Love how Billic handled himself this morning. First time in a long while I've seen West Ham in the media and not felt embarrassed. Payet ain't been the same since the Euros and this has obviously effected the players as well. Payet like us expected more last summer and I can understand why he would want to leave. The owners promised to build a worthy team around him and didnt. Lots of empty promises. Payet should not be in a team fighting relegation he should be fighting for championships and champions league. HOWEVER, you can't throw your dummy out the pram and down tools! An amicable agreement should have been made to let him leave this summer with are blessing and that he would be expected to work he's backside off for he's team mates for the next 4-5 months. In the last couple of weeks I thought the figure from Marseille was for 35m and for that I would let him go. Not 20m! I've had people on here in the last few days telling me Antonio is worth 40+m and were going to take 20m for Payet. One of the best players I've seen in claret and blue but every story has an ending, some better than others. With cash eventually coming in for Valencia, Payet, Fegouli, Ogbonna perhaps that should be a tidy little sum, add to that a summer transfer kitty say 25-30m like we normally have and you would like to think we've got the means to start assembling a new squad. Putting that process into action is a different thing as our recruitment team didn't do themselves any favours last summer. The fear is that the money won't be reinvested or if so squandered. there's a lot of good young players out there for under 10m such as Iorfa, Sanson. not to mention all the great young prospects we've already got such as Oxford, Burke, Cullen, Browne, Samuelsson, Fernandez, Quina, Martinez and Fletcher to name a few. I say first things first, don't get relegated. Then cash in on a few of these numpties who are no good or don't want to play for us. When Payet leaves Sigurdsson would be a great shout.

Yep, Sigurdsson and Snodgrass would do well and I'd also like Morgan Sanson (time to freshen our midfield up)

It is nice to have all that potential money but the problem is unless we have some good players others won't join. No-one is going to come to join a mid to bottom half team when they don't have to. This is the issue we had already this summer no amount of money was going to get some players. We only got Payet because he was always seen to be a player who never fulfilled potential and would run hot and cold - sadly we are seeing the evidence of that now.
