “safe” clubs and the PFA will never agree it. The more money there is available, the greedier people become.

I’ve thought for years that agents, who take stupid amounts of cash out of the game, should be dumped and the players’ interests should be run by their national PFA, which is already paid for by the players.

I can only agree with the above points. This is very sad for the communities concerned!
The insurance idea seems a good one, as it does seem an outrage that the premier league is swimming in money yet this happens lower down. Marko’s comment about money is very valid and would love to see the back of those leeches.
With historic clubs like Bolton and Bury (like ours) as Chelmsford points out it effects the wider community and these places were started by the local community or local working men. The only words of positivity I can say is that I am sure they will be back because the infrastructure is there. But the main worry is that it could start some sort of domino effect.

Fully agree with chemsford, I hate seeing any football club going out of business, all those years of history wiped out, surely the the premier league clubs could give a few million each for them to survive.

{Ed002's Note - It is not the responsibility of Premier League clubs to be paying of £10M worth of debt owed by another side that will then continue to spend more than they own. What about the numerous other sides who are struggling? Oxford, Notts County, Coventry, Bolton, Hartlepool ....}

Agreed Ed, as sad as it is (and especially so as we held the record victory against them), but if they get bailed out the owners will mismanage again. In Australia it has been a bit different as the A-League licences are a bit like the US licences in that owners have them but they can be taken back and the league can then bail them out and then look for new owners. The UK system is a far better system in my view but does have the issue that a terrible owner can ruin a club as has happened and will happen again.
